WHAT IS IT?
The Decade Thirty Daily Prompt Cycles was an idea I created in November 2015 to help focus some of my logbook/journal entries. The concept is simple: there are 31 main prompts which are scrambled and assigned to each day of any given month. The following month, the same 31 main prompts are used and scrambled again to each day. Below is an example of November’s prompt cycle:
HOW THE HECK DOES THIS THING WORK?!
To read the Prompt Cycle Calendar (picture above), you’ll need a copy of the 31 main prompts (see links below) and a bit of concentration. You can clearly see that the numbers are all out of order and doesn’t make much sense, right? Using the example above, November 1 falls on a Saturday, and the Prompt Cycle Calendar has the number 13 on it – this number represents the prompt you answer for November 1. So explained another way: on November 1 you answer Prompt 13, which is Describe your evening, on November 2, you answer prompt 1, which is What made you smile today?, and so on and so forth. There are no right or wrong answers, and you can get as creative as you’d like. The prompts are designed to be answered in 10-15 minutes at the end of each day, but you can answer them whenever it takes your fancy.
Check back on the blog to get the Prompt Cycle Calendar for each month. I’ll usually publish them on the last day of each month.

Thank you! This is amazing!
You’re welcome, Elena :) I hope you enjoy them!
Hi
Are you doing this again in March? I’ve really enjoyed it in February!
Hi Charmaine! Yes, I’ll be doing this again for March and April. The new prompt cycle will be up at the end of February :)
Hi! The March/April prompts seem to link to Jan/Feb.
Thanks for the heads up, Ro! I’ve updated that :)
Hi I’m still new to this and I have been working on my journal but there are so many things that I am putting into it and doing research and what best describes how I want to set everything up and add collections, etc. I read that alot of research should be done to get the feel of it.
But the main thing I wanted to ask you is where can i see samples of the prompt cycle, I also want to do #ROCK YOUR HANDWRITING, ETC. but I am planning to use a 1917 but I don’t know how to set it up. Each of the challenges are different and I would put them in the same book (keeping all the months together). I would like to know if you have any layouts that I can take a look out to get a better feel.
And when using a dot journal the purpose is to keep the letters inside the dots!!lol
Thank you
Hi, I just came across this and am very excited to try this! Can you provide me the April prompt, please?
