Answered By: Xavier White Date: created: Jul 28 2023

This report from Ten News covers Kylie’s guest appearance on the long running British sci-fi series Doctor Who, Kylie appeared opposite David Tennant in the 2007 Christmas special, titled Voyage of the Damned, as waitress Astrid Peth, a role written specifically for her.

  • The starring role came as a big surprise to fans of both the pop star and the TV show, which was viewed by more than 13 million people – the show’s highest viewing figure since 1979 – when it went to air in Britain on Christmas Day 2007.
  • The brief news report gives us a glimpse of Kylie in costume during filming, through a series of production stills, including one shot where she shares a much talked-about kiss with Tennant.

These work well to tease the viewer without giving away anything of the plot. Kylie’s casting in the cult TV show certainly speaks to her colossal fame. A collaboration between real-life and fictional icons, Kylie and Doctor Who, is a match made in British pop culture heaven.

Is Astrid The TARDIS?

Character creation – Australian singer Kylie Minogue portrayed Astrid Peth in the episode In August 2007, screenwriter and executive producer Russell T Davies announced that Astrid Peth would be the next companion, following the positive reception towards Martha Jones, (played by Freema Agyeman ).

Astrid’s surname, Peth, was confirmed in the Christmas edition of Radio Times, Davies has stated that the character was always going to be a “one-off” even before Minogue was cast and that Astrid would demonstrate “a whole new take – again – on what a companion can be”. The name Astrid Peth generated some speculation before the episode’s broadcast over the findings that Astrid is an anagram of TARDIS, and that Peth means thing in Welsh,

However, the episode established no such connection. On Doctor Who Confidential, Minogue describes Astrid as a “dreamer” and that meeting with the Doctor rekindles Astrid’s desire to explore. Later in his book A Writer’s Tale Davies discussed with co-author Benjamin Cook how he had originally named the character “Peth” in a treatment but it bugged him, he later renamed her to “Astrid” giving the reason that it “.sounds more spacey, more like a futuristing Doctor’s companion”.

In 2008 The Daily Express quoted Minogue as saying there had been talk that her character could be reintroduced at a later date.

Davies refused to comment when Doctor Who Magazine asked him about the rumours regarding Minogue’s return to Doctor Who,

Who is the moisture lady in Doctor Who

Answered By: Jake Brown Date: created: Oct 06 2023

Lady Cassandra | Doctor Who | Doctor Who “Moisturise Me! Moisturise Me!” Lady Cassandra O’Brien.Δ17 (“”dot Delta Seventeen””) viewed herself as the last pure human left in the universe at a time (the year five billion) when the Earth was finally destroyed by the expansion of the Sun.

  1. This was a viewpoint challenged by Rose Tyler when she met a woman who had been altered by almost endless cosmetic surgery into what was now a brain in a jar and a face set into skin stretched around a mobile frame.
  2. Or, as Rose put it, “”a bitchy trampoline””.
  3. Cassandra thought of nothing but herself, and her constant need for expensive medical procedures was the inspiration behind her deadly plans to exploit Platform One’s occupants.

When the Ninth Doctor foiled her schemes, he and Rose thought they’d seen the last of her. But the Lady Cassandra had been able to turn the other cheek, and after surviving her fate had hidden away in the depths of a New Earth hospital. It was there she encountered the Tenth Doctor and took possession of Rose’s body as she schemed to blackmail the Sisters of Plenitude.
