Where do most Arsenal fans live in London

Answered By: Mason Thompson Date: created: Apr 25 2023

Demographics – Arsenal’s performance in home matches have resulted in them having the second-highest average League attendance for an English club during the 2007–08 season, (60,069, which was 99.5% of available capacity), and as of 2006, the fourth-highest all-time average attendance.

Arsenal have the highest proportion (7.7%) of non-white attending supporters of any club in English football, according to a 2002 report. There are supporters’ clubs worldwide. A 2005 report by Granada Ventures, which at the time owned a 9.9% stake in the club, estimated Arsenal’s global fanbase at 27 million, the third-largest in the world.

The club’s north London location, adjoining socially wealthy areas such as Canonbury and Barnsbury, mixed areas such as Islington, Holloway, Highbury, and the adjacent London Borough of Camden, and largely working-class areas such as Finsbury Park and Stoke Newington, as well as neighbouring Homerton, Clapton and Dalston, has meant that Arsenal’s supporters have typically come from across the usual class divides.

What famous people live in Totteridge?

1. Barnet T here’s a sticker on the ‘Welcome to Barnet’ sign just outside the town of Chipping Barnet. It’s from the Urban Alliance and states: ‘The Countryside Alliance: the killer minority.’ The UA knows that Barnet thinks it is genuinely rural. Chipping Barnet borders the north, Hampstead Garden Suburb the east, Cricklewood and Golders Green the south and Edgware the west.

  • It includes The Bishops Avenue, N2, the mansion-strewn street famous as the original Millionaires’ Row.
  • There’s also Finchley, Hendon and Mill Hill.
  • So Barnet’s big.
  • Totteridge is the jewel in Barnet’s crown.
  • The ‘village’ boasts the most millionaires in London (an impressive 631) attracted by its Green Belt views and duck pond.

Indeed, Barnet as a whole has the highest proportion of self-employed people in London. The league-topping Queen Elizabeth’s School churns out millionaires in the making, such as 20-year-old Andrew Culverhouse whose company, Time2talk, has a turnover of nearly £1 million.

Barnet just had to be number one. NUMBER OF MILLIONAIRES 6,872. WEALTHIEST POCKETS Mill Hill, NW7, with its pastures and cows; Hampstead Garden Suburb, N20, with its good schools; Kingsgate Avenue in Finchley, N4; Thornton Way in Golders Green, NW11. As many of The Bishops Avenue mansions fall into a state of disrepair (constraints on planning permission, etc), the area has lost some of its cachet.

Totteridge now houses the borough’s truly wealthy. The best addresses here are on Totteridge Lane, Totteridge Common and Totteridge Village. This is strictly ‘price-available-on-application’ territory. WHO LIVES THERE? Families – there are good schools throughout the borough – who want space on the edge of the Green Belt.

  1. A million or so here can mean a garden with lakes, paddocks and palm trees, as well as accommodation for the staff.
  2. Bruce Forsyth, Des O’Connor, David Ginola and Lord Levy (Tony Blair’s multimillionaire tennis partner) all live in Totteridge.
  3. Jonathan Ross and Helena Bonham Carter prefer Hampstead Garden Suburb.

PROS Unlike its sister, Hadley Wood in Enfield, Totteridge has tons of community spirit. Totteridge Residents’ Association is very powerful with around 2,000 members. Indeed, ‘villagey’ activities are prevalent throughout the borough with f?tes, sports days, vegetable competitions and the like.

CONS Never call Totteridge nouveau. Residents are swift to point out that the village was mentioned in the Domesday Book. But would the authors recognise it now, with its stone lions and kidney-shaped swimming pools? THE RICH SHOP AT Robinsons Delicatessen, 182 High Street, Barnet (020 8449 0828). The oldest shop in Barnet – established in 1913 – stocks dinner-party essentials such as home-cooked ham and traditional farmhouse Cheddar.

AND PLAY AT The Orange Tree, 7 Totteridge Village, N20 (020 8343 6961). The famous Totteridge mock-Tudor pub where locals can pretend to be country squires. Average cost of a four-bed house £500,000 in Totteridge. The rest of the borough averages out at £350,000.

Which areas of London are Chelsea fans from?

Ownership and finances – Todd Boehly, chairman and one of the co-owners of Chelsea. Chelsea Football Club was founded by Gus Mears in 1905. After his death in 1912, his descendants continued to own the club until 1982, when Ken Bates bought the club from Mears’ great-nephew Brian Mears for £1.

  1. Bates bought a controlling stake in the club and floated Chelsea on the AIM stock exchange in March 1996.
  2. In the mid-1990s Chelsea fan and businessman Matthew Harding became a director and loaned the club £26 million to build the new North Stand and invest in new players.
  3. In July 2003, Roman Abramovich purchased just over 50% of Chelsea Village plc’s share capital, including Bates’ 29.5% stake, for £30 million and over the following weeks bought out most of the remaining 12,000 shareholders at 35 pence per share, completing a £140 million takeover.

Other shareholders at the time of the takeover included the Matthew Harding estate (21%), BSkyB (9.9%) and various anonymous offshore trusts. At the time of the Abramovich takeover, the club also had debts of around £100 million, which included a 10-year £75 million Eurobond taken out in 1997 by the Bates regime to buy the freehold of Stamford Bridge and finance the redevelopment of the stadium.

The 9% interest on the loan cost the club around £7 million a year and according to Bruce Buck, Chelsea were struggling to pay an instalment due in July 2003. Abramovich paid off some of that debt immediately, but the outstanding £36 million on the Eurobond was not fully repaid until 2008. Since then, the club had no external debt.

Abramovich changed the ownership name to Chelsea FC plc, whose ultimate parent company was Fordstam Limited, which was controlled by him. Chelsea were additionally funded by Abramovich via interest free soft loans channelled through his holding company Fordstam Limited.

  1. The loans stood at £709 million in December 2009, when they were all converted to equity by Abramovich, leaving the club themselves debt free, although the debt remained with Fordstam.
  2. Chelsea did not turn a profit in the first nine years of Abramovich’s ownership, and made record losses of £140m in June 2005.

In November 2012, Chelsea announced a profit of £1.4 million for the year ending 30 June 2012, the first time the club had made a profit under Abramovich’s ownership. This was followed by a loss in 2013 and then their highest ever profit of £18.4 million for the year to June 2014.

  • In 2018 Chelsea announced a record after-tax profit of £62 million.
  • Chelsea has been described as a global brand; a 2012 report by Brand Finance ranked Chelsea fifth among football brands and valued the club’s brand value at US$398 million – an increase of 27% from the previous year, also valuing it at US$10 million more than the sixth best brand, London rivals Arsenal – and gave the brand a strength rating of AA (very strong).

In 2016, Forbes magazine ranked Chelsea the seventh most valuable football club in the world, at £1.15 billion ($1.66 billion). As of 2016, Chelsea was ranked eighth in the Deloitte Football Money League with an annual commercial revenue of £322.59 million.

  • The club’s recent accounting records highlight £26.6m they lost in compensation to former head coach Antonio Conte for sacking and to pay off his backroom staff and the legal costs that followed.

On 26 February 2022, during the Russo-Ukrainian War, Abramovich handed over “stewardship and care” of Chelsea FC to the Chelsea Charitable Foundation. Abramovich released an official statement on 2 March 2022 confirming that he was selling the club due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

Although the UK government froze Abramovich’s assets in United Kingdom on 10 March due to his “close ties with Kremlin”, it was made clear that the Chelsea club will be allowed to operate in terms of activities which are football related. On 12 March, the Premier League disqualified Abramovich as a director of Chelsea Football Club.

On 19 March 2022, there were five confirmed bids to acquire Chelsea FC: submitted to Raine Capital which was handling the sale of the club. Some of these were a consortium led by ex-Liverpool chairman Sir Martin Broughton, a group of investors led by the Ricketts family (among them Joe and Pete Ricketts ), Swiss and American businessmen Hansjörg Wyss and Todd Boehly, Aethel Partners headed by Portuguese Ricardo Santos Silva and British businessman Nick Candy, supported by former Chelsea striker Gianluca Vialli,

  1. On 7 May, the club finally confirmed that “terms have been agreed” for a new ownership group led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
  2. On 30 May, it was confirmed that the Boehly consortium had completed the purchase of the club.
  3. The consortium also includes Wyss and Mark Walter,
