The Director Who Buys Me Dinner (TV Mini Series 2022– ) ⭐ 6.8 | Fantasy, Romance Boy meets boy 200 years ago and they fall in love despite the opposition. Reunited in the future as boss and secretary, this is a gorgeous story of true soulmates finding each other again. Boy meets boy 200 years ago and they fall in love despite the opposition. 2 years 2023 2022 See all Perfect to binge and cry 💯🔥🔥🔥 Each episode is around 15 minutes long, but around 10-12 excluding the review intro, and outro. This is a perfect short series to watch under three hours (estimate time: 2:30:00) The story keeps going each episode, with fluffy filler that doesn’t take up too much un-necessary time.
Now for opinion, I loved watching this and their little moments together, and the conflict and injury between characters. I was laughing in the first few episodes and screaming in the last few from excitement or surprise haha. Each episode has romance no doubt, and you focus and three characters, (one introduced more in a few episodes in) the camera and quality work is beautiful, and the actors being you into the moment.
Some people might not be satisfied with the ending, as it kinda leaves it an open book, but you could easily understand what is to happen next. I am sad we miss out on that part, but it adds to the story and effect, so it impacts you more. Don’t worry open the the open ending, we don’t really miss anything, I loved it and I know you will too.

What was the ending of the movie The Dinner?
Two sets of wealthy parents meet for dinner to decide what to do about a crime their sons have committed. A former history teacher and his wife Claire meet at a fancy restaurant with his elder brother, a prominent politician and his wife Babette. The plan is to discuss over dinner how to handle a crime committed by their teenage sons. The violent act of the two boys had been filmed by a security camera and shown on TV, but, so far, they have not been identified. The parents have to decide on what to do. — AnonymousB Reluctantly, the caustic and eccentric former high-school teacher, Paul Lohman, prepares himself for the unbearable task of having dinner at a posh restaurant with his wife, Claire, after an invitation by his older brother, Stan-who is running for Governor -and his second wife, Katelyn. Before long-as the four sit uneasily, chatting and bickering over a parade of absurdly expensive and intricate dishes-the tension will start bubbling up until Stan makes clear the reason for this gathering. Evidently, their sons harassed an innocent homeless lady-and as one thing led to another-they got involved in a horrible incident, and committed a crime. Now, what should the parents do? Should they be protective, covering up the dreadful act of violence for the sake of their sons’ future, or should they expose them to be rightfully punished? After all, she was only a nameless woman. — Nick Riganas
On a snowy winter evening in Dobbs Ferry, New York history teacher Paul Lohman (Steve Coogan) and his wife Claire (Laura Linney) along with Paul’s older brother Stan (Richard Gere), a Congressman, and his wife Katelyn (Rebecca Hall) meet up for an organized dinner at an luxury restaurant that Stan has booked for just the four of them. Aside from the four patrons at the restaurant, Stan is accompanied by his personal aides: under pressure that he is the front runner in a race for Governor, as well as hemming an important bill through the House on the subject of mental health. It transpires during the course of the film – organized under chapter headings following the stages of the meal – that the four are there to discuss an incident in which their teenage children Michael (Charlie Plummer) and Rick (Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick) verbally and physically harassed a homeless woman trying to sleep at an ATM kiosk leading to her death when Michael threw a lit match that set her sleeping bag on fire, killing her. A third boy, Beau (Miles J. Harvey), the adopted son of Stan and Barbara (Chloë Sevigny), Stan’s ex-wife, left the scene before this occurred, but witnessed that this was an unprovoked attack. Over the course of the dinner, tensions run amok among the group inter-cut with flashbacks that view the dysfunctional family’s past, and Stan’s attempts to help Paul in his depression. The arguments grow more tense as they clash on whether the boys should take the blame or to simply cover up their wrongdoing. Paul’s mental health, which has already become unstable after his wife’s cancer diagnosis, finds it deteriorating further when he finds out that Michael uploaded a video of the woman’s death online. Michael refuses to delete the video, causing a schism between him and his father. Paul also is shocked to find that Claire is colluding with Michael in a scheme to pay out thousands of dollars in hush money to anyone that finds out. After Stan and his wife offer to look after Michael while Claire is in the hospital, Paul becomes angry and accidentally hits him over the head with a saucepan. At the dinner, Stan makes it clear he wants to withdraw from the gubernatorial race and hold a press conference about the ATM incident, afterwards accompanying his son to the police. A bitter argument ensues between Stan on one side with turning his son over to the police, and Claire and Katelyn on the other who want to protect their children and their futures as well as their family’s image and reputation, with Paul sitting quietly away from the table. Katelyn manages to persuade Stan to hold off on his plan to report Michael. Paul, broken and unstable, leaves the restaurant for Stan’s house looking for Beau, believing that the solution to the problem is to kill Beau to silence him for good, and a violent confrontation ends with Paul threatening to hit Beau over the head with a rock. However, Paul is confronted by an enraged Stan, frantically looking for Beau, alongside Katelyn and Claire. While Katelyn tries to phone Beau, a call comes in to Stan’s aide that the votes needed for the mental health bill are secure. The film suddenly ends on an abrupt note as Paul collapses and croaks out “Mental health for everyone!” as the others move beside him in the snow.

Who are the fairy tale characters in Tell Me a Story Season 2?
Premise – Tell Me a Story takes “the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller. Set in modern-day New York City, the first season of this serialized drama interweaves, and into an epic and subversive tale of love, loss, greed, revenge, and murder.” The second season of the show, set in Nashville, Tennessee, reimagines the princess-themed tales, and,
Was Tell Me a Story Cancelled?
(Image credit: cbs access press) (Image credit: cbs access press) A little over a year after The Vampire Diaries sunk its fangs into viewers for the final time, Paul Wesley reteamed with TVD co-creator Kevin Williamson for another dark, though different, kind of series with the fairy tale drama-thriller Tell Me a Story,
- After streaming for two seasons on the genre-friendly CBS All Access, the digital service’s execs decided against a “happily ever after” conclusion and cancelled Tell Me a Story,
- It’s obviously bad news for fans of the show and its stars, but may be a silver lining.
- The news of Tell Me a Story ‘s cancellation at CBS All Access more or less coincided with the announcement that the Paul Wesley series is one of four recent TV shows picked up for second-run airings by The CW.
(More on the other three projects below.) The network aims to bring the shows not only to its primetime linear TV schedule, but also to its streaming site. For one thing, landing a second home at The CW will almost definitely give Tell Me a Story a boost in its average viewership.
Granted, The CW’s shows regularly fare worse than shows on the other broadcast networks, but its more popular series presumably draw bigger weekly audiences than a variety of more niche streaming shows. And more eyeballs obviously means more people will be talking about the show in the future, which could potentially convince CW execs to take a chance on a third season.
It’s a long shot, sure, but not the most outlandish idea. CBS All Access hasn’t been very forthcoming with its subscriber numbers, nor its original programming stats, at least beyond touting the increased subscriptions whenever new Star Trek series debut, so it’s not exactly clear how well Tell Me a Story did, but its cancellation after two seasons doesn’t speak too highly of the totals.
- However, The CW has a long history with Paul Wesley and Kevin Williamson (not to mention some other cast and crew members), thanks to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, so the network’s core audience might very well flock to the new show when it debuts.
- If only the network could also secure the rights to Ian Somerhalder’s shortlived Netflix horror thriller V Wars,
Interestingly enough, Wesley returned to The CW earlier this year to direct an episode of Batwoman, though there’s no sign yet of him joining the Arrowverse proper. (But cross those fingers anyway.) At this point, it’s not known if The CW will choose to debut Tell Me a Story Season 1 during the summer, or if it will wait until the fall.
Season 2 will remain a CBS All Access exclusive until the final months of 2020, so it will likely get used as a midseason entry, though that obviously hasn’t been confirmed yet. Beyond Tell Me a Story, arguably The CW’s biggest acquirement is the criminally short-lived horror-drama Swamp Thing, which lasted for one truncated season on DC Universe, and was cancelled the week after it premiered,
The comic book series is definitely darker and more polished than The CW’s other DC-related properties in the Arrowverse, so it will be interesting to see if and how the content gets edited for linear TV airings. The CW also secured the rights to the Canadian detective drama Coroner, starring Chicago Fire and Inhumans vet Serinda Swan as a recently widowed coroner who uses her wits and uncanny intuition to investigate a plethora of mysterious deaths around the city of Toronto.
- Finally, The CW also scooped up the UK comedy Dead Pixels, which stars Alexa Davies ( Detectorists ), Will Merrick ( Skins ) and Sargon Yelda ( Close ) as three friends whose lives are upended by their collective obsession with the MMORPG video game Kingdom Scrolls,
- It will be the first time either Coroner or Dead Pixels will air in the U.S.
While TV series jumping from streaming services to TV networks is not the most traditional approach, there has definitely been precedents set in the past, such as Netflix’s BoJack Horseman making its linear TV debut a few years ago. CBS All Access actually tested that kind of model in 2019 by allowing the first season of its spinoff drama The Good Fight to air weekly on CBS, Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News Nick is a Cajun Country native, and is often asked why he doesn’t sound like that’s the case. His love for his wife and daughters is almost equaled by his love of gasp-for-breath laughter and gasp-for-breath horror.
Is Tell Me a Story Season 2 good
Tell Me a Story- Season 2, A Review Old tales. New blood. I loved the first season of when I watched it last summer, I thought the adaptation of the three different fairy tales was so clever and I loved the overall tone of the show, Season 2 promised three new fairytales- Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast (all if which I love) as well as some new famous faces from favourite shows such as and,
I loved season 1 and was sure I’d love season 2 just as much. The Cinderella storyline follows Simone (Ashley Madekwe) a young woman who returns home to attend her Father’s funeral, At the funeral her stepmother Veronica (Garcelle Beauvais) and two stepbrothers Ron (Caleb Castille) and Derek (Christopher Meyer) treat her coldly.
Simone’s Godmother Cora (Julia Campbell) then shares her suspicions that Simone’s father did not die naturally. After she is cut from the will, Simone becomes suspicious that Veronica murdered her father and then changed his will to force out Simone. With the help of Jackson (Matt Lauria) a guy she has been seeing, Simone begins to investigate her stepmother.
But appearances can be decieving and Simone’s past has a way of catching up to her? What really happened to Simone’s father? And is she targeting the real guilty party? The Cinderella storyline was definitely my favourite of the three and I think that’s partly because Cinderella is one of my favourite fairy tales and I always enjoy its numerous,
Although saying that it was a lot harder to rank the three this year, I think last year I had a very definite favourite but in season 2 I really loved all 3 of the storylines and thought they were all so cleverly written. Cinderella takes the top spot however, because I loved the combination of the Cinderella story with the murder mystery,
The crime fiction fan in me loved seeing Simone try to work out what really happened to her father and I think framing ‘Cinderella’s’ father’s death as a murder was a very clever and intriuging idea. I loved the characters in the Cinderella story and how they matched up with their fairy tale counterparts.
Simone was a great Cinderella and an incredibly interesting and complex character. Although the hero, Simone wasn’t necessarily a good person – being an ex con and having past issues with her family- and a big motivation of her story was money. With all Cinderella adaptations I’m always interested in the stepfamily characters too, Veronica was an impressive stepmother character and I think in the same way as Simone niether a complete victim or villian,
I also loved Ron and Derek as the stepbrother characters- I think this is the first time I’ve seen male stepbrother characters – and I thought both gave impressive performances. The Sleeping Beauty storyline follows struggling writer Tucker (Paul Wesley) who also suffers from insomnia. Tucker is engaged to high powered lawyer Maddie (Odette Annable), however he spends his free time stalking college student Olivia (Danielle Campbell) for writing inspiration.
Struggling with upcoming deadlines, Tucked decides to kidnap Olivia and chains her up in the basement of his lake house With Olivia chained up Tucker finds he can finally start writing again, he also realises that he can fall asleep if he lies next to her.
- With no one to miss Olivia his fan seems fool-proof- but Tucker soon comes to realise that he kidnapped the wrong girl.
- I think from the first episode, The Sleeping Beauty storyline was the only one out of the three that wasn’t obvious in what its fairy tale was,
- With the other two I could see the links straight away but here I wasn’t completely sure where the story was going at first,
But then the more darker and twisted it got the more I loved it, having Olivia turn on Tucker in a very move was brilliant and it did wonders for both their characters. The chemistry and tension between Olivia and Tucker were brilliant and the lines soon began to blur between victim and villain.
As the only two returning cast members from the first season it was nice to sse Wesley and Campbell sharing scenes together – the two worked so well together. I also definitely prefered both of their season 2 characters – Wesley was able to portray a much more interesting character and Campbell played the dark and twisted perfectly.
The Beauty and the Beast storyline follows rising country music star Ashley Rose (Natalie Alyn Lind) who is managed by her mother Rebecca (Carrie-Anne Moss), Ashley’s career is on the rise when she is brutally attacked at her latest concert leaving her burnt and disfigured,
- The attack means Ashley is forced to wear a mask and several skin grafts, turning her into a shut in.
- Rebecca hires former cop Beau (Eka Darville) to protect Ashley from the press and to ensure she isn’t hurt again.
- However Ashley soon begins recieving multiple threats, revealing her attacker is still out there and wants her dead,
Whilst a romance begins to blossom between Ashley and Beau, Ashley’s life becomes increasingly threathened without her even realising. Will Ashley make it back to the stage or will her attacker strike again before she has the chance? I really liked how Beauty and the Beast was adapted and think out of the three this was my favourite in how the fairytale was interpreted.
Having Ashely’s attack and disfigurement turn her unto the “beast” character was very clever and I liked the gender swapped roles. Overall I liked how the link between the three storylines was made straight away, last season the three tales only began to really merge towards the end of the season but here the Pruitt family connected the three storylines from the very first episode.
Having one of the three siblings in each tale gave the show more of a connection and I enjoyed the crossover between the three- adding more depth to the already complex storylines. I noticed that season 2 used colour a lot more to seperate the three storylines and this was something I liked.
- Cinderella had red, Beauty and the Beast yellow and blue and Sleeping Beauty green, the opposing colour schemes meant you could tell which story the next scene would be focussing on before we even saw the characters.
- I’m assuming this was a deliberate choice (it must have been, the Cinderella storyline had a ridiculous amount of red at times) and I’m not sure why colour was used so much but I did like the it.
Overall I really enjoyed the second season of Tell me a Story. I love how the show twists and interprets classic fairy tales in ways similar to, This season tackled some of my favourite fairytales in such brilliant ways and I would love a third season for even more dark fairy tale fun.

Will there be a season 2 of the series called from?
Telly’s Take – Unless they decide to publicize viewership, it is difficult to predict whether EPIX will cancel or renew From for season two. Since EPIX isn’t ad-supported, it can take a chance on series it believes in and stories that need telling, but sooner or later it comes down to production costs, versus subscriber interest.
