The Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers are the glue that holds the BBC One Saturday night hit together. Bringing awe-inspiring footwork, a phwoar factor and an incredible talent for training up plodding amateurs, they are as important as the judges and celebrities in making Strictly a success.
In 2022 there are a couple of big changes as fan favourites and former Strictly winners Oti Mabuse and Aljaž Škorjanec depart the professional lineup. Their exit means there is room for four new pro dancers – Vito, Carlos, Lauren and Michelle. As we prepare for an autumn of dazzling dancefloor delights, here is the full list of professional dancers taking part in Strictly 2022 and everything you need to know about them, including the identity of their celebrity dancer partners.

The other couples include Fleur East and Vito Coppola, Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal, Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez, James Bye and Amy Dowden, and Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington. Meanwhile, Kym Marsh has been paired with Graziano Di Prima, Matt Goss will be dancing with Nadiya Bychkova, Molly Rainford has newcomer Carlos Gu, Tony Adams was matched with Katya Jones, Tyler West and Dianne Buswell are partners, and Will Mellor will be alongside Nancy Xu. Will Mellor paired with Nancy Xu, and Tyler West paired with Dianne Buswell BBC/Ray Burmiston Speaking of his pairing with Nancy, Will gushed: “We match well I’m like an excitable puppy and so’s she!” As well as introducing their partners, the Strictly professionals also performed two stunning routines, while reigning champion Rose Ayling-Ellis also made a triumphant return, and John Legend performed.

Strictly Come Dancing returned for its twentieth series with a launch show on 23 September 2022 on BBC One, with live shows beginning the following day on 24 September. The launch show was originally scheduled to be broadcast on 17 September, but was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II,
- Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman returned as hosts, while Rylan Clark and Janette Manrara returned to host Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two,
- In May 2022, the BBC announced that Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, and Craig Revel Horwood would return to the judging panel.
- It was also confirmed that Bruno Tonioli, who had been absent from the two previous series due to travel restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, would be permanently leaving the show.
In August 2022, the BBC confirmed that the show would return to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom for the first time since the seventeenth series, It was also announced that there would be a special themed week to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the BBC, with the couples dancing to “a theme tune from an iconic BBC programme or in tribute to one of the BBC’s most loved services”.
Who left Strictly Saturday
Who left Strictly Come Dancing 2022 this week? – This week it was Ellie Taylor and Fleur East who were in the bottom two and it was Ellie Taylor who left Strictly, In the dance, off both couples performed their routines again. Ellieand her dance partner Johannes Radebe performed their Jive to Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison.
- After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts:
- Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Fleur and Vito: “Based purely on the technique alone I would like to save Fleur and Vito.”
- Motsi Mabuse chose to save Fleur and Vito: “First of all I would like to say that both couples performed really really well, also for me the technical aspect was very important, so I’m going to save Fleur and Vito.”
Anton Du Beke chose to save Fleur and Vito: “Well I’d just like to say congratulations to both couples for getting this far into the competition. Both danced marvellously. I thought Ellie danced a great performance in your Jive. And Fleur I thought your technique was strong and you performance was powerful, and I’d like to save Fleur and Vito.” Although her vote was not needed, head judge Shirley Ballas said she would also have decided to save Fleur and Vito: “Both couples danced exceptionally well but on this occasion, down to the technique qualities, I’d have saved Fleur and Vito.” Ellie Taylor; Johannes Radebe in Strictly’s latest results show. I never in a million years expected to be in for this long and to experience it so fully.
Strictly is about dancing but it’s also about the people, and every part of this show from the top to bottom, from the Execs to the make-up, to the hair to the costumes, to the sets to the band, to my fellow celebs and the dancers – even some of the judges have been alright! - Pro dancers taking to the stage this year will be Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vita Coppola.
- However, one pro that won’t be joining them is Cameron Lombard, who has quit just two years after joining the show.

- A Strictly spokeswoman told the Mirror: “Cameron is a fantastic performer and we have loved working with him for the past two years on Strictly.
- “He is currently pursuing other opportunities but will always be part of the family and our door will always be open to him in the future.”
- Cameron has not yet addressed his exit on his account and still lists himself as ” Strictly Professional”.
- He did, however, share a cryptic Instagram post yesterday as he wrote: “One day I will tell the masses the story of how I manifested this whole thing while working on myself and a million other things,”
Dave Arch will once again be returning with his back to provide live music every Saturday night. The BBC has also promised the return of beloved Blackpool Week. Rylan won’t be back on It Takes Two
- In an emotional statement he shared earlier this month, Rylan said: “After four fantastic years it’s time for me to hang up my glittery jacket and say goodbye to It Takes Two.
- “I’ve had the best time hosting alongside Janette and Zoe and I can’t thank the amazing team enough for always putting on a great show.”
He continued: “I’ve been welcomed into the Strictly family and will firmly hold that title dear to me. How much do Strictly Come Dancing professionals get paid? – While the exact sum paid to Strictly’s professional dancers has never been officially disclosed by the BBC, the flat fee has been widely reported in the past. According to the Independent Newspaper, the rate paid to each ranges from £35,000 to £50,000.
