Who does Owen cheat on Christina with Emily
Relationship Troubles With Cristina and Fallout with Teddy – They didn’t talk after the abortion, having them struggle to find normalcy in their relationship again, as they were only able to have some small talk about dinner. Owen got promoted to Chief of Surgery, giving him even more professional duties.
He and Cristina ordered Chinese from a bad restaurant, rendering them both sick on the bathroom floor and bringing them a little closer together. However, just because he showed up for her at the abortion, Owen still was mad at Cristina for doing it. They avoided talking about it by just having sex. At Zola’s birthday party, an argument about their work caused all of his frustrations to come.
He yelled that she shattered all his hopes and dreams and the kind of life that he envisioned for himself, ultimately yelling in front of all their friends that she killed their baby. They avoided each other until Valentine’s Day when he saved her from being hit by a van crashing into the ER.
- She thanked him, but he nodded shortly and left her.
- Later that day, he told her he’d be moving out.
- This made her cry and she realized that she did not want him to leave her.
- She found him in the vent room and begged him (which she had refused to do) not to hate her, finally making physical contact again after weeks of avoiding each other.
They decided to go into couple’s therapy, but they only ended up screaming at each other about their flaws and what they had been through, not making actual progress and putting them in a bad place again. This caused Owen to sleep with a woman he met at the hospital, a friend of his patient.
- He initially didn’t tell Cristina, but her intuition told her he was sleeping with someone.
- After she couldn’t find proof, she told him they needed to talk because it was driving her crazy, to the point that she suspected him to be cheating on her with nurse Emily.
- He said it hurt to love her and that he did not cheat on her with Emily, but that he did cheat on her.
A mad Cristina then started ignoring him for days, finally communicating again when she outed her anger by throwing her bowl of cereal in his face. They later stayed home, pretending to have the flu, because Cristina wanted to hear about the cheating.
Why did Cristina and Owen break up
Storylines and character – Cristina Yang is introduced as a graduate from Stanford University and a fellow surgical intern to Meredith Grey ( Ellen Pompeo ), Izzie Stevens ( Katherine Heigl ), Alex Karev ( Justin Chambers ) and George O’Malley ( T.R.
Knight ); the five of them working under Miranda Bailey ( Chandra Wilson ). An atheistic competitive intern of Korean-American ancestry, she first desired to become a doctor after a childhood car accident which killed her biological father. Yang also had dyslexia, and was raised in Beverly Hills, California by her mother and supportive Jewish stepfather.
She has a B.S. in biochemistry from Smith College, an MD from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley, making her a “double doctor”. While her emotional pragmatism, competitive perfectionism, and logical nature lead many to view her as a cutthroat “robot”, Cristina hits it off with Meredith on their first day and the pair soon become best-friends and each other’s “person”, sharing the same “dark and twisty” view of life and sense of humor.
- During her internship, Cristina has an on and off relationship with the chief of cardiothoracic surgery Preston Burke ( Isaiah Washington ) that leads to an accidental pregnancy.
- Yang schedules an abortion without telling him about the pregnancy due to Burke’s behavior towards their lack of relationship status.
However, Yang experiences an ectopic pregnancy and Burke discovers the pregnancy after Yang collapses from a burst fallopian tube while in the O.R. Burke and Yang resume their relationship in the aftermath of her miscarriage. Burke gets shot after a “shooting” at the hospital and needs surgery.
After Burke is shot in the arm and develops a hand tremor, Yang helps him cover it up by forming a covert partnership wherein she performs most of his surgeries. Yang initially denies involvement during a confrontation, but then confesses everything to Richard Webber ( James Pickens Jr.), the chief of surgery.
Yang’s actions jeopardize Burke’s chances of becoming chief, which he views as a huge betrayal. After a short breakup, Yang breaks the silence and Burke proposes marriage, which Yang accepts after eight days of hesitation. When the wedding day comes, Yang has a moment of panic before she is about to walk down the aisle but Burke leaves her because he was not sure if she was ready to commit.
Burke then disappears and is not seen again until later in the series. Yang then proceeds to go on her honeymoon to Hawaii with Meredith to recover, returning to discover that Burke has disappeared from her life and transferred to a different hospital. Burke is replaced by Erica Hahn ( Brooke Smith ), who immediately dislikes Yang for her trend of having affairs with famous surgeons, such as Burke, going so far as refusing to let her scrub in on cardiac surgeries.
Eventually, Callie Torres ( Sara Ramirez ) moves in with Yang, and she still tries to earn Hahn’s approval. Hahn reveals that she dislikes Yang because she reminds her of an early version of herself and continues to cut Yang out of cardiac surgeries and neglects to teach her, before eventually quitting the hospital and leaving Seattle Grace without a head of cardio (due to a disagreement with Torres).
- Without a teacher, Yang begins to seriously doubt the purpose of remaining in her place at Seattle Grace when the program falls to twelfth on a list of the best teaching hospitals and Burke wins the Harper Avery award without mentioning her at all, despite her saving his career.
- Yang tells the Chief that her current existence in the hospital is “unbearable” and that she has turned into a ghost.
Yang meets Owen Hunt ( Kevin McKidd ), an army trauma surgeon when he patches her up from being stabbed in the stomach by a falling icicle outside the hospital. The pair are immediately attracted to each other and share a brief kiss. Owen Hunt is later honorably discharged, he is hired as Seattle Grace’s chief of trauma surgery and he and Yang begin a flirtation.
Yang grows emotionally when she decides to support Meredith in her relationship with Derek Shepherd ( Patrick Dempsey ), despite her logical misgivings about their staying power, and begins to be more emotionally open towards Hunt. However, Hunt has repressed memories of his time in Iraq and PTSD which causes Hunt to behave erratically, and even attack and strangle her while asleep.
Yang attempts to be emotionally supportive but ends their relationship as she is afraid of sleeping next to him. Cristina loses her shot at being the first resident to perform a solo surgery despite being unanimously chosen by the attending surgeons, having been disciplined from failing to report the irresponsible behavior of the new interns.
Meredith and Cristina have a fight during the intern scandal, and Cristina chooses Alex to be her replacement. They eventually reconcile. When Izzie discovers her life-threatening cancer, Yang is the one she confides in over her other friends due to Yang’s ability to remain emotionally distant. Yang saves Izzie’s life by coming up with a treatment plan and forcing Izzie to tell their friends of her diagnosis.
Hunt begins seeing a therapist, and Yang confesses her love for him. The pair begin a tentative relationship, hampered by Hunt’s therapeutic progress and his hot and cold professional behavior, wherein he frequently ignores or penalizes Yang to avoid the appearance of favoritism.
Hunt hires ex-colleague from the Army, Teddy Altman ( Kim Raver ), to become the chief of cardiothoracic surgery as a “gift” for Yang, after she breaks down over having no new head of cardio. Yang is unimpressed with Altman, neither published nor famous, but her calm proficiency and belief in Yang’s skills win her over.
A conflict arises in the trio due to Altman and Hunt’s repressed feelings for each other. Altman chooses to resign her place as temporary head of cardio because of her feelings for Hunt. Devastated by the blow to her education and the depressing potential of returning to her previous directionless state, Yang begs Altman to stay and teach her, offering Hunt to Altman in exchange.
Altman intellectually understands Yang choosing her gift over a man and their relationship is repaired, but Hunt is deeply hurt that Yang traded him away. Hunt subconsciously tries to sabotage Yang’s education and the two break up again after Hunt is unable to decide between the two women. After Derek was shot by Gary Clark, a grieving widower who commits mass murder at the hospital, Cristina operates on Derek at gunpoint, thus saving his life.
The shooter injures Hunt as well when he chooses to return for Yang over Altman and Grey treats him as Yang saves Grey’s husband. Following the attack on the hospital, Yang and Hunt impulsively decide to get married. Yang had severe PTSD and is unable to bear being alone making marriage to Hunt, who understands what she’s going through, attractive.
Yang spends the early days of her marriage in shock and hiding at Meredith’s. Due to having severe PTSD and being unable to do her job correctly anymore, Cristina quits and begins bartending and eventually throws a housewarming party. Derek helps Cristina emotionally and she ultimately decides to go to work after helping the victim of a school shooting.
Yang discovers she is pregnant with Hunt’s child and decides to get an abortion. Though Hunt accompanies her to the abortion, he is extremely angry with her decision. Yang then operates on Henry Burton ( Scott Foley ), Altman’s husband, not knowing his identity.
When the surgery fails and he dies, Yang is guilt-stricken upon learning of her patient’s identity. Altman forgives Yang and forces Yang to realize that she did everything possible. Altman’s mentorship of Yang is punishing at times and Altman brutally emphasizes that Yang must learn patience, compassion, and the basics over the flashy surgeries Yang prefers.
Altman’s tutelage is successful and Yang evolves into an aware and well-rounded surgeon because of it. Altman allows Yang to come up with a wish list of dream surgeries to fulfill before Altman resigns and moves on. Yang and Hunt distance themselves from each other as they keep fighting over the abortion, despite attending marriage counseling.
- Hunt has a one-night stand with a patient’s friend, leaving Yang heartbroken.
- She decides to move on, unsure of her future with him.
- As the end of the fifth year of residency is near, the surgical residents, including Yang, prepare for their medical boards and for the different fellowships they plan on joining.
After she passes her exams, Yang reconciles with Hunt and tells him she is leaving Seattle for the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota. Afterward, Yang, Meredith, Shepherd, Arizona Robbins ( Jessica Capshaw ), Mark Sloan ( Eric Dane ), and Lexie Grey ( Chyler Leigh ) are involved in an aviation accident while on the way to Boise, Idaho to perform surgery on conjoined twins.
- Lexie dies, and Mark later succumbs to his injuries after they are rescued and dies.
- Following their rescue, Yang, traumatized, has brief reactive psychosis which provokes violent outbursts and makes her unresponsive.
- Yang leaves Seattle to become a cardiothoracic surgical fellow and goes, as planned, to the Mayo Clinic, but has difficulties adapting to her new colleagues’ way of working.
While in Minnesota, Yang develops a friendship with a near-retirement cardio surgeon, Craig Thomas ( William Daniels ). She mainly teases him with comments regarding his old age. She also begins an affair with the head of surgery Dr. Parker ( Steven Culp ) who has issues with Thomas.
- After Thomas dies from a heart attack, Yang returns to Seattle.
- Cristina is re-hired and Owen asks for a divorce once Cristina wants to reconcile.
- Shocked, Cristina agrees, but later finds out that the potential conflict of interest regarding the plane crash lawsuit was a key motive behind Owen’s request and confronts him.
Owen tells her that he ‘feels responsible’ and was worried as he thought she was dead. They have a sexual relationship after divorcing. The hospital is sued and found guilty of negligence. The surviving doctors, including Yang, must receive $15 million of compensation each, which leads the hospital to a near-bankruptcy as the insurers refuse to pay.
- Yang, Callie Torres ( Sara Ramirez ), and the other surviving doctors buy the hospital with the help of the Harper-Avery Foundation to prevent it from closing, and each become members of the new directing board.
- After buying the hospital, Yang realizes that she was made for the O.R.
- And breaks things off with Owen because he still wants kids and she still does not.
After breaking up with Owen, Cristina continues to excel at surgery and becomes de facto chief of cardio. Although supportive of Meredith’s choice to become a mother, Cristina points out the fact that it has hurt Meredith’s career and clinical judgment.
This causes a wedge in their friendship. Grey attempts to catch up professionally with a research trial, but the divide widens when Cristina’s trial overshadows Grey’s and steals Grey’s resources. When Dr. Shane Ross, a second-year resident, stands up to Meredith for her, Cristina kisses him, and later begins sleeping with him, as well as becoming his mentor and passing on the skills learned from Altman.
Cristina’s project is immensely successful, and she is informed that she could be considered for the Harper Avery award from her 3-D printing of a heart conduit. Grey and Yang reconcile when Grey acknowledges that Yang is correct, she has surpassed Grey, and that Grey is jealous of Yang’s professional freedom and success, while her own is hampered by her family.
- Cristina is nominated for the Harper Avery award and is a strong candidate, however she is passed over due to her relationship with the Harper-Avery Foundation, that co-owns Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital.
- Cristina goes to speak at a hospital in Zurich, Switzerland, orchestrated by Preston Burke who built his own hospital following his winning of the Harper Avery.
He offers Cristina his job as the head of the hospital so that he can spend more time with his wife and kids. Cristina accepts the offer and interviews candidates for her replacement position at the hospital, including Maggie Pierce for the new chief of cardio.
Cristina transfers her hospital shares to Alex Karev and recommends he take over her seat on the board. At the end of season 10, she says goodbye to her co-workers she has come to know and love including Owen, Derek and Meredith. Cristina and Meredith share special moments reminiscing about all the horrors they went through and dancing it out one last time.
Cristina leaves for Zurich with surgical intern Shane Ross, who chooses to leave in order to study under her in Switzerland where she now owns a research hospital. There, Cristina thrives as the new owner. After Cristina left, the others mention her from time to time, going as far as in having a phone call with her.
- Her voice isn’t heard.
- She is last seen from behind at Derek’s funeral, sitting with Meredith.
- In season 16, Meredith gets text messages from Cristina saying she has given her a “gift”.
- Meredith spends the episode looking for the gift and at the conclusion of the episode we find that the gift from Yang was the new pediatric surgeon Cormac Hayes ( Richard Flood ), affectionately called McWidow.
He becomes a love interest for Meredith.
Is Owen cheating on Yang with Emily
ELLEN POMPEO First order of business: Your regular recapper extraordinaire, Tanner Stransky, is out. So you’re stuck with me for the duration of this recap. But I implore you to not pull the plug (pun intended) just yet. In last night’s “One Step Too Far” several of the doctors caught the flirting bug.
There’s always a steady amount of flirting and sexploits—it is Seattle Grace, the land of the dreamy doctors, after all—but some pushed the boundaries. And as Meredith pointed out in her voiceover, “our intentions are always pure, but we also have the drive to push boundaries. So we’re in danger of taking things too far.” So let’s dive right in Picking up where she left off a few weeks ago, Cristina was growing ever suspicious of Owen.
And as a viewer, I still couldn’t decide where I thought this was going. I hoped that Owen wasn’t cheating, but the end of the last new episode, it really seemed as though Cristina might be right. Matters were only made worse by the presence of hot nurse Emily (Summer Glau).
Her public flirting with Owen only made Cristina’s paranoia grow. Cristina remained tense the entire episode, until she couldn’t hold in her suspicious any longer: “Can you stop screwing my husband?” she yelled at Emily. Only, it turns out Emily was just flirting to get through her day. She has a boyfriend, and was never involved with Hunt.
Both Cristina and I let out a sigh of relief. But instead of easing our fears, the Grey’s writers decided to drop a huge bomb in the last few seconds of the episode. And instead of burying it on the last page of the recap, we’re going to talk about it now: Owen did cheat on Cristina, just not with Emily.
Cristina finally worked up the nerve to tell Owen how she’d been feeling, but he didn’t want to have the argument with her. She confessed she’d accused Emily of some extracurricular activity, but was relieved to hear that he “loves so much that it hurts.” At first, I was moved by his seemingly romantic gesture.
Then, he reworded it: “It hurts to love you.” Owen admitted his transgressions. Fade to black. And we’re all left in the lurch until a new Grey’s —at least two weeks away—wondering what’s going to happen next. Obviously, the biggest question is whom did he cheat with? My gut reaction is Teddy.
They have history. But she’s been so mad at him following Henry’s death, it doesn’t seem as likely. So unless it’s a newbie, I’m fresh out of guesses. Share you thoughts on the mystery mistress in the comments. NEXT: James Avery guest stars, and Debbie Allen returns I’ll admit, everything else that happened last seemed minor after hearing Owen’s jaw-dropping confession.
But we can’t leave the rest of the episode out. In the midst of dealing with her concerns, Cristina was on the case of a man who had suffered serious injuries from a car accident. The trauma had left him essentially brain-dead, and his husband, Sam (guest star James Avery ), had the power of attorney.
- Unable to grieve and let go, Sam just couldn’t pull the plug.
- Owen tasked Cristina to help convince him that it was really their best option.
- Then, Owen asked nurse Emily to help.
- This just pissed Cristina off, and made things awkward.
- The last person Cristina wanted to work with was Emily.
- And the last person you would want to leave with a patient in need of some compassion is Cristina.
But the combination of Emily and Cristina finally convinced Sam that there was nothing left they could possibly do to help him. Sam agreed to take his husband off the ventilator, and he gave the most moving speech about how he was never scared to commit when they first met.
- He was just scared about how much he loved him and how he would never find happiness without him.
- It was a stark contrast to all the relationship troubles plaguing Cristina and Owen.
- In much less depressing plot developments, Debbie Allen reprised her role as Catherine Avery.
- She came to Seattle Grace to assist Dr.
Bailey and Not The Chief Webber to give a woman a new bladder. That surgery was successful, and a woman was grateful she gained the ability to laugh without peeing herself. Catherine brought with her Mara Keaton, a star urology fellow, so Jackson could show her around.
- But it quickly became clear that Catherine had some ulterior motives for bringing Mara around.
- Like Jackson, I assumed that Mara was all part of some elaborate set up.
- Mark, intent on getting Jackson laid, fully supported Mara’s presence and tried to take work out of the equation so Jackson would have no choice but to, um, satisfy her.
Only Mara wasn’t there to date Jackson. She was there to spy on him! I’m not sure which is worse. Mama Avery had sent Mara to glean what she could about Jackson’s love life, work life, and any other worthwhile tidbit. Once he realized that it wasn’t a setup, Mara suddenly became more interesting.
Now privy to his mom’s plan, Jackson turned the tables and helped Mara stand up to Catherine. And then, like any good-looking, young, flirty doctors would, Jackson and Mara did it in the on call room. NEXT: Dr. Webber is still a really good guy, and Meredith returns to neuro In her short time at Seattle Grace, Catherine made sure she got in her own quality flirting time.
She and Webber had an episode-long rapport that ended with her inviting him to a black tie benefit. It was never anything serious, but after Dr. Bailey called Webber out on his innocent flirting, he realized it would be best to just return home to Adele.
Even if she wouldn’t recognize him when he got there. I don’t know about you, but I really love who Not The Chief has become this season, and that’s an all-around great guy. Also in a flirtatious mood was Morgan, the intern. Busy at the hospital caring for her newborn, she was helping Alex study for his boards and in the process becoming a smitten kitten.
Her premie, Tommy, was still not in the clear and had to have heart surgery even though he also had a brain bleed. (I swear, if that little boy dies I just won’t be able to handle it.) Alex, who has proven himself to be great in peds, easily became the object of Morgan’s affection.
- They aren’t hooking up yet, like Callie assumed, but I imagine it’s only time before something happens with these two.
- And yes, Alex doesn’t want a repeat of Ava/Rebecca, but we all know that doctors hook up with other hospital workers.
- Who cares if she’s his intern? Meanwhile, Derek wanted Meredith back on his neuro service.
Had I been in that bathtub with him (sans Meredith, of course) I could have told him that it was a bad idea. But Derek tends to get his way. So Meredith begrudgingly joined neuro for the day to assist him and Lexie on the case of a young woman, Lori, with a cyst in her temporal lobe.
In addition to her cyst, she also had a benign tumor in her brain, but they chose to leave it alone as it wasn’t causing any problems. The surgery was going well, but Derek was called away on another emergency case. Without him, Lexie successfully drained the cyst, and then saw the tumor just sitting there.
With Meredith’s approval, she decided to take it out. Bad move. When Derek found out about it, he was furious. Not only did they not get Lori’s consent for that procedure, he was worried that they caused her more damage. And of course, they did. When Lori woke up she’d lost all speaking ability.
It was an irreparable problem, and only after intense physical therapy would she ever regain even partial speech functionality. Another perfect example of good intentions going bad. Obviously, Derek was pissed. And he took a lot of it out on Meredith. But that’s one relationship I’m not too worried about.
Now Cristina and Owen? That’s a completely different story. Now it’s your turn: Were you shocked by Owen’s confession? Whom do you think he cheated with? Will Alex and Morgan hook up? And do you like Mara with Jackson? Sound off in the comments below.
Who did Derek cheat on Meredith with before he died
Alright, Grey’s Anatomy fans, after two weeks of wondering, let’s cut to the chase: Did Derek ( Patrick Dempsey ) cheat on Meredith ( Ellen Pompeo )? Ehh, I guess it depends on your definition of cheating. Here’s Derek’s story (which, honestly, is too simple to be true): His research fellow was the one who picked up his phone.
- Who knows why?! And he left it at the lab when he was on his way to the airport, and thus couldn’t answer Meredith’s calls.
- He flew back to Seattle because he realized he and Meredith had some things to work on.
- But Meredith isn’t buying it, thinking that Derek came back because he did something wrong and needed to fix it.
After all, she was Derek’s subordinate once upon a time, too. Pilot Inspector: We revisit Grey’s Anatomy, 10 years later So then we start to get the real story. In a flashback, we meet Derek’s research fellow, Renee (Scottie Thompson). And, as Meredith expected of the Other Woman, she is young and hot and has great hair (and great eyes, incidentally).
There seems to be an instant spark between her and Derek the first time they’re introduced, but maybe that’s just the benefit of speculative hindsight on our parts. Back to the present and Grey Sloan. Amelia ( Caterina Scorsone ) and Owen ( Kevin McKidd ) make awkward chit-chat in a scrub room while undressing each other with their eyes, and plan to meet up that night in hopes of getting some coitus sans interruptus,
But it looks like their plans are about to get derailed: Owen’s mother Evelyn is in the hospital after falling in the shower. And she’s got her extremely handsome, extremely young, uniformed boyfriend, John, in tow. Owen takes immediate issue with their romance, noting that John is young enough to be his brother.
- Elsewhere, Alex ( Justin Chambers ) introduces Meredith to a young liver patient named Danny, who keeps getting infections as he waits for a transplant.
- Meredith immediately suggests surgery, but Alex and Danny’s sister would prefer a more conservative approach.
- And Jo ( Camilla Luddington ) is treating a patient who feels like she has a full-body headache.
But, when Jo goes to wipe her “nose bleed,” it retracts itself and she realizes it’s actually a, parasite? Worm? Whatever it is, it’s horrifying. VIDEO: How well do the stars of Grey’s Anatomy know medical jargon? Maggie ( Kelly McCreary ), Alex and Callie ( Sara Ramirez ) all think it’s a bad sign that Derek immediately hopped on a plane to come home. ABC Amelia’s getting some bonding time with Owen’s mother as she performs a scan, with Mrs. Hunt confiding that she knows most people think of her and John’s relationship as a joke, but she’s having the time of her life. It’s all very sweet and touching and a reminder that old people can find love too.
- When Alex’s patient Danny has another episode, he decides (to the great annoyance of Alex and his sister) that he wants to have the risky surgery that Meredith recommended.
- Back to D.C.: After Derek sees Renee smash a coffee mug in frustration, she confides in him that she’s been doing a research project for over a year with no results, and feels like she’s wasting her time.
Derek advises her that that feeling probably means she’s close to a breakthrough. “Keep going. You’re right at the line. You’re going to cross it. Don’t stop,” he tells her, as she stares at him lustily. Excellent word choice, Derek. Really, top notch. After her heart-to-heart with Amelia, Evelyn’s bubble gets burst when Owen (after sweetly bringing her underwear and socks from the Grey Sloan Memorial gift shop) voices his concern that she’s being taken advantage of.
He stops short of saying there’s no way a man like John could love his mother – but not before Evelyn gets the gist of it, and looks devastated. To make matters worse, when Amelia starts to gush to Owen about how great his mom is, he rather harshly tells her to “stay the hell out of” the situation. Mega Buzz: What might keep Owen and Amelia apart on Grey’s Anatomy ? Jo has realized, after some probing, that there is indeed a “critter” residing inside her patient’s sinus cavity.
But, as she tries to lure the creature out of her patient’s noise with some steam and tweezers, the patient – who’s making a good play for Most Annoying Grey’s Patient Ever, by the way – smacks her away. And Alex and Meredith continue to snipe at one another as they’re performing surgery on Danny, who ends up coding and dying – thus bringing an end to Meredith’s streak, perfectly timed to Derek’s return in Seattle.
- After they break the news to Danny’s sister, Meredith blames Alex for doubting her and Alex gives her a hug, knowing that she’s really just frustrated about stuff with Derek.
- He’s really getting the hang of this Person thing!) Evelyn, meanwhile, has apparently taken Owen’s words to heart.
- When John brings her some fresh clothes and a journal he picked up at the gift shop, she gives him the cold shoulder in return and starts to call things off with him – but then suddenly goes into shock because of a ruptured,
something in her stomach. Owen obviously panics, but later softens when he sees a heartbroken John sitting in the waiting room, saying he’s not going to leave until he knows that Evelyn is alright. Which she is – but only because she was already in the hospital when the rupture happened.
- Owen finally warms up to John, who reconciles with Evelyn and tells her she looks beautiful even in a hospital bed.
- Cut to the day before in Washington D.C.
- Derek calls Renee at 1 a.m.
- Because he’s “thinking about her research.” He drags her out of bed (not personally) and down to the lab.
- They finally get a breakthrough, and an elated Renee tells Derek, “I could kiss you!” Derek halfheartedly says he needs to go, but doesn’t actually leave and they lock lips in the lab.
And, if that weren’t enough to make fans’ stomachs turn, back at Grey Sloan, April ( Sarah Drew ) tells the sinus patient that the creature is eventually going to start chomping its way up to her brain, and she finally agrees to let Jo pull it out. Turns out it was a leech! Jo decides to name it Herbie and keep him as a pet.
Outside the hospital, Amelia (rightfully) yells at Owen for being a “jackass” and snapping at her earlier. Needless to say, she’s not really in the mood to go on a date with him. But after learning that neither one of them is good with “surprises,” they go back to Owen’s place and finally do the deed.
Spring TV Preview: Get scoop on 32 must-see new shows Then we see Meredith come home and, even though she (presumably?) doesn’t get the whole truth from Derek, we do. He quickly aborted the kiss with Renee and ran out of the lab (leaving his phone – so he was sort of telling the truth).
- I love my wife.
- I’m married,” he tells Renee just before fleeing the scene.
- I don’t want anything other than what I have with her.” He and Meredith have a sweet vow renewal of sorts, with Derek saying that he mistakenly thought D.C.
- With everything, but Meredith is really his everything and he doesn’t want to live without her.
Meredith says that, while she can live without Derek, she doesn’t want to. And they all lived happily ever after? What do you think, Grey’s fans? Should Derek have told Meredith about the kiss? Do you consider it cheating? And are you happy Derek is back in Seattle? Sound off in the comments! Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC.

Why does Cristina think Owen is cheating
2 He Cheated On Cristina To Punish Her For Her Personal Choices – After Cristina had her abortion, there was a serious strain on her marriage. Owen wanted to keep the baby, but Cristina was adamant about not having children. He tried to support her choice, but went on to resent her. His cold treatment lead Cristina to suspect infidelity.
Who does Owen marry after Cristina?
Storylines – Before his regular appearances on the show, Owen Hunt was a United States Army surgeon, specializing in trauma surgery, He held the rank of Major. The character makes a dramatic first appearance when he performs a tracheotomy on a man with a pen, winning the admiration of resident Cristina Yang ( Sandra Oh ).
- He is offered a job by former chief of surgery Richard Webber ( James Pickens, Jr.), but declines, explaining that he has not completed his tour in Iraq.
- His appointment as the new head of trauma surgery at Seattle Grace Hospital was not well-received initially.
- By his first week he manages to irk both Derek Shepherd ( Patrick Dempsey ) and Mark Sloan ( Eric Dane ), head of neurosurgery and plastic surgery, respectively, who view his treatment of some of the patients as crude, and also rebuffed by resident Izzie Stevens ( Katherine Heigl ) when he stabs a set of pigs and then orders the residents and interns to save their lives, in order to teach them medicine on “live tissue.” Hunt eventually embarks on a relationship with Yang, but it comes to a sudden close when his PTSD gets the best of him, and he unconsciously strangles her.
Soon after the breakup, he begins therapy with the hospital psychiatrist, Dr. Wyatt. Some time later, a soldier visits the hospital for treatment, and his presence influences Owen to contemplate returning to the US Army. When he shares this with Cristina, she disagrees with his decision, stating that she doesn’t want him to die, and the two eventually rekindle their relationship.
Owen brings in Teddy Altman ( Kim Raver ), his best friend and colleague from when he was in the army, as the new head of cardiothoracic surgery, When it is revealed that Hunt and Altman may be potential lovers, Hunt and Yang’s relationship is challenged, and eventually concluded by Yang. During a hospital shooting, Owen is shot and injured, attracting the sympathy of Cristina, who subsequently restores their relationship.
Due to the emotional reverberations of the shooting crisis, Owen and Cristina decide to wed one another shortly after their reconciliation, not wanting to risk separation. There are some concerns from Cristina’s friends that Owen is taking advantage of her PTSD to rush her into marriage, which she had previously decided against.
- When Cristina discovers she is pregnant, Owen is displeased with her desire to abort the baby, and the two separate from each other.
- One of the major, recurring points of conflict in their relationship are Owen’s strong desires for children and a traditional wife, and Cristina’s equally strong conviction that she never wants children.
In the fallout of resident Meredith Grey ( Ellen Pompeo ) tampering with Derek Shepherd’s Alzheimer’s trial, Owen is promoted to Chief of Surgery after Webber steps down. After substantial thought, Owen reluctantly decides to accompany Cristina to the abortion, uniting the two.
Owen’s friendship with Teddy ends when Owen lies to Teddy about her husband’s sudden death, due to Owen wanting her to finish a surgery she was currently performing and Teddy blaming Owen for her husband’s death. Feeling abandoned and disconcerted after an altercation with Cristina, Owen has a one-night stand with a patient’s friend.
Cristina consequently finds out, terminates their relationship, and their marriage is tested. After Cristina passed her medical boards, she reconciles with Owen, but reveals to him that she is leaving Seattle to go to Mayo Clinic, Teddy and Owen eventually became friends again.
She had been offered a position at the United States Army Medical Command but chose to stay at Seattle Grace Mercy West out of loyalty. After Teddy’s husband Henry dies she wallows in her grief and it affects her colleagues and residents, causing Owen to “fire” her so that she can have a fresh start elsewhere.
He also fires April Kepner ( Sarah Drew ) because the hospital cannot afford to keep her due to her not being Board certified. Months later, Hunt visits Kepner and rehires her as he realized he made a mistake. In later seasons, Owen and Kepner become close friends due to her choice to sign up with the military, a decision Owen helped prompt and encourage, and a decision which leads to the eventual end of Kepner’s marriage to Avery.
- In season 9, Cristina and Owen’s marriage is again very strained.
- Cristina is working at Mayo Clinic and Owen is in Seattle but she eventually returns and then Owen asks for a divorce.
- He later shows that he is still in love with her and only asked for a divorce so Cristina and the others involved in the plane crash could get the money.
Cristina and Owen reconcile in episode 9 before Bailey’s wedding. In season 10, Cristina decides to accept a job to run a state of the art clinic in Switzerland. Owen supports her decision as he realizes no good could come from him asking her to stay. He requests that Cristina not to leave him until she has to leave him for good, and they spend the two weeks leading to her permanent departure together.
While saying her farewell to her colleagues of the last seven years, there is a possible act of terrorism in Seattle, which later turns out to be just a gas main explosion. Cristina has a quick but emotional goodbye hug with Derek, Bailey, and Webber; leaves her shares of the hospital to Alex; and dances it out with Meredith one last time to an old favorite song.
Owen, however, is busy saving a patient in the operating room so they share a silent goodbye through the gallery’s glass. In Season 11, Owen develops a relationship with Amelia Shepherd, This is off-and-on throughout Seasons 11 and 12 until the end of Season 12 where he and Amelia get married, after Amelia proposes to him.
- Owen is attracted to Amelia’s desire for a “real family” and children.
- In Season 14, after going through a series of marital issues, Owen decides to pursue a divorce from Amelia, citing Amelia’s reversal on wanting to have children and her increasingly erratic behavior.
- Owen listens to Amelia when she, in a fit of pique, tells him to go be with Teddy.
As a result, he flies to Germany to be with Teddy, but, after they spend the night together, Owen reveals he is there at his wife’s suggestion. Teddy is insulted he made her a last choice, citing his inability to be alone, and Teddy breaks it off. Owen returns to Grey Sloan alone.
- It is later discovered that Amelia’s behavior was caused by a brain tumor.
- In a reversal of blame, Amelia is angry that Owen placed sole blame on her for their marital issues, as well as committing adultery with Teddy, since he ignored all of her tumor symptoms as selfishness and poor character.
- Despite pursuing their divorce, they continue sleeping together.
Owen decides to pursue his lifelong dream of fatherhood alone and begins fostering Leo, a baby who was given up by his teenage mother. When Amelia finds Leo’s mother, Betty, homeless and addicted to drugs, Amelia takes Betty in, and, together, Owen and Amelia take care of Leo and Betty at Owen’s home, reconciling and deciding to stay in their relationship and renew their marriage.
In Season 15, Owen and Amelia have a strong relationship, which is interrupted by the news that Teddy is pregnant with Owen’s child. Teddy did not tell Owen at first, because she knew he would leave Amelia for the chance to be a father, and Teddy does not want to be with Owen after he made her his alternate choice.
Owen is upset because he would not have reconciled with Amelia or fostered Leo if Teddy had told him earlier that he was expecting a biological child. This causes additional tension with Amelia, who knows Owen would have left her without trying to salvage their marriage.
- In light of Teddy’s disinterest, Owen tells Amelia he chooses her.
- However, Owen continues to exhibit possessive and obsessive behavior over Teddy and her pregnancy, causing Amelia to permanently split from their relationship.
- Owen then adopts Leo as his son and welcomes his newborn daughter, Allison, with Teddy, whom they named after Teddy’s best friend Allison Brown, who died during the collapse of the second tower on September 11, 2001,
Teddy has a change of mind and decides to try a relationship with Owen. In Season 16, Owen is in a relationship with Teddy, whom he had previously given his position as Grey-Sloan’s Head of Trauma to keep her in the country. Owen has a contentious relationship with the new Chief of Surgery, Koracick, whom Teddy had dated during her pregnancy.
- After Owen accidentally electrocutes his genitals, Koracick takes out a restraining order against Owen, requiring him to be 500 feet away.
- Teddy has been finding motherhood overwhelming and hating her maternity leave, so Owen decides to take paternity leave to allow her to return to work.
- His paternity leave turns into a resignation.
Owen eventually accepts an offer from Karev to become Chief of Trauma at Pac-North after he finds stay-at-home parenting overwhelming and boring, though when Pac-North merges with Grey Sloan, Owen returns to Grey Sloan. At the end of the season, Owen discovers that Teddy is cheating on him with Koracick after Teddy accidentally sends Owen a voicemail of her and Koracick having sex.
In Season 17, Owen confronts Teddy about her affair and ends their engagement. He and Teddy butt heads at work, as Owen is unable to forgive Teddy, but he eventually offers her friendship after she falls in a catatonic state from overworking herself in the COVID-19 pandemic frontlines. Owen and Teddy start sleeping with each other again, and in the season finale, Owen proposes to Teddy, which she accepts.
In the beginning of Season 18, Owen and Teddy got married at the Emerald City Bar after their wedding at the Park was interrupted by a bicycle accident.
Does Owen love Christina or Teddy?
They Work: They’ve Always Been In Love With Each Other – It is also quite evident from Teddy’s first introduction to the show that she was in love with Owen. But Owen and Cristina were in a relationship then, and Owen had to choose one of them. Ultimately, Owen ended up choosing Cristina over Teddy. But that didn’t mean the chemistry between disappeared.
Does Christina get pregnant by Owen
Her Pregnancy Struggles – Cristina was clear about not wanting a baby. This was understandable but fate seemed to interfere with her wishes all the time. When she got intimate with Preston Burke, she ended up getting pregnant. While debating whether to get an abortion or not, Cristina soon found herself rushed to the OR with an ectopic pregnancy.
Why is Dr Hahn so mean to Cristina?
Cristina Yang – She had a rough relationship with Cristina Yang, consistently denying her the privilege of sucking up, and making her fight her way to stay on the cardio program. Her first day at Seattle Grace, Erica made it clear that personal and professional life would be separate things, telling Cristina “if you had the chops in the operating room, you wouldn’t need to impress in the bedroom”, referencing Cristina’s tendency to have relationships with her former teachers.
This harsh attitude didn’t go unnoticed. Miranda Bailey, noting Hahn’s attitude towards Cristina, advised her to focus on a new surgical specialty (an act of ‘reverse psychology’ in that by suggesting that she choose something else, Cristina would be more determined to stick with cardio and resist Hahn’s hostility).
During her brief visit, Addison witnessed some of Hahn’s hostility and asked why she was so closed to Cristina. Hahn then admitted to her that Cristina reminded her of herself when she was younger. Richard Webber noticed this tendency of Hahn to shut Cristina out, particularly after Cristina was able to perform a life-saving procedure without assistance despite Hahn having taught her virtually nothing.
After the surgery Richard confronted Erica, saying that Cristina’s work in the OR should have given her reason to celebrate as it showed she was doing her job effectively. However as this clearly was not the case in this instance, he backed Cristina up and insisted that if she wished to remain in the hospital she would have to improve her teaching methods and not destroy the spirits of her residents.
As a result, Erica made an effort to reevaluate her professional technique. Outside the hospital Hahn was equally hostile to Cristina; while Hahn and Meredith helped Callie and Cristina move into their new apartment, Hahn remained as unpleasant toward Cristina as ever.
What happens to Cristina and Owen’s baby
In ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, in what episode does Christina lose her baby, and how? She became involved with Dr. Burke; after she became pregnant, she kept the pregnancy a secret from him until she collapsed one day at work and learned she had an ectopic pregnancy, which had to be aborted.
Who does Alex Karev end up with?
Storylines – Alex’s mother had a mental illness, and his father was often absent, as well as often becoming violent towards him and his mother. Alex began wrestling in high school, and eventually physically confronted his father, after which, his father did not return.
- Alex has a younger brother, Aaron, and a younger sister, Amber; they were all placed in foster care for 5 years.
- Though Aaron and Amber only had a few foster families, Alex went through 17 foster families in 5 years before he was reunited with his siblings.
- It is revealed in later seasons that Aaron was diagnosed with schizophrenia and tried to kill Amber.
Alex was present when Aaron had to be committed to a psychiatric ward. Alex secured a position in the surgical residency program at Seattle Grace Hospital after graduating from the University of Iowa, He initially makes a poor impression meeting his fellow interns Meredith Grey ( Ellen Pompeo ), Cristina Yang ( Sandra Oh ), George O’Malley ( T.R.
Night ) and Izzie Stevens ( Katherine Heigl ) whom he later taunts when he discovers she used to be a lingerie model. After initial disagreements, Alex reveals to Izzie that his father was a heroin addict who used to beat his mother. He became a wrestler so he could defend his mother, and attended university on a wrestling scholarship.
He and Izzie begin a friendship. At the end of the first season, George contracts syphilis from Alex through nurse Olivia Harper, causing animosity between the two. Alex asks Izzie out on a date, but he is thrown by the news that he has failed his medical board exams.
Izzie is offended since he pays no attention to her during their date and so informs him that she no longer wants to go out with him. He later freezes during an emergency operation, needing George to take over from him. Alex’s relationship with Izzie is damaged when he experiences erectile dysfunction with her.
He goes on to sleep with Olivia again, and is caught by Izzie and they break up. After retaking his exams, Alex manages to pass, and reunites with Izzie after a bomb scare in the hospital, They break up again, however, when Izzie falls for cardiothoracic patient Denny Duquette,

In the aftermath of a ferry accident, Alex rescues a pregnant woman ( Elizabeth Reaser ) who awakens with amnesia, and grows close to Alex as he helps her forge an identity for herself, picking out the name Ava.
After she gives birth to her daughter, Ava’s memory eventually returns, although she tries to hide it from Alex, as she had recently left a bad marriage. He convinces her to tell him her true identity, and she reveals herself to be Rebecca Pope. Alex turns her down after realizing she’s married, feeling that he is not good enough for her.
Rebecca returns and she and Alex sleep together before she goes back to her husband. Alex has a brief relationship with intern Lexie Grey ( Chyler Leigh ), but chooses to be with Rebecca, when she returns and tells him she is pregnant. After Rebecca attempted suicide, Izzie convinces Alex to admit her for psychiatric help, due to Rebecca’s hallucinations of her pregnancy.
Alex later breaks down in Izzie’s arms, and the two kiss. Later in their relationship, Izzie begins hallucinating about Denny, and uncovers the fact she has Stage 4 metastatic melanoma with an estimated chance of 5% survival. It is revealed that Izzie’s hallucinations of Denny are, in fact, caused by her tumor.
Alex is shocked by the news, but finds the strength to stay by her side. Izzie plans a wedding for Meredith and Derek, but when Derek finds Izzie has another inoperable tumor in her brain, they give the wedding to Izzie and Alex, who marry in front of all their friends,
Izzie debates whether or not she should undergo a risky surgery to remove her tumor and Alex supports her, but eventually insists that she should have the surgery. Alex performs CPR on Izzie after she flatlines. Izzie returns to work, but is soon fired for making a treatment error that endangered the life of a patient, leaving Alex a Dear John letter and no clue as to her whereabouts.
She later returns to the hospital, when she found out Alex wasn’t the cause of her getting fired and went to make amends with him. She tells him she no longer has cancer and Alex says he is happy for her but he deserved someone who would stay. Izzie then leaves Seattle to start fresh and sends Alex divorce papers a few episodes later.
Alex re-kindles an old flame with Lexie. Alex seems to have recently found that his calling is actually Peds and not Plastics, as he had decided in the earlier seasons. Seeing Alex’s ability to handle child patients, Dr. Arizona Robbins shows an interest in mentoring him for that specialization. Alex’s brother Aaron comes to Seattle Grace for surgery, and lots of painful memories resurface because of this.
Meredith discovers Alex, along with Aaron and their sister Amber, had been in foster care for five years when their mother could not take care of them. Alex is shot in the hospital by a deceased patient’s husband, but survives with the help of Lexie and Mark.
- While undergoing treatment, he asked for Izzie and told her never to leave again.
- Following the shooting, Lexie has a mental breakdown in front of Alex and he walks away. Dr.
- Bailey bars Alex from surgery until he has the bullet removed, which he later allows her to do.
- Alex realizes that his passion lies in pediatric surgery,
He is further shown to be excellent with children, comforting with a young patient while growing her a new trachea. He immediately gets on the wrong side of new Pediatric attending, Stark while Arizona is on leave. Alex is thrilled when Arizona returns from Africa and hopes she will come to work for the hospital again.
- In the meantime, Alex falls for the new OBGYN attending, Lucy Fields, and they start a relationship after she kisses him.
- Alex finds out about Meredith sabotaging her Alzheimer’s clinical trial and rats her out, an attempt to get Chief Resident.
- The adoption counselor takes away Zola, the child Meredith wanted to adopt.
Realizing his mistake, Alex apologizes to Meredith, who forgives him shortly after. As the end of the fifth year of residency is near, the surgical residents, including Alex, prepare for their board exams for the different fellowships they plan on joining.
- Though Alex is late for his exam, because he had to treat a patient, he ends up passing. Dr.
- Webber tells him that Johns Hopkins Hospital, which has the top program in the country, has been very impressed with him during his boards and has decided to create a position in pediatrics surgery for him and accepts the position.
After finding out his decision, his current boss, Dr. Arizona Robbins, yells at him and takes his place on a plane that later crashes. Following the rescue of his colleagues, Robbins’ health deteriorates and causes her leg to be amputated. He extends his stay at Seattle Grace until a replacement for Robbins is found, but when he learns that the replacement will send the exchange program to UCLA, he decides not to leave.
- Arev buys Meredith’s old house from her, and Cristina becomes his roommate.
- Arev forms a friendship with a new intern, Jo Wilson, that eventually develops into romantic feelings towards each other.
- Alex admits his love for Jo, and the two kiss and become a couple.
- Alex’s estranged father, Jimmy, who he hasn’t seen in 18 years, is admitted to the ER as a patient.
Unknowing that Alex is his son, Jimmy confides in Alex that he had another family that he hasn’t seen in years. This made Alex upset and he punches Jimmy at the bar. His father returns, experiencing symptoms of withdrawal and hallucinations of the past, where more is revealed about Alex’s childhood.
Jimmy tells Alex he knows that he is his son and Alex yells at him. His dad later goes into cardiac arrest and is brought into surgery. During surgery, Ross halucinates about brook’s death by electrocution and damages Jimmy’s heart. The damage eventually leads to Jimmy dying with Alex at his bedside, before he dies, Alex lies to Jimmy by saying his other wife and child are on the way and know he loves them.
They took back their guitar and left wanting no contact with him. Believing Alex’s words, Jimmy lets go and dies. Alex kisses Jo at April’s wedding, wanting to start a family with her. That night, followinghis dad’s death, due to a mistake by intern, Shane Ross, Alex is upset.
He punches Ross and is later comforted by Meredith. Upon the completion of his fellowship in Pediatric Surgery, Alex is given an offer to work at Dr. Oliver Lebackes’ private practice office, claiming that he will have more flexible hours and “a big fat paycheck”. He later discovers that he isn’t happy working at the private practice and expresses a desire to return full-time to Grey Sloan.
When Cristina leaves for Switzerland, she leaves Alex her share of the board, including her seat. Alex is fired by Dr. Lebackes, when Maggie Pierce accidentally reveals to him that Karev was thinking about leaving the job. Webber recommended Bailey to fill Yang’s board seat after she left, so Bailey and Alex fight over the chair.
- They both make presentations to the board and eventually Bailey wins, with a unanimous vote in her favor.
- He is hired back as an attending pediatric surgeon and takes over full-time as Arizona pursues a fellowship with Dr. Herman.
- Alex continues to date Jo and his friendship with Meredith grows stronger than ever, with him taking on the role of her new person.
When Derek dies and Meredith runs away, Alex is upset by her leaving without telling him where she went and calls her every day. Eventually she calls him, tells him she is okay, and to stop calling. When she goes into labor and gives birth to Ellis Shepherd, Alex goes to see her since he is her emergency contact.
- She asks to move back in with him in her old house.
- Alex sells Meredith back the house and he and Jo rent a loft.
- In the third episode of the twelfth season, Jo finds an invoice from the fertility clinic, housing Izzie and Alex’s frozen embryos.
- She then gets jealous of Alex wanting to have babies with Izzie.
Alex and Jo continue to struggle with their relationship. When Karev proposes to her, Jo tells him she can’t marry him, so he breaks up with her. Later, Alex realizes that he misses Jo and gets her back. They seem to be doing well for some time, until Alex brings up marriage again and the two fight, as Jo still continues to argue that she cannot marry him.
Alex storms out, leaving their relationship uncertain. Meredith and Alex lie on the grass and talk about love. On Jo rejecting his proposal, Alex then wonders, if he’ll get only one soulmate/true love and refers to Izzie. Meredith then tells him Izzie wasn’t his true love and Alex told her Izzie was his Derek.
During Owen and Amelia’s wedding, Alex realizes that even though she won’t marry him, he loves Jo and goes back to her again. However, when he arrives at their loft, he finds Jo highly intoxicated, wearing nothing but her bra and underwear, and surgical intern, Andrew Deluca, lying on top of her.
Alex assumes that Deluca was attempting to take advantage of Jo while she was inebriated and is filled with rage. He beats Deluca to a pulp with his bare hands. Andrew is badly injured, Alex realizes what he’s done and quickly rushes Deluca to the hospital. There, the doctors call the police as they struggle to save Andrew and discover who did this to him.
Alex lies to everyone and says that he found Andrew in this state and brought him to Grey Sloan. However, Ben Warren is suspicious of Karev. Meredith also quickly realizes that Alex was in fact the one who beat Deluca. She covers for him and the two continue to lie to everyone in the hospital about Alex’s actions.
Soon, Karev learns that Andrew wasn’t doing anything wrong and that he had beaten up a good guy. Meredith decides that even though she loves Alex, she needs to turn him in. She goes to Bailey and tells her the truth. But, when the two rush to the police they find Alex being arrested for aggravated assault, as he had turned himself in.
He is taken to jail and Meredith bails him out. While they wait for a trial, Bailey suspends Alex as an attending and makes him work in the clinic. Eventually, Jo finally tells Alex that the reason she couldn’t marry Alex is because she is already married.
- Her husband is abusive and so she ran away and changed her name to Jo Wilson so that he wouldn’t find her.
- Alex realizes that when Jo is called to the stand as a witness in the trial, this information about her past and lack of records under the name Jo Wilson may be revealed, and when the information goes public, her husband may find her.
To keep her safe, he decides to take the plea deal without a trial, ensuring that he goes to jail for 2 years. However, when Alex tells Meredith this, she begs him not to and tells him that she can’t lose him because she’s already lost everyone else important in her life.
Alex struggles to decide whether or not to take the plea deal. Meredith finds that the trial had been put off indefinitely. She assumes that he took the plea, and began calling and visiting various local jails to find him. After a full day of searching without finding him, she goes home to sleep and discovers him sleeping in her bed.
He explains he slept there all day. He explains that during his meeting with the D.A., Deluca came in and dropped all charges. After returning to work, Alex and Jo try to ignore each other and eventually build up a tolerance of sorts towards each other.
Deluca and Alex continue to be at odds. At the end of the season, Alex hires an investigator to look for Jo’s abusive husband. The investigator finds him and tells Alex that he will be at a conference. Meredith tells him it’s a horrible idea and that he shouldn’t go, especially considering Jo doesn’t know about the situation.
Alex flies out to the conference with the intention of telling him to get out of her life, no matter the means. When he meets him, Alex decides against confronting him over Jo, avoiding exposing her current identity and location and potentially stopping himself from assaulting someone yet again.
- At the start of season 14, Alex and Jo start to warm up to each other.
- Jo tells Deluca that she is still in love with Alex.
- Alex goes to Jo and tells her that he could never abuse her like her husband did because he dealt with the same trauma as a kid as his father was abusive.
- He then tells her that he found her husband.
Jo is taken aback by this, but when Alex tells her that he didn’t kill or injure him in any way, she is relieved and finally trusts him again. They then restart their relationship and Jo is now encouraged to file for divorce against her abusive husband.
In the seventh episode, there was a pregnant Izzie look alike and Alex is taken aback and stammers when he talks to her. In the twenty-second episode, he finds out about his mom because she was not depositing the checks he had been sending to her. When he went to Iowa to meet her mom, he finds out that she is completely fine and doing well in her life.
Initially, he is angry with her being well because it let him have a bad childhood, but after talking to Jo, he forgives her and invites her to Seattle Grace for his marriage. In the finale, he finally marries Jo. In the 15th season, he and Jo are about to move to Boston for Jo’s fellowship but then, she finally stays in Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital.
- Meanwhile, Dr.
- Bailey needed some time from her position as Chief so she announced Alex as interim Chief of Grey-Sloan Memorial hospital for 6 months.
- Jo tells him that her birth mother lives in Pittsburgh and flies there to meet her.
- After coming back, she doesn’t talk about it to Alex and even stops going to work, which makes Alex worry.
Later, he knew about her mental health and sends her to rehab for a month, where Jo gives him the opportunity to back off from the relationship because they were not legally married. Throughout, Alex helped Meredith to do fraud with an insurance company to save a girl’s life and for that, Alex is fired from his position as the head of pediatric surgery at the end of the season.
The following season, he marries Jo for a second time and helps save Meredith from losing her medical license. Midway through season 16, he disappeared to Iowa to see his mom, but it was revealed in the episode ” Leave a Light On “, Alex reconnected with Izzie, in the weeks leading up to Meredith’s trial seeking her medical license to be reinstated.
It was during that process that he chose to reach out to Izzie because he wanted to know if she was alive, okay, and willing to be there in person for Meredith’s trial. During the call, Alex heard two young voices in the background. It was then he discovered that Izzie had taken the embryos they had frozen during her cancer treatment and moved forward with IVF five to six years earlier and that they were his kids.
Who is the nurse that Christina thinks Owen is cheating?
Career – Emily is a nurse at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, She had been on days in the CCU, but more recently switched to in the surgical ICU handling traumas.
Who does Callie end up with?
Characterization – While we are disheartened that the burgeoning relationship between Callie and Erica has come to an end, the character of Callie, who has now been identified as a bisexual woman by show creator Shonda Rhimes, remains and her journey continues.
- Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation on Torres’ bisexual storyline The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) characterized Torres as “driven”, “determined”, and “outgoing”, while also noting her weaknesses: “defensive” and “impulsive”.
- Ramirez described their character as someone who “appears to be a certain way, but has some very complex issues going on behind the scenes.
She seems to be a very strong personality, someone who really believes in herself and has worked very hard to get where she is. She’s very competitive but does have a sense of self, so she doesn’t need to win all the time.” At Torres’ initial appearance on the show, she was disliked by fans, due to her getting in the way of O’Malley and Meredith Grey ‘s ( Ellen Pompeo ) relationship.
When asked of this, Ramirez said: “You do run across a lot of people who are extremely invested in that storyline. Obviously, I’ve heard some negative stuff.” The end of the show’s fourth season saw Torres grow closer to cardiothoracic surgeon Erica Hahn, in a relationship referred to by the portmanteau “Eri-Cal” and later “Callica” by Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly,
Rhimes stated that: “Callie and Erica have an undeniable chemistry, and watching the story unfold is something the writers are looking forward to. I wanted to illuminate their relationship in the same way we do all relationships on the show — it will be funny, sweet, honest, and a little bit dirty.” Torres served as the primary vocalist in the show’s musical episode, ” Song Beneath the Song “, being described as “amazing” by fellow cast member, Kevin McKidd, She explained that in developing the relationship between the two: “we wanted it to be real – not some stunt to get people talking.
We wanted to see what would happen if a woman suddenly had feelings for another woman.” The two characters shared a kiss at the end of the season 4 finale, with which D. Williams of AfterEllen.com noted: “Callie and Erica became the only regular lesbian/bisexual female characters currently on network television.
This is also the first time that 2 regular characters on a network show have begun a lesbian romance, as opposed to one becoming involved with a new lesbian character introduced expressly for that relationship.” Before continuing with the storyline, the show’s producers consulted with the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to ensure they maintained realism throughout.
Trish Doolan, star of April’s Shower was invited to consult in the workshop sessions which took place, and surmised that; “They were really wanting to be truthful to the 2 characters they’re focusing on in the woman-woman relationship”, with Nikki Weiss, who also consulted, adding: “they didn’t want to stereotype anything either, and write from a place where they didn’t understand it.
I don’t think they did it as a stunt to get people back to watching after the strike, I really think that they wanted to develop these two characters, and that you could see a closeness with them way before they ever decided any kind of — I think they just have a chemistry together, as actresses, too.
You could tell that in the room. They definitely have a chemistry.” In the show’s fifth season, Torres embarked on a relationship with Arizona Robbins (Capshaw). Fans refer to the relationship between the two by the portmanteau “Calzona” (for Cal lie + Ari zona ). Rhimes praised the chemistry between Callie and Arizona in contrast, comparing it to that between the show’s primary couple Grey and Derek Shepherd ( Patrick Dempsey ), and stating: “They have that little thing that makes you want to watch them.” In “An Honest Mistake”, Torres was initially rejected by Robbins, with Robbins citing Torres’ “inexperience” as a factor.
Series writer Peter Nowalk offered the insight: I totally understand why Arizona wouldn’t want to date a newborn. It’s like getting a Freshman as your Physics lab partner even though you’re a Senior who not only knows the Laws of Motion but has mastered them in ways that would rock that Freshman’s world.
- Which is not to say the Freshman won’t grow to be really good at Physics, or that Callie won’t catch up to Arizona on the lesbian front, it’s simply that Arizona might not have the patience to wait that long.
- Peter Nowalk, Grey Matter The couple ultimately decided to begin a relationship, however, the two experience difficulties, but eventually reunite.
Rhimes commented on their reconciliation: “I love with Arizona. I like that they make me feel hopeful about love.” Rhimes has mentioned of their relationship in season 6 : “I would like to see Callie happily in a long-term relationship. We have so much to explore with them, because we barely know anything about,” Callie and Arizona have a five-year relationship, ultimately marrying in season 7 and divorcing in season 11,

Did Derek cheat on Mer?
Derek Kind Of Cheated On Meredith, But The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Couple Found Their Way Back To Each Other This week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy had its ups and downs. So, bad news first:, I know, I was so disappointed in him. But his actions after the event spoke volumes as he rushed right home and declared to Meredith that she was the one for him.
Now Meredith doesn’t know about the kiss but maybe that’s for the best, because Derek is home and, Although I’m an advocate for honesty, I think it’s better that the kiss Derek shared with his research fellow stays in the past. The moment it happened Derek knew it was wrong, and he stopped it and told the woman that he loved his wife and didn’t want to be with anyone else.
Then he flew home and gave Meredith a romantic speech. “I thought DC was everything but I was wrong. You are,” he told her. “I love you and I’m not going to stop loving you. Meredith, I can’t live without you.” It seems like it took him leaving his wife and children behind for Derek to realize that his family was enough.
- Yeah new research projects are cool, but they’re not worth throwing your whole life away over.
- But I’m the most proud of Meredith because she didn’t just take Derek back the second he came home.
- This has been a season full of growth for her.
- She’s realized that she doesn’t need Derek to survive, and that she’s a great doctor in her own right.
So it was major that she stood up for herself when Derek gave his romantic speech and didn’t just cave. “I can live without you,” she told him firmly. “But I don’t want to.” I’m glad that MerDer isn’t breaking up, but I’m even more glad that they’re staying together because they both truly want to, and not because they feel obligated or they’re scared to be alone.

Meredith made her decision to leave in the Season 19 mid-season finale. What does this mean for Meredith’s relationship with Nick Marsh ()? The pair rekindled their romance when Nick returned in Season 18 and struck up a long-distance relationship. That connection has continued in Season 19, but time will tell whether they can keep things going after Meredith’s re-location.
Meredith’s quest for ever-lasting love has been a driving force across the long-running medical drama. The most iconic, of course, was her relationship with Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd (), which had its many ups and downs until Derek tragically died in a car accident in Season 11.
- Related Following Derek’s death, Meredith had several other flings and almost romances.
- This included a one-night stand with George O’Malley (), who also ended up dying in a later season, a quick fling with Dr.
- Will Thorpe (Scott Elrod), and a drunken kiss that turned into a romance with Andrew DeLuca (), who also later died after a fatal stabbing.
Check out the gallery below of all of Meredith’s romances over the years, and let us know your favorites in the comments. Grey’s Anatomy, Midseason Premiere, Thursday, February 23, 9/8c, ABC The romance that started it all and became Grey Sloan’s main source of relationship drama for almost a decade. The pair first met at a bar and hooked up before realizing they were soon-to-be work colleagues. And things became even more complicated when it turned out Derek was married. Meredith and Finn, her dog’s vet, got together after her first break-up with Derek, after McDreamy tried to patch things up with his wife. They tried to make it work for a little while, even while Meredith was dating Finn and Derek at the same time. But, ultimately, she chose Derek. Will was Meredith’s first romance following Derek’s death. She tried to brush off his advances at first, but eventually, they began dating and even slept together. However, Meredith, still not over Derek, freaked out after waking up next to him and kicked him out of her house. Will said he would wait for her and continued to wait. Meredith and Nathan hooked up at the end of Season 12, which was meant to be just a one night stand. But the one night turned into two nights until they ended up dating. However, the relationship was doomed when Nathan’s presumed-dead fiancee Megan returned. Meredith’s romance with Andrew started with a drunken kiss that eventually turned into something more. By the end of Season 15, they were falling in love, and Andrew even took the fall for a crime Meredith committed. Unfortunately, they later broke up, though they remained close until Andrew was stabbed to death. The romance that never quite was, Cormac shared a lot of similarities with Meredith. Both were widowed, single parents, and both were doctors. There was certainly relationship potential there, but the pair never quite took the next step. Eventually, Cormac resigned from Grey Sloan and shockingly left the series. Meredith’s latest love interest, Nick first appeared in Season 14 as a patient, and there was chemistry between the two from the start. Nick returned in Season 18 and the sparks still flew between the pair. They started a long-distance relationship which later turned into a close-distance relationship, as in, very close, as Nick began working at Grey Sloan.

Did Meredith cheat on Derek season 11?
ELLEN POMPEO After last week’s tearjerker of an episode, we were treated to another tearjerker of an episode. It all begins with Ben and his brother, Curtis, throwing their dad’s ashes onto the forest floor. Although pouring out your late parent’s ashes doesn’t sound like an ideal activity, the two brothers are making the most of it, laughing away.
- It’s what he would have wanted, they say—before lovingly calling their dear old dad a pain in the ass.
- Aw, children can be so nice.
- Curtis interrupts all this merriment though to suggest he and Ben race to the top of the hill.
- He touches his chest before this, so we know something’s wrong—and we know that racing to the top of the hill sounds like a stupid idea.
And it is: Curtis ends up passing out and getting rushed to the hospital, where Meredith finds out his liver enzymes are “off the charts.” At first, it seems like he could be a closet alcoholic. It would make sense—his father died of colon cancer, so he was likely stressed during his father’s last days and could have turned to whiskey to soothe his pain.
But that’s not it. When Meredith isn’t helping out Curtis, she’s lying to everyone about her “trip to see Derek.” Remember how she spent all of last week’s episode trying to get someone to cover for her at work and babysit her kids so she could have sex with her long-distance husband? Well, she found someone to cover for her and to babysit her kids and then she didn’t get on the plane to D.C.
Maggie—who was taking care of the kids—thinks Meredith was cheating, but she wasn’t: She was hanging out alone in a cheap hotel room, drinking from the minibar and jumping on the bed in her underwear (a.k.a. living the life). Meredith’s embarrassed though, so she’s not telling anyone what really happened.
- And Maggie’s pissed.
- Derek called three times while Meredith was gone to ask where she was, and each time Maggie lied on her behalf.
- This makes her, a) a great sister and b) a great liar (one of her fibs was that Meredith got called in for an “emergency rectal abscess”—such detail!).
- But Maggie is also a great person, so she naturally hates lying.
And wants to know the truth. Meredith being Meredith though isn’t about to just spill her guts to Maggie, which sucks for Maggie. Like, she just told Meredith in the last episode that she is her only friend in Seattle. And now her only friend won’t tell her what’s going on in her life.
On that note, it’s probably time for Maggie to join a book club. Elsewhere in the hospital, Amelia and Callie are dealing with a patient who “fainted” and fell down a flight of stairs while her boyfriend—her needy, over-affectionate boyfriend—was proposing. She didn’t actually faint though: No, Hilary’s been pretending to faint to avoid listening to her boyfriend, and to, more recently, avoid replying to his marriage proposal.
Because that’s a mature and healthy way (did I mention she has to get brain surgery thanks to the fall?) to deal with uncomfortable situations. You’d expect Hilary would have some life-changing conversation or experience in the hospital that makes her toughen up and tell her boyfriend how she feels.
- You’d think she’d realize that, oh, yeah, pretending to faint instead of just dealing with life is a pretty inefficient way to live.
- But, nope.
- She makes it through surgery and awakens to her boyfriend declaring his love.
- So she “faints.” Again.
- Thankfully, this time she’s resting on a hospital bed so there’s no opportunity for injuries—but this is a perfect opportunity to tell the truth, as Callie (who is Team Boyfriend) tries to tell her.
Instead, Callie breaks up with him on Hilary’s behalf and gently kicks him out of the hospital room. Part of me thought Hilary wasn’t fake-fainting this time, that she was having some post-surgery reaction, but alas, she wakes up and thanks Callie. Callie deserves a lot more than a whispered “thank you” for that, but whatever, Hilary.
- While Callie’s doing a cowardly patient’s dirty work, Meredith discovers Curtis isn’t an alcoholic: He’s a transgender woman taking off-label hormone treatments that are destroying his health.
- Bailey finds out and ends up telling Ben, even though that’s totally Curtis’ call.
- Ben initially thinks it’s a joke—or more likely, is in denial—until he realizes Bailey isn’t lying.
So once Curtis is out of surgery, Ben talks to her himself. NEXT: Ben confronts his sister “This is who I am,” Curtis says. “I’ve known since I was 5.” Long story short, the talk doesn’t go so well. Ben, who’s told Curtis everything since they were kids, feels betrayed.
“Now, he’s got the biggest thing in his life, and he waited 25 years to tell me,” he tells Bailey. “I feel like it was all a lie. Our whole life, he lied to me.” Bailey, very wisely, reminds Ben this isn’t about him—it’s about Curtis. “I’m done with him,” Ben says, ending his conversation with Bailey. “Her,” she corrects him.
Plus one (or, you know, a thousand) for Bailey, especially for what she does next: She brings Jackson into Curtis’ room to talk about the next steps. What ensues is a beautiful moment between a supportive Jackson and a hurt, timid Curtis. Avery insists she stop taking the over-the-counter hormone treatments in favor of hospital-approved ones and recommends she start going to therapy.
Watching Ben reject his sister is infuriating, but Jackson and Bailey’s obvious desire to help her through this are powerful and chill-inspiring. By this point, Meredith’s feeling guilty about hurting Maggie and tells her the truth. And, of course, Maggie responds with a ton of empathy. This would be a great chance for the two to head to the bar, get drunk, and dance their way into best friendship, but instead, Meredith heads to Alex’s and tells him the truth, too.
But he gets a little more dirt than Maggie did: “If I had gone to D.C., we would have fought,” she tells Alex. “I don’t want to fight anymore. I don’t want to leave him, but I definitely do not want to be with him right now.” This doesn’t come off as much of a surprise—he made the decision to leave mid-fight, so we know things aren’t going so well for them.
Hunt and Amelia kissed, and it was amazing. Am I still (delusionally) Team Cristina and Hunt? Yes, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think he deserves some fun. Plus, Amelia was endearingly awkward when she brought over a fancy bottle of water to his trailer—and he was endearingly smooth when he stopped her from leaving, told her not to say anything, and then kissed her. Grey ‘ s has been pretty barren in the romance department lately, so this was a welcome moment.Callie had some fun of her own, too: She went to a bar and asked—well, told—a guy to dance. Get it, Callie.Richard and Mama Avery had a good time together, but that’s over now. And that’s a good thing: She points out that he thinks powerful women are attractive one moment and is hurt the next, and that’s totally true—plus, she hurt his feelings awhile ago and he’s lying to himself if he thinks he’s over it. The first thing Avery asks Curtis is what her new name is. It’s Roslyn. “That’s a beautiful name,” Avery replies. Bailey’s this episode’s MVP, but Avery comes in at second place for helping her save (or at least, try to save) Roslyn’s day.Herman decides to spend the rest of her days living in the hospital, and Arizona decides to spend a night with her. Not to have sex though, as Herman jokingly clarifies—she just found out that Arizona is a “dirty, dirty girl” (she says this while giggling) so she doesn’t want to lead her protégé on.
