Who are the new couple in Coronation

Answered By: Eric Cox Date: created: Feb 17 2024

There’s set to be a new hot couple in Coronation Street in the coming weeks, as the ITV series has cast two soap favourites. Stephanie Davis is swapping Hollyoaks for the cobbles as she has been cast as Courtney Vance, the glamorous wife of Darren, played by The Archers’ favourite, Ryan Early.

  • Darren is one of Dev Alahan’s (Jimmi Harkishin) business associates and will spend most of his time (quite literally) talking shop.
  • Courtney, meanwhile, is a total minx, who sets her sights on getting herself a toy-boy lover – and it’s Aadi (Adam Hussain) she has her eye on.
  • It isn’t long before the storyline spirals out of control and Aadi finds himself in a web of lies as Courtney does her best to make sure the pair can meet up behind her husband and his dad’s backs.

Will her plan work? Or will the new couple prove to be quite the bombshell? (We’re expecting the latter!) Adam Hussain as Aadi Alahan in Coronation Street. ITV Davis and Early will start filming in this week ahead of their first appearance in July. Speaking of her exciting new role, Davis commented: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Coronation Street, playing the part of Courtney Vance.

  1. Growing up I have always watched and loved the show, so to be part of the biggest TV soap in Britain, which is in the hearts and homes of so many people, is an honour.” By entering your details, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions and privacy policy,

  3. Early added: “I am so thrilled to be playing Darren Vance on Coronation Street and joining the most iconic soap.

I grew up watching the show with my grandmother so to walk on the cobbles is such an honour.” And executive producer Iain MacLeod said: “In Stephanie and Ryan, we have cast two fantastic actors as the catalyst for this fun, fiery storyline. Aadi will quickly find himself way out of his depth as he risks everything for Courtney.

Who is the new kid in Coronation Street?

Coronation Street fans will be saying ‘finally’ as one of the show’s youngsters is set to get a brand new storyline. However, they will have a completely new face. The ITV soap’s latest spoilers have revealed a new storyline for Ruby Dobbs, the daughter of Tyrone Dobbs and stepdaughter of his wife Fiz, which will see a new actress take on the role for the first time in 11 years.

  1. Ruby will be seen going head-to-head with sister Hope Stape as the local youngsters spend their summer attending Little Big Shotz classes at the community centre, thanks to Glenda Shuttleworth.
  2. Try MEN Premium for FREE by clicking here for no ads, fun puzzles and brilliant new features In the upcoming scenes, viewers will see Hope confidently practising her solo in front of Ruby and it will come as no surprise that she is fully expecting to land the lead role in the Little Big Shotz summer spectacular.

However, later on at the community centre, Glenda sparks chaos for the siblings as she announces that Ruby has landed the lead role. Glend’s decision means that Hope, Eliza and Ciara will act as Ruby’s backing singers. And while Ruby’s obviously thrilled, it goes without saying that Hope isn’t best pleased with the decision and the attention being on Ruby. Ruby will now be played by newcomer Billie Naylor (Image: ITV) And it isn’t uncommon for child stars to be replaced with new actors for a number of reasons, particularly schooling commitments. The first scenes with the new Ruby will air on Corrie next week, starting on Monday, August 7.

  1. But the new storyline will be a treat for fans who are often left wondering about poor Ruby’s role within the Dobbs family.
  2. Back in November, amid drama for Fiz and Tyrone as a book about her ex John Stape was set to be publish, Corrie fans couldn’t help but point out another character was nowhere to be seen.

@MeeshyJay tweeted: “Where is Ruby? Ty has obviously forgotten that he actually has a biological child #Corrie.” @HelenAPat commented: “Hope’s not the only one missing. Ruby’s been missing for weeks and no one’s noticed! #Corrie.” @Kathlee53178282 asked: “Where is Ruby you know Tyrone’s daughter? #corrie.” @SmalesRachel echoed: “Why do we never see Ruby? #Corrie.” Story Saved You can find this story in My Bookmarks.

Who killed Kylie Platt in Coronation Street?

Callum Logan’s murder – Tina O’Brien ( pictured ) plays Kylie’s sister-in-law Sarah Platt, Kylie murders Callum Logan (Sean Ward) in order to protect the character. Coronation Street aired a special live episode to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of ITV, In the episode Callum and Kylie’s sister-in-law Sarah Platt ( Tina O’Brien ) argue inside the Platt’s home.

  • Callum attacks Sarah, overpowers her and threatens her life.
  • Ylie walks in on the struggle and hits Callum over the head with a wrench.
  • Her actions left Callum bloody and dead on her kitchen floor.
  • The live episode concluded with David returning home to the fatal scene.
  • He decides to help Kylie and Sarah to conceal Callum’s murder.

He wraps the body up and puts him down a manhole in their garage. The following episode features the trio plotting to dispose of Callum’s body in a public space. An ongoing conversion of the garage in a bedroom extension poses a problem and they need to move quickly, but a series of events ruin their plans.

  1. Ylie and David are physically sick when they first try to remove the body from the manhole.
  2. They are later interrupted by a visit from the police who investigate Callum’s abandoned car.
  3. Gail then hires Jason Grimshaw ( Ryan Thomas ) to cover up the manhole with concrete, unaware Callum is concealed inside.

Lane assessed that her character “cracks” during the storyline and each character handles Callum’s murder differently. Sarah becomes hysterical, David stays calm and scheming, whereas Kylie remained in a state of shock and she had to “strip right back”.

The story played out with David attempting to help Sarah and Kylie move on. As Lane noted, the characters turn on each other and “it just becomes one big crazy fight for survival, it’s a mess.” They feel trapped within the secret and the situation get out of control. Writers continued to play on the tense situation, using Kylie and Callum’s old friend Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell).

The show planned a dramatic stunt which would lead to the discovery of Callum’s body. The scene featured Carla Connor ( Alison King ) causing a car accident, colliding with Tyrone Dobbs ‘ ( Alan Halsall ) pick-up truck which smashes into the Platt’s home.

  • This causes the floor to give way and a recovery team unearthing Callum’s body.
  • Producers decided to conclude the story without Kylie being held accountable for the murder.
  • Instead they used a character that had been recently killed off, Tony Stewart (Terence Maynard), who had publicly feuded with Callum.

When Sarah confesses the truth to Todd Grimshaw ( Bruno Langley ), he decides to frame Tony for the crime–a scheme which proved successful.

Why did Raquel leave Coronation Street?

Casting and development – Lancashire is the daughter of Geoffrey Lancashire, a scriptwriter who worked on 171 episodes of Coronation Street during the 1960s. She made her first Coronation Street appearance in 1987, shortly after graduating from drama school.

Lancashire had a walk-on role as Wendy Farmer, a nurse who enquired about lodging with established character Jack Duckworth ( William Tarmey ). The actress then spent a year performing in West End theatre, and worked as a drama lecturer in Salford before being cast as Raquel in 1991, initially on a three-month contract.

She continued to teach for a year, before committing to Coronation Street full-time. Thompson believes that it was Raquel’s role in the 1994 Tanya and Des love triangle storyline which “elevated to the pantheon of Street legend.” Lancashire recalls it as a well-constructed storyline with credible pacing, explaining that “because Raquel lives in this very idealistic world – she’s such a dreamer – when reality hits her, it hits very, very hard.

  • That really was the first opportunity we’d had to strip away a bit of the exterior of her character and see how fragile she was.” Lancashire remained in the series until 1996, and was paid £90,000 annually.
  • Two years into the role, she experienced a 14-month nervous breakdown, but did not confide in anyone beside her close family, or take any time off work, which in retrospect she deemed “the worst thing could have done.” Lancashire departed in 1996 due to her heavy work schedule and desire to pursue other projects.

She had grown tired of the fame the role brought her, shying away from personal appearances and interviews with television magazines, which made her feel “like an airhead”. Although at the beginning of her tenure she agreed to some interviews, she later refused all publicity for Coronation Street, threatening to leave if she was made to do it.

  1. Her departure was spread over three episodes, including an hour-long special.
  2. Her final scenes attracted 20 million viewers.
  3. Lancashire briefly reprised the role in 2000, with series producer Jane Macnaught deeming Raquel one of Coronation Street ‘s most popular ever characters and her return an opportunity for her “millions of fans” to learn what had happened to her in the intervening years.

Lancashire and Kennedy were the only cast members to appear in Raquel’s return episode, marking the first time the programme had featured just two characters. It remained the only two-hander episode of the soap for seven years, until a 2007 episode featured only mother and daughter Deirdre ( Anne Kirkbride ) and Tracy Barlow ( Kate Ford ).
