Why is my Sky Mobile signal so poor

Answered By: Carlos Baker Date: created: Nov 22 2023

Sky Mobile – Check your network coverage Your mobile phone signal may be affected by a number of factors, for example, weather and geographic conditions or the material of the walls or ceilings of the building you are in or how many people near you are trying to use mobile phones at the same time.

Do you ever own the phone with Sky Mobile?

Sky Mobile Swap’s trade-in system explained – Perhaps the best way to explain the Sky Mobile Swap is by looking at what it isn’t. And what it isn’t is Tesco Anytime Upgrade or O2 Refresh. When you upgrade with Tesco Mobile’s scheme, you’re obliged to pay up the full price of the phone (as determined at the time you bought it), minus the number of payments you’ve made on it.

So let’s suppose you wanted a new phone after 12 months and had been paying £36 per month towards the £600 cost of the phone, so had paid a total of £432. You’d owe your network the difference, which would be £168. But once you paid that, your old handset will be yours outright. Which may not be all that helpful, if you then have to go to the hassle of finding a buyer for your old device.

With Sky Mobile Swap the upgrade mechanism is very different. Principally because when you upgrade, Sky Mobile will take your old phone off your hands and use its value to offset the price you pay to upgrade, making your upgrade free of charges. Sound complicated? It’s not.

Let’s run you through an example. Let’s say you’re on Swap12 and at the 12-month point in your contract you’ve decided to upgrade from your old iPhone 7 to a glittering iPhone 8. You’ve paid 12 months at £36 per month towards the cost of the phone, making a total of £432. This means that you still have £168 left to pay on the phone if you choose to upgrade after 12 months.

Sky Mobile will take the phone off your hands and use it to pay the remaining balance so there is no fee to pay to upgrade. You also get free delivery to your door and there’s no upfront cost on the new phone.

Both Vodafone and Sky use BT’s Openreach network to provide their services. This means they should have comparable availability across the UK. To find out which packages you can get at your address, just enter your postcode in our availability checker below.

Why is Sky mobile 4G so slow

Answered By: Alexander Allen Date: created: May 29 2024

Sky uses O2 and in many areas that network is congested and over-subscribed. Data speeds can be terrible even if the signal is good. If you look at O2’s own forum, or other networks that use it like Virgin and GiffGaff, they are also full of slow data complaints.

Which booster do you have? – Sky Max Pod Sky Broadband Booster Sky Q Booster Sky Wireless Booster A Sky WiFi booster can extend your hub’s WiFi signal to cover those harder to reach areas in your home. It will improve your WiFi coverage but won’t improve the speed you get to your hub. To get the best signal from your booster and hub:

Keep them out in the open – not in a cabinet, on the floor or stuck behind the tv.30cm of space around it’s best. Keep away from other wireless devices like your cordless phone, baby monitors, etc.

What network is Sky linked to?

Sky Mobile review: Coverage, reliability and speed – Sky doesn’t operate its own network. Instead, like Tesco Mobile and Giffgaff, it operates as a virtual network running on Virgin Media O2. Virgin Media O2’s 4G network covers around 99% of the UK population, and it’s only in some more remote coastal and rural areas that you’ll struggle to get a signal.

O2 has been playing catch-up on connection speeds for the last few years, and RootMetrics’ latest round of speed tests still puts it firmly in the fourth and final place of the UK’s major networks. Where the third-placed network, Vodafone, has a median UK download speed of 23.8Mbits/sec, Virgin Media O2’s is 16.4Mbits/sec.

However, O2 fares better in Northern Ireland, particularly on calls and text performance, and its 5G reach and speeds have improved significantly since last year, with availability in 15 of the 16 cities where RootMetrics tests and speeds of over 100Mbits/sec in most of them.

  • That’s reflected in both our survey and our Mobile Network Awards : Sky had more satisfied or very satisfied 5G customers than any other network (57%) with the exception of EE (64%), so it comes away with a Highly Commended award in the 5G category.
  • All in all, you’re probably not going to get the fastest available connection from Sky Mobile, but there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with its reliability.91% of users said their Sky connection was mostly or always fast enough for web browsing, while 67% said the same about audio streaming.

Elsewhere, 49% of users told us it was mostly fast enough for video streaming and a further 12% said it was always fast enough. Only Smarty and Voxi had a stronger reliability report. Browse Sky Mobile phone contracts

Can I keep my Vodafone number on Sky mobile

Answered By: Jason Ward Date: created: Aug 26 2024

Why Switch to Sky Mobile ? – Switching to Sky Mobile is likely to save you money! Explore a world of possibilities with Sky Mobile, the only network that lets you roll over all your unused data, swap your phone each year and mix your plan whenever you like.

  1. Sky Mobile believe you data is yours to keep – at the end of every month, Sky Mobile will automatically roll over whatever is left into your Sky Mobile Piggybank for you to use whenever you like.
  2. You can roll back data from your Sky Mobile Piggybank 1GB at a time and you can also share your data with up to 5 SIMs on the same Sky Mobile account.

Not only that, but Sky Mobile allows you to cash in your unused data for a range of rewrads, which change monthly. The more Sky Mobile unused data you save, the better the rewards. Sky Mobile offers Swap. Your phone is yours to keep, however you can keep it or Swap it, the choice is yours.

  1. Whichever Swap plan you choose from Sky Mobile, you will be told when it is time to Swap your device for the latest model.
  2. If you decide to Swap, then just choose your new phone or tablet, answer some questions from Sky Mobile about the condition of your current device for an estimate on how much Sky Mobile will give you for it, and send back your old phone and Sky Mobile will deliver your brand new device! Sky Mobile offer teh latest phones and if you are a Sky TV customer, you will get free unlimited calls and texts as standard.

Sky Mobile also offer great value SIM-only plans. As mobile phone technology improves and becomes cheaper, and with increased competition among the mobile phone network operators, the result is cheaper mobile phone tariffs. If you want to move from your current mobile phone network to Sky Mobile you will be able to keep your mobile phone number – you will need a PAC Code.

How reliable is Sky?

Customer service – Sky does well with customer satisfaction. It’s been recognised by the likes of YouGov for its customer service and Ofcom reports also show it ranks as the best provider when it comes to handling complaints well when they arise. You can contact Sky customer service seven days a week either on live chat between 7am and 11pm or through its telephone contact centre, which is open between 8am and 9pm.

  1. Sky also helps with the more unpleasant side of switching – informing your old provider that you’re leaving.
  2. If you’re moving from BT, TalkTalk, Plusnet or any other provider that uses the Openreach network (which is most of them), Sky will manage the whole thing for you.
  3. Just tell them who your old provider is and it should all be sorted within two weeks.

The exception to this is if you’re moving from Virgin Media. Because Virgin runs its own network, you will have to make that cancellation call yourself. Most providers will charge you cancellation fees if you wish to leave whilst still in-contract, and these can be quite hefty depending on how much of your initial contract remains.

So, as an added incentive, if you do want to switch to Sky before your existing contract is up, and you’re facing costs as a result, Sky will help cover that. They’ll credit you up to £100 when you switch to a their broadband service, and up to £200 when switching to Sky a broadband and TV package. That’s unique, and we think more providers should do this.

Is Vodafone the best in the UK

Answered By: Gilbert Cook Date: created: Sep 27 2023

Vodafone made history as the first to connect a mobile call in the UK, and it remains a strong contender in the ever-changing market. Its robust networks provide widespread UK coverage. They cater to everyone, offering budget-friendly SIM-only and phone monthly contract plans, including options for tech enthusiasts who hunt for the latest gems.

However, Vodafone isn’t the most affordable option and lags behind its competitors in speed. Their reputation was largely shattered when Three’s improved 4G and 5G performance moved Vodafone to third place in the UK rankings. People split into two categories: loyal Vodafone users and anti-fans who either connect with a different provider or abandoned Vodafone for some reason.

Who knows, maybe Vodafone and Three merger with a bold plan of creating the fastest 5G network will succeed. But let’s not go too far and see things as they currently are. So, is Vodafone a good network in the UK for your business needs? Decide for yourself after reading the ultimate Vodafone review.

Pros Cons
Extensive 4G and 5G coverage in the UK Not as budget-friendly as some competitors
Offer both SIM-only and phone contracts Speed may not match competitors like EE
Provides options for budget-conscious users Recent performance drop in UK rankings
Range of plans for the latest smartphone lovers Potential merger uncertainty
