I was filming some First Dates scenes recently and I asked one girl, who was about 17, “Are you going to kiss them if you like them?” She said, “Oh no. Who do you think I am? I’m not that kind of girl.” But I was like, “Who’s judging you? I’m not!” Does this happen often on the show? It all comes down to all these preconceived ideas that we are brought up with. It was a very different show last year, as it wasn’t in Australia, and they had all the problems with the weather. I think there was a lot of drama in the beginning with the upstairs/downstairs set up they had, and it was really interesting. It was almost like a psychological drama.

The way I grew up, my dad was always shaved before going to work. And when I started catering college, everybody had to be clean-shaven. So, it’s taken me a long time to find the courage and the confidence to grow my beard. Now that I have it, I’m completely obsessed with my beard and grooming.
