Answered By: Martin Brooks Date: created: Oct 21 2023

1989–2001 – Marilyn arrives in Summer Bay from Sydney to see her boyfriend, Lance. When Lance hires a boat to impress her, he takes the wrong one and crashes it into Alf Stewart’s boat. Marilyn and Lance go missing, but Lance comes back okay and he tells his friends that Marilyn went back to the city.

  1. She comes back a few days later and tells Lance that she is going to stay and get a job.
  2. Lance thinks they are moving too fast and Marilyn tells him that she going on a date with his housemate, Martin Dibble (Craig Thompson) instead.
  3. Marilyn dumps Lance and moves into a hotel, but Lance wins her back when he gets her a job at The Diner.

However, Marilyn begins working for Morag instead. Lance introduces Marilyn to his mother, Colleen. When they start to get on too well, Lance becomes scared and breaks up with Marilyn. He then asks her to pretend she broke up with him, so Colleen does not come down hard on him.

  • Colleen then believes that Marilyn broke Lance’s heart.
  • Marilyn dates Adam Cameron ( Mat Stevenson ), before meeting and marrying Phil Bryant.
  • Phil’s teenage daughter, Toni, initially dislikes Marilyn as she is much younger than her father.
  • Marilyn leaves the Bay with Phil, but three years later she returns and reveals that she has separated from Phil.

She then opens and works in her own Hair and Beauty Salon. Marilyn becomes friends with Steven Matheson ( Adam Willits ) and they eventually begin a relationship. However, it does not last and they decide to just be friends. Marilyn decides to go back to school and she meets the Principal, Donald Fisher.

They begin a relationship, which shocks the locals as Donald is twice Marilyn’s age. They eventually get engaged and marry. Marilyn longs to have a child, but she has a miscarriage and is told that she is sterile. She decides to undergo surgery to conceive and she later becomes pregnant. After visiting Vinnie Patterson to get an astrology reading, Marilyn goes into labour two weeks early.

Vinnie finds her and drives Marilyn to the hospital. Complications develop with the birth and Marilyn is put under anaesthetic, so doctors can perform a cesarean. Marilyn delivers a baby boy, but she is upset that she was not awake for the birth and that Donald missed it.

  • To show her gratitude to Vinnie, Marilyn names the baby, Byron Vincent.
  • Marilyn struggles with post natal depression and she leaves Donald and Byron.
  • When she returns a few months later, she discovers that Donald has hired a nanny and becomes jealous of her.
  • She later recovers and grows to love her son.

Months later, Byron is diagnosed with liver cancer and Marilyn’s marriage starts to break up. She and Donald find out about a treatment for Byron in America and they leave the bay. During the trip, Byron dies, which leaves Marilyn heartbroken and she lets Donald go back to Australia alone.

  • In 2001, Donald goes to London for a book launch and thinks he sees Marilyn.
  • She later turns up at his book reading and when she runs from the room, Donald chases after her.
  • Marilyn apologises to him and gets on a train.
  • She calls him the next day and they meet up.
  • Marilyn tells him that she has become a childminder to get over Byron.

They talk and decide to end their marriage. Donald later learns that Marilyn has cancer and flies to London to support her.

Does Heather get found out on Home and Away

Answered By: Brian Robinson Date: created: Jun 15 2024

Home and Away Spoilers – Heather and Marilyn in rooftop showdown Coming up next week as Home and Away returns to UK screens, it’s a race against time to rescue the hostages, as Heather takes Marilyn up to the roof What does she have planned? When we left the sunny shores of Summer Bay six weeks ago, several of the town’s stalwarts were in a rather perilous situation. Having been summoned to a gathering by Marilyn’s (Emily Symons) long-lost daughter Heather Frazer (Sofia Nolan), Alf (Ray Meagher), Roo (Georgie Parker), Irene (Lynne McGranger) and Leah (Ada Nicodemou) soon found themselves drugged and tied up in the grand house’s dining room. Eventually brought down to join the others, Marilyn felt ashamed as she was forced to reveal Heather’s true identity to her closest friends, a secret she’d kept for the past 27 years. As we return to the action, whilst Marilyn’s friends are blindsided by the revelation, the more pressing matter is Alf, whose dicky ticker has had a reaction to the drugs that Heather used to knock them out. With Alf continuing to deteriorate, the group beg Heather to let them help him, but Heather is more interested in ensuring that Marilyn suffers—after all, she was the one who abandoned her to be brought up by a woman who never loved Heather as a mother should. Meanwhile, back in the bay, Justin (James Stewart) is becoming concerned for Leah, who hasn’t returned for work. He asks Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) and Rose (Kirsty Marillier) in passing whether there’s been any accidents that could hold up the roads, but they aren’t aware of anything.

  • Asked by Rose and Cash why Marilyn would be looking for Heather, he’s forced to reveal that she’s her daughter with everything suddenly making sense, the officers make some enquiries.
  • As Heather explains that she wants Marilyn to know what it feels like to lose everything, Roo tries a different tact, telling her that Marilyn’s closest friends will never look at her in the same way again.
  • With that in mind, she tells Heather that she’s got what she wanted, so how about she call an ambulance for Alf? Heather says it’s not good enough though, and as the stalemate continues, we’re left wondering just where else the situation can go

Back in Yabbie Creek, Rose learns that the police local to the Frazer family farm have been to the property and found a woman that they believe to be Heather’s stepmother. her body was in a chest freezer! It suddenly becomes apparent that Marilyn and the others could be in far more danger than anyone had anticipated!

  1. After Justin manages to remember some details from the invitation, Rose realises that the group must have all gone to Heather’s old school, Crestview Ladies College. Whilst they head off, it’s left to Justin to reveal to Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) that his girlfriend is a suspected murderer
  2. When Heather hears police cars approaching, she grabs Marilyn and drags her back upstairs, leaving Rose and Cash to find the rest of the group in the dining room.
  3. As Rose calls an ambulance for Alf, Cash heads out to track down Heather and Marilyn.
  4. As Heather forces Marilyn along an upstairs corridor, Marilyn catches sight of Cash out in the courtyard and desperately shouts out to him from an open window.
  5. Heather quickly silences Marilyn but it’s too late, and Cash sets off in hot pursuit.
  6. As is usually the case for the sake of drama (for similar reasons we won’t question why Marilyn doesn’t just shake Heather off and walk away), Heather seeks her escape by heading higher up into the house
  7. Unsurprisingly, Heather manages to find herself cornered on a small balcony off the attic room, with a sheer drop behind them.

As a terrified Marilyn stands next to Heather on the balcony, Cash attempts to talk Heather down but she’s having none of it—it’s too late for talk. Heather then attempts a cunning escape, by stepping up onto the parapet and shuffling over to a nearby open window, dragging Marilyn up with her.

  • But when part of the parapet crumbles away under her feet, Heather plummets down onto the roof below!
  • Meanwhile, paramedic Xander (Luke Van Os) arrives to take Alf away, and Rose checks on Leah and Irene, apologising that she didn’t see the signs with Heather sooner.
  • At the hospital, Roo is concerned as Bree (Juliet Godwin) checks over an exhausted Alf.

Justin is relieved when he’s finally reunited with Leah, who tells him the whole sorry tale. Irene feels terrible for ever doubting Marilyn, and Leah wonders if she could have done anything to stop it.

  1. As the pair check in with Roo to see how Alf is faring, all show their concern for Marilyn, who no-one has seen since Heather dragged her out of the dining room
  2. When an unresponsive Heather is then wheeled in, a shaken Marilyn is close behind.

Despite everything, Marilyn’s only concern is for Heather. But after seeing her fall from such a height, has Marilyn lost any chance of reconciling with her daughter? Home and Away returns to UK screens on Friday 30th December with a ‘First Look’ on 5STAR at 6pm, and on Monday 2nd January on Channel 5 at 1:35pm and 5STAR at 6pm.

Who is the father of Heather in Home and Away

Answered By: Adrian Green Date: created: Jan 20 2024

Coming up this week on Home and Away in Australia, as Heather frames Marilyn for abuse, is Maz’s secret daughter about to get her arrested? It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for Marilyn Chambers (Emily Symons), She suffered organophosphate poisoning last September, which left her with a new, abrasive personality and which has required her to take daily medication to keep her acting herself, but things have been relatively quiet since then. While she was friendly to Roo, and very friendly to Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) – with whom she struck up a friends-with-benefits situation – she immediately started doing her best to torment Marilyn. It began with uncomfortable glances and subtle comments, and culminated with Heather leaving an envelope outside Summer Bay House with Marilyn’s name on it – inside, a photo of a young baby, with the words “Guess who?” written on the back. Although Marilyn and Heather have yet to acknowledge to each other that they are mother and daughter, Maz eventually confessed the truth to Leah. When she was younger, she went on a trip around Australia with her boyfriend. They split and Marilyn began working as a housekeeper in a cattle station, where she went on to have an affair with her boss, a man called Tim, resulting in a baby. The couple insisted that they wanted to adopt Marilyn’s baby, that they could give her a better life. Marilyn, who didn’t have a job, anywhere to live or any money, thought she was doing the right thing, and that the baby would have a better life with her dad, in a safe, secure home. This week, things go from bad to worse for Marilyn, as Heather does everything she can to ruin the life of the woman she believes abandoned her as a baby. Maz doesn’t feel any relief now that she’s confessed her shock secret to Leah; instead, she’s terrified that everyone else will find out.

She’s kept the secret from her closest friends for decades; how will they react if they ever learn the truth? It’s not long until Heather makes her next move. Last week, Heather learnt that Marilyn had an adopted son, Jett (Will McDonald), a fact which seemed to hurt her all the more. Now, Jett has become part of her plan.

TV Week reports that, this week, John (Shane Withington) gets a call from his and Marilyn’s adopted son, and can’t believe it when Jett explains that he’s just received a text from Marilyn: “An adopted child can never compare to a biological one.” @homeandaway on Facebook It’s cruel and completely out of character, and both Jett and John are worried for Maz’s mental health. When John questions his ex-wife about it, Marilyn is adamant that she had nothing to do with it, and can’t believe anyone would believe she’s capable of such a thing.

Yet it’s not long before Roo (Georgie Parker), who has struggled to see Marilyn’s point of view in recent weeks as Heather and Maz have clashed, has more reason to doubt Marilyn’s mental state. She gets home to find a horrible online review of her new tutoring business, and she thinks Maz is to blame.

“Unfortunately because of the strange behaviour from Maz, she immediately feels it’s her trying to derail Roo’s tutoring job, which is confusing,” Georgie told Yahoo Lifestyle. “And because Maz can’t explain her feelings of distrust, Roo can’t find another conclusion to draw.” Marilyn reports the matter to the police, but it backfires when she discovers that she’s the prime suspect – she’s being framed for abuse! At the end of her tether and knowing that Heather is to blame for all that’s going on, she decides to go to the source. Heading to Heather’s van, Maz breaks in, and soon finds the birth certificate that proves what she suspected – Heather is her long-lost daughter! With confirmation, Marilyn is finally ready to face Heather. Confronting her at her caravan in Thursday’s triple-bill, Maz shows Heather the birth certificate, uttering the life-changing words: “I know you’re my daughter.” Heather’s frosty attitude doesn’t let up for a second, as she tells Marilyn, “now we can stop pretending!” With the truth out in the open, is there a chance for Heather and Marilyn to finally build a relationship?

What is the secret of Marilyn in Home and Away

Answered By: Devin Hernandez Date: created: Oct 11 2023

The mystery connection between Home and Away’s Marilyn Chambers and newcomer Heather has been uncovered, with the revelation that Marilyn gave birth to a secret child back in 1995. Recent episodes have seen rising tensions between Marilyn (Emily Symons) – one of Home and Away’s longest-serving characters – and new character Heather (Sofia Nolan). Heather quickly put down roots, moving into the caravan park and striking up a casual relationship with Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo), and immediately started doing her best to torment Marilyn. It began with uncomfortable glances and subtle comments, and culminated with Heather leaving an envelope outside Summer Bay House with Marilyn’s name on it – inside, a photo of a young baby, with the words “Guess who?” written on the back. An episode earlier this week explained that Heather was in fact Marilyn’s daughter. Heather took out a birth certificate which revealed that she was born in April 1995 to Marilyn Chambers, a housekeeper, and Timothy Frazer, a grazier. In tonight’s Australian episode, Leah (Ada Nicodemou) and Roo, who had staged an intervention after a series of tense confrontations between Marilyn, Heather and Nikau, came close to convincing Marilyn that her worries were all in her head. In the night, Heather broke into Summer Bay House, where Marilyn was asleep on the sofa. Sneaking silently into the kitchen, she opened a bottle of wine, emptied it and placed it on the coffee table in front of Maz, with a half-filled glass next to it. She also placed the baby photograph in Marilyn’s arms. Exactly as Heather planned, Marilyn was discovered that way by Roo the next morning, with her closest friend now thinking that she’d turned to alcohol to help with her issues. In the diner later on, Heather asked Marilyn, “how are you feeling this morning? You have a nice sleep?” making it abundantly clear to Maz that it was she who had set up the incriminating scenario. Knowing she couldn’t hide the secret anymore, Marilyn finally opened up to Leah (Ada Nicodemou). She confessed a secret that she’s kept hidden for the past 27 years – that, when she was younger, she’d had an affair with her boss, a man called Tim, resulting in a baby. “A long time ago, when I was very young, I went on a trip around the country with my boyfriend, and it didn’t work out, and we broke up. “I got a job as a housekeeper on a cattle station in the middle of nowhere, and it wasn’t very easy for me at the time, and I was very isolated. She confessed that she’d never said it out loud before, “not to John, not to anyone.” When she told Tim that she wanted to keep the baby, he told his wife. The couple stayed together and even let Marilyn stay with them until after the birth. Everything seemed fine, but, soon after the birth, everything changed. Now, 27 years later, her daughter has grown up and has come looking for her. Leah tried to get Marilyn to open up to Alf or Roo, her two oldest friends, but Maz was worried about what they would think. “I’ve known them for most of my adult life and I’ve never said a word. Marilyn and Lance / Marilyn departs with Phil and Toni in 1992 She and Phil were soon engaged, and they left Summer Bay that year alongside Phil’s daughter Toni (Kathryn Dufty). They returned to Phil’s large cattle ranch, a property he ran with his brother, and the pair were married off-screen in September 1992. Emily Symons as Marilyn during her second stint on Home and Away. Now, this latest revelation rewrites Marilyn’s history, suggesting that she and Phil must have split up sometime back in 1994, with Marilyn embarking on a new relationship with a boyfriend that she went travelling with.

After they split, she began working on a cattle station, formed a close bond with her boss, and the pair had an affair which resulted in a baby—with Marilyn returning to Summer Bay only 5 weeks after the baby’s birth. Also in the same episode, Heather also learnt that Marilyn has an adopted son, Jett (Will McDonald), a fact which seemed to hurt her.

When the pair finally talk, how will Heather react to the fact that her mother, who she believes abandoned her, went on to adopt a child of her own? Next week’s episodes suggest that the drama is far from over, and that Marilyn and Heather still have some way to go before they form a relationship. Tuesday’s episode will see Marilyn get framed for abuse, and on Wednesday, Roo is set to accuse Marilyn of online bullying.

What happened to Roo in Home and Away 2023

Answered By: Joshua Allen Date: created: Mar 31 2024

Home and Away Spoilers – Roo says goodbye to Summer Bay

  • Next week on Home and Away in the UK, in the aftermath of the explosion, Roo’s deteriorating condition sees her leave Summer Bay, while John faces a terrifying experience.
  • Two much-loved residents are fighting for their lives next week after Stunning Organics’ campaign of terror against Marilyn (Emily Symons) reached a shocking climax.
  • After weeks of threats towards Marilyn, who was speaking out publicly against the company, a man presumed to be the mysteriously awol CEO sent Marilyn one final package through the mail: a bomb.

, it was John (Shane Withington) and Roo (Georgie Parker) who ended up in the firing line as the device was activated with a one hour countdown. With the box packed into the back of a rental van as John and Roo made a trip to the local tip, it was down to Mali (Kyle Shilling) to chase them down after Marilyn received a final message taunting her about the box’s contents. After successfully getting John and Roo to pull over, Mali ran towards the van yelling at them to get out, shortly before the van exploded in a huge fireball, sending Mali flying. As we return to the immediate aftermath next week, Mali is out cold on the road as the inferno rages. Eventually coming to with a loud ringing in his ears, Mali quickly goes to check on John and Roo. Thankfully both managed to escape the van just in time, but were caught up in the blast. Roo lies on her back on the grass nearby, clearly in excruciating pain and afraid to move a muscle.

  1. The blaze has been put out by the time Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) and Rose (Kirsty Marillier) appear on the scene, shocked at the carnage in front of them.
  2. John is being treated by paramedic Carla (Jennifer Rani) for a pain in his abdomen, but he’s more concerned that they look after Roo who is already being loaded into an ambulance.
  3. After Rose and Cash check on them both, Mali tells Rose about the bomb, and Cash immediately locks the site down as a crime scene.
  4. The scene is handed over to forensics officer Frances (Ebony Nave) who soon finds what looks to be a detonator.
  5. Frances explains to Cash that the device was clearly homemade, and whoever created it wanted to cause maximum damage
  6. With all three victims taken to Northern Districts Hospital, Mali, who has been suffering from dizzy spells since the blast, learns that he has a perforated eardrum.
  7. Whilst it’s nothing too serious, Bree (Juliet Godwin) explains that Mali will have to stay out of the water for several weeks which won’t be easy for Summer Bay’s resident surf instructor!

Roo’s diagnosis isn’t as simple however, having caught the full force of the blast. Brought into the ED, Roo panics when she suddenly realises she can no longer feel her legs. A CT scan reveals that she has a small disc fracture in her neck, which will require specialist surgery to repair.

  • Marilyn and Irene (Lynne McGranger) arrive at the hospital and are relieved to see John, Marilyn wracked with guilt as she states that it should have been her.

Struggling with her guilt, Marilyn is doing her best to support Roo when she suddenly begins to deteriorate. As Roo starts shaking and asking for her dad, Nurse Jamie (Jazz Laker) rushes to assist as the machines go haywire. When Bree reponds to the emergency call, she finds that Roo’s blood pressure is dropping, and she has become bradycardia.

Roo’s clearly going into shock and her heart is struggling to pump blood around her body. Roo soon slips into unconsciousness before going into cardiac arrest! Bree is eventually able to stabilise Roo but she remains unconscious, with Bree explaining to a distraught Marilyn that Roo has a ventilator breathing for her.

She needs to urgently be airlifted to the city for surgery, and when Marilyn later bids her friend a tearful farewell, she vows to get justice.

  1. The episode marks a temporary departure for Georgie Parker, who took a two-month break from filming earlier this year to appear in a Sydney theatre production.
  2. Meanwhile, having undergone surgery for abdominal internal bleeding, John appears to be out of the woods with no permanent damage.

Later in the week, Irene is paying John a visit in hospital when he complains of feeling dizzy. Irene is sure that it’s probably normal after surgery, but Bree is called just to be on the safe side. As John thanks Irene for staying with him, he suddenly clutches his chest in agony as he collapses back onto the bed.

  • Bree warns John that the drug is very intense, and it will feel like his heart is stopping, but at that moment John is happy to take any treatment going.
  • Irene holds John’s hand as Bree administers the drug, and its effects immediately become apparent as John cries out in terror.

Although not named in the episode, the drug is likely to be Adenosine, which blocks the AV node causing the heart to stop momentarily. Bree isn’t exaggerating when she says the experience is intense, with the most notable side effect amongst patients being a feeling of impending doom, or the sensation of death arriving.

  1. As the seconds tick by, a traumatised Irene cries out John’s name, and there’s a flicker of trepidation that falls across Bree’s face.

Why has Home and Away finished

Answered By: Eric Brown Date: created: Nov 13 2023

No, Home and Away has not been cancelled, fans will be relieved to know. Channel 5 cut funding to Neighbours earlier this year with the intention to use that money to create original UK shows instead. Producers of the soap failed to secure new funding and so Neighbours will cease making new episodes.
