Who is Mr Blobby from BGT
Trivia –
Many fans initially speculated, that the person playing Mr. Blobby, was either former judge David Walliams or Britain’s Got More Talent host, Stephen Mulhern, speculating either one had dressed as the titular character, to prank the judges. However only the actors, Barry Killerby & Paul Denson are allowed to play Blobby, with Denson having portrayed him from 2016 onwards and Killerby as his original actor. Therefore, Mulhern or Walliams could not have been able to do this. Due to Blobby’s origins, he is BGT’s third ever fictional contestant. The first were the Teletubbies and the second was Noodle, Despite having been cut in the deliberations, Blobby appeared as a part of a skit wherein he tried to usurp Simon Cowell ‘s position as a judge before being lead away by security and later being seen in the audience. Ironically, this skit took place during the same Semi-Final as animated cat Noodle performed.

Origins – Mr Blobby first appeared in 1992 in the ‘Gotcha’ segment of the second series of Noel’s House Party, in which celebrities were caught out in a Candid Camera style prank. Mr Blobby was presented to the celebrities as if he were a real and established children’s television character, in order to record a feature about the guests’ professions – in reality, the setup was completely fictitious, and the character of Mr Blobby portrayed by Noel Edmonds focused on acting childishly and unprofessionally, to irritate the celebrities taking part.
- After the conclusion of the second series, the character was made a regular feature of the programme, with the production team taking turns to don the costume created by artist Joshua Snow.
- Through Noel’s House Party, Mr Blobby was seen in short comedy sketches, ‘guest-appearing’ on other TV programmes.
Examples include Lovejoy, where he unintentionally broke antique furniture, and Keeping Up Appearances, where he was seen paying an impromptu visit to Hyacinth and Richard Bucket, disrupting their kitchen. Mr Blobby was later dropped from Noel’s House Party for its final series, but was later brought back for the programme’s final episode.

What happened to Mr Blobby on BGT
Britain’s Got Talent fans think they’ve worked out the identity of Mr Blobby whose act left Simon Cowell absolutely fuming. The famous character was originally featured on Noel Edmonds’ Saturday night show, Noel’s House Party, back in the 90s and became a British TV icon. Britain’s Got Talent fans think they’ve worked out the identity of Mr Blobby. Credit: ITV The clumsy pink creature started the act by handing out giant playing cards to the panel. While the judges seemed to be enjoying his act so far, they had no idea what was to come.
- When he accidentally buzzes himself when trying to perform a hat trick, Mr Blobby then picks Cowell to come on stage for a ‘special magic trick’.
- After some hesitation, the 63-year-old joins Mr Blobby on stage and is put inside a box, as Blobby tries to make him disappear.
- But, moments later, Cowell was covered in pink neon slime and the audience were loving it.
While the former X-Factor judge was left absolutely raging, viewers at home were left wondering who the person in the costume might be. And one celebrity in particular was on everyone’s mind. Last night, Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli were back in action on BGT as the iconic Mr Blobby character took to the stage. Credit: ITV “Mr Blobby was definitely David Walliams #BGT2023 #BritainsGotTalent,” one fan guessed. While a second added: “Mr Blobby David Walliams in disguise? #bgt #bgt2023 #BritainsGotTalent.” A third agreed: “I bet mr blobby on @BGT is @davidwalliams#BGT #BritainsGotTalent.” “‘Now take your Mr Blobby head off and reveal yourself David Walliams’ #BGT” a fourth said.
“That’s so @davidwalliams in the Blobby costume. #BGT,” another added. However, sadly Mr Blobby did not progress into the next round and didn’t get a single ‘yes’. We thought it was ‘gold buzzer’ worthy at least. Last month, Cowell opened up out about the circumstances which saw Walliams exit his role as a judge on BGT,
It was announced late last year that the actor and comedian would be stepping down after a decade on the show, with the show saying at the time that his return was ‘up in the air’. Cowell was covered in pink neon slime and the audience were loving it. Credit: ITV Speaking to The Sun, Cowell said that Walliams had largely been ‘very respectful and emotional’ about the talent show contestants, and while it was ‘upsetting’ to hear what had been said, he was sure it wasn’t a constant occurrence.
“I didn’t really get involved in the decision. From what I understand, he decided to take a step back.” he said. “It all happened relatively quickly. I was on holiday and then the next thing is I’m having conversations about who’s going to take his place. “We did say to the two producers: ‘You have to make the final decision’ because, yeah, I am an exec producer, but they’re more hands on.
“Obviously everyone had some input – the network, the producers Fremantle, all of us said at the time, these comments are completely unacceptable. I had not heard them before and, yeah, it was upsetting. But from where I’m sitting, this wasn’t something I believe was constant.”

You won’t believe how much this original Mr Blobby suit is up for sale on eBay Virgin Radio 20 Jan 2023, 16:30 Fancy owning a piece of retro TV gold? The iconic Mr Blobby outfit from the 90s is up for sale and Noel Edmonds’ old side-kick is being sold for a Blob or two. Starring in Noel’s House Party throughout the 1990s, the legendary comedy character has turned up on the auction site for a dotty amount, currently sat at £8,200, with 76 bids and five days left to go. “This was made by the BBC’s costume supplier for an overseas version of Noel’s House Party. Unfortunately before it could be delivered the overseas show was cancelled and neither the broadcaster or the BBC’s production team wanted it – so it sat in my office until a move meant it came home with me some years ago.
“This means it is less suitable to be worn as the unit is not very supple as it was in 1996. “In addition the two arms require re-attaching to the body, one of the plastic eyes is cracked and the bow tie will need securing. “Overall it’s not too bad for its age – but there is visible creasing and dust to the covering and some areas require a drop of glue to make good.
“This is an iconic television character from one of the most popular TV shows of the 1990s. He’s been with me all this time – but now a house move means I need to find him a new home.” The owner explained: “Mr Blobby is trademarked and therefore subject to copyright. This costume/prop can only be for personal home display use. “There can be no unauthorised use – including, but not limited to, hiring out, lending, public exhibition or any performances. The buyer will be required to sign their agreement of this.” Read here about Netflix releasing, : You won’t believe how much this original Mr Blobby suit is up for sale on eBay

Winner of Mr Blobby eBay auction backs out of £62,000 bid The winner of an online auction to buy an original Mr Blobby costume has backed out just an hour after bidding £62,000 for the sought-after item. Although the outfit was originally listed on for £39, the price increased once it began attracting attention online.
The costume was created for an international version of Noel’s House Party, the TV show on which Mr Blobby became a household name in the 1990s.However, when the new version did not go ahead, the seller kept the recognisable pink outfit as it turned out nobody from the production team wanted to keep it for themselves. It was only decades later when the former employee needed to make space for a house move that the item was listed for sale online.Despite it being in need of some repair, including the reattachment of both arms, the famous outfit managed to attract 178 bids by the end of the auction.”Ironically, it was being sold not to make money but to make space,” said the seller.Although winning an eBay auction is a commitment to buy an item, the online auction website has no power to enforce sales by law.
