Who goes out in Strictly Week 8?
After eight weeks of entertaining the nation (six of which were spent at the bottom of the leaderboard), Tony Adams exited the ballroom – and added one more twist to this dramatic series. The combined judges’ scores and public vote put him into the dance-off with Tyler West, but before either could reprise their numbers, Adams decided to withdraw from Strictly on health grounds.
As presenter Tess Daly announced, in what would usually be the dance-off segment of the show: “Due to an injury sustained on Saturday night, Tony is unable to take part in the dance-off and has decided to withdraw from the competition. This means there will be no dance-off tonight and Tyler and Dianne are through to Blackpool.” This was a double whammy for me.
I really thought Adams would last longer – at least until Blackpool, possibly beyond – given the strength of his public support. And I never imagined that injury would get in his way; fortunately (touch wood) we haven’t had as many medical issues as in previous years of Strictly, despite some ambitious routines with risky lifts.

It was a hard-fought contest by the last remaining celebrities in Strictly Come Dancing to secure one of just four places in the final, Each contestant had to learn and perform two new dances for the first time this series. And in a dance-off that divided the judges, Will Mellor lost out and his Strictly journey came to an end becoming the 11th celebrity to leave the BBC One show.
