Is Ralf Little leaving Death in Paradise? – No, Ralf Little is not leaving Death in Paradise in 2023 – with the actor confirmed to appear in this year’s Death in Paradise Christmas special and season 13 and 14 of the hit BBC show. Fans were worried a departure was imminent after Little’s character DI Neville Parker was wrongly arrested in the season 12 finale.
- Despite his name being cleared the detective was delivered another blow when it turned out his love interest Sophie Chambers (Chelsea Edge) was actually the killer.
- I think maybe it’s time to call it a day,” Neville said, contemplating his future on Saint-Marie.
- But alas the detective opted to stay in the sun for a bit longer – meaning Little will remain for season 13 of Death in Paradise and the confirmed 2023 Christmas special.

We’ve got huge plans for the future and can’t wait to get going again”. We’ve yet to hear what Ralf Little has to say about season 13 and beyond. The last time the actor discussed his future on Death in Paradise was in April 2021. Little told HELLO! Magazine : “I don’t have an end date in mind.

I just absolutely love it so I’m not in any hurry to finish. So who knows, I’ve got no plans either way. I’m certainly possibly the most well suited to it of all the detectives so far because I don’t have the same family commitments,” he concluded.
Appearing in season 13 and 14, let’s hope this is a sign that Little’s enthusiasm remains. But for now fans can rest assured that there’s plenty more of Neville to come. Danny John-Jules’ Death in Paradise exit, return and unexpected smear on show Death in Paradise star Danny John-Jules played Officer Dwayne Myers for seven years, then mysteriously disappeared from the show before a surprise comeback last Christmas Death in Paradise: Series 3 Trailer – BBC One

- Thankfully Dwayne was not killed off, leaving the door open for Danny to return to Death n Paradise.
- When series 10 returned to screens last year, fans were curious to see why Dwayne wasn’t even coming back for even a cameo.
- When one viewer on claimed Dwayne was missed, Danny replied: “They haven’t missed me since S7.”
- Another claimed they went back through old episodes to find out what happened to Dwayne, to which Danny commented: “And I thought Dwayne was #Baffled.”
This classic scene had everyone in stitches ( BBC/Red Planet) In reply to another fan, the Red Dwarf actor explained where his character could be now. He wrote: “Dwayne Myers has been sent to Washington to teach the Police how to man a barrier outside a Government Building,” But he suggested to another fan how the character could return to the show – alongside another former star.
- While Danny confirmed he was not returning for the 10th series, sparked speculation of a possible spin-off series with his character.
- “I have an idea, but I just need to meet up with the producer, Tony Jordan, to touch base and run it past him,” he teased.
- But there was a twist as Danny did return this year for the first ever Christmas special.
Danny had been a mainstay on the show ( TV Grab) Speaking about his return, Danny said: “It’s always a pleasure going back to the Caribbean. And after four years away, fitting back into the fold should be seamless as I know all the new leading cast members already.

- Since then, he has appeared in his own one man show, I’ve Gotta Be Me, about the life of Sammy Davis Jr – and this year he will play Sir Leigh Teabing in a stage version of The Da Vinci Code.
- Danny confessed e felt some fatigue after answering “the same questions” about his character for years, which made him feel like his storyline had “gone nowhere”.
When asked about making his big return, the actor said: “I was away for four years and, as you can see, nothing happened in four years. So they called me back.” He continued: “When I left for four years, I’ll tell you what, I wasn’t in the show for four weeks, four years ago.
- I was in the show for seven years and, you know what? I did the same interview for seven years.
- I had the same questions from 100 journalists, so I thought, ‘Okay, it’s time to go’.” Do you have a story to share? Email [email protected] You can find this story in Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.

Is Death in Paradise ending 2023?
Yes, Death in Paradise is still being made. So expect Death in Paradise season 13 in 2024!
Does Neville stay on Death in Paradise?
Their first meeting involved Neville accidentally bashing into her with his suitcase. Following that, he also mistakenly took her luggage home with him and almost crashed into her taxi. As far as introductions go, it was a complete disaster. But when Sophie arrived at the police station to swap their cases, an initial spark began to form between the pair and a short time later, they began a holiday romance, leaving viewers convinced that Neville would follow her back to the UK in due course.
Sophie’s holiday came to an end but when her boss gave her the greenlight to work remotely, she headed back to the island to pick up where they left off. But Neville’s hopes of a relationship with Sophie were dashed. Her name wasn’t Sophie, but Rebecca, and she had travelled to the Caribbean to ruin his life.
When Neville was based in Manchester, he had worked on an investigation into the murder of drug dealer Darren Biggs. It was Sophie’s sister Grace who had killed him, acting in self defence. The former was a courier for Biggs but on that fateful day, she was too ill to carry out her deliveries, with Grace taking her place and paying the price.
Why Death in Paradise’s big twist is not as depressing as you think Death in Paradise boss on future: “I don’t know about another renewal”
She could have cleared Grace’s name, but she didn’t have the courage to speak up. A year into her sentence, Grace took her own life. Sophie latched on tight to that anger when she murdered criminologist David Cartwright and pinned it on Neville. The detective was arrested, with fans convinced that would be the reason for Ralf Little’s exit from the show.
- Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com about the reveal, Little said: “First of all, I was really impressed with the ambition of the storyline.
- After the 10-year mark, shows can rest on their laurels a bit or even run out of ideas.
- And actually, I think this series just keeps getting better and better and more and more ambitious.
“So my first thought was, ‘What an amazing set of bold choices for the creative team to make.’ I was delighted.” Death in Paradise cast. Red Planet Pictures/Denis Guyenon BBC / Red Planet Pictures / Denis Guyenon Eventually, the truth about Sophie came to light and she’ll now spend the rest of her days behind bars. But despite his name being cleared, it was far from a happy ending for Neville.
- His love life was once again in the gutter and he began to doubt if he was capable of continuing his work as a detective.
- I think maybe it’s time to call it a day,” he said, weighing up his future on the island.
- He’s really, really beating himself up and he’s really in a bad place and frankly, he’s not even sure anymore if he’s up to the job,” Little told RadioTimes.com,
“And that has ramifications for whether or not he is worthwhile to the team anymore.” His colleagues and friends, who were concerned for his mental well-being, did their best to boost his spirits but ultimately, the decision rested with him. Would he stay? Or would he go? In the finale, Neville opted to remain, news which was greeted with open arms by his companions.
For now, the detective is wedded to life in the Caribbean. But there’s every chance he’ll change his mind in season 13. Things are certainly looking a little brighter but if Death in Paradise has taught us anything, it’s that any situation can shift in a heartbeat. Season 11 began with an extra-long Christmas special that saw the return of Danny John-Jules as Dwayne Myers, but it didn’t give us the answers so many of us wanted. We won’t reveal too many details, but it was another cliffhanger (albeit slightly less dramatic this time). With the return of the “regular” season, the format gets back to normal and Florence and Neville and the rest of the team are back together – and the story of their possible romance and Florence’s career future continues.

While quite a few British TV mysteries are based on books, Death in Paradise is one of the rare exceptions where the books are actually based on the television series. Though some shows basically re-word episodes (like the books for The Good Life/Good Neighbors or Rosemary & Thyme ) in the companion books, the Death in Paradise books offer entirely new mysteries. The Death in Paradise novels are written by Robert Thorogood, creator of Death in Paradise, You can view them all below – and fair warning, the availability by format is a bit all over the place:

We’re just hoping Mr. Thorogood sticks with DI Richard Poole. I’ve wondered whether that was the portrayal closest to what he imagined for the series, and perhaps that’s why he went back to that particular inspector for the books. Even though we don’t always enjoy all the inspectors equally, Death in Paradise is still a fun mystery with good scenery and fun storylines.
