‘The rest of you, congratulations, you have made your way to the final.’ Goodbye: Love Island couple Mitchel Taylor and Ella Barnes became the final pair to be dumped during Sunday’s episode of the show ahead of Monday’s series final Competition: Mitchel and Ella B went head-to-head in the public vote against Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki (pictured) During their dates earlier this week, Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde, Jess Harding and Sammy Root, Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble, and Whitney and Lochan all chose Ella B and Mitchel as the least compatible pair.
Only Mitch and Ella B voted for Whitney and Lochan, meaning they went up against them in the public vote. After Maya delivered the news of Mitchel and Ella B’s departure, the rest of the group looked solemn as they hugged them both. Ella B said: ‘To be honest, it was expected. I feel like out of all the couples we haven’t had the longest of times.’ Mitchel added: ‘Could have read the room, I could see this coming from a mile away.
Everyone’s in love, in relationships and we’ve been good for two weeks.’ Mitchel later took the other boys up on to the terrace to deliver a heartfelt speech to them, saying: ‘I’ve been here for eight weeks now, it’s been the best weeks of my life.’ He continued: ‘Lochan you make me cheese toasties.
You’re a great guy,’ before adding: ‘Ty you’ve got good banter, one of the last originals of as well. ‘Sammy I love you to bits. I hated you to bits. I just did bro, you’re too much of a threat. Tense moment: Love Island host Maya Jama, 28, entered the villa to announce the results of the public vote Last ones standing: The last remaining Islanders were gathered around the fire pit by Maya before she announced the news ‘Zach, my best friend, who would have thought, four days you, you stole my bird, now we’re best friends.
‘I could not have asked for a better bunch of lads.’ After leaving the villa, Mitchel said: ‘It feels good. I feel like I was on borrowed time, but I loved every minute of it and I’m ready to get back to the real world.’ On whether he ever saw a romantic connection with his original show partner Molly, Mitchel continued: ‘I think the first three or four days were very strong and then Molly wanted to get to know Zach so I took a step back and tried to leave it as that.
It’s difficult to do that though when you’re sharing the same room as the people though.’ However, he insisted he felt a connection with Ella B as soon as she entered the villa as a bombshell and they went on their first date. He explained: ‘I think from the first date we had, I thought there was a connection and it wasn’t until I got back and the way that Abi acted pushed me away.
That opened the door for me and Ella B. When we had more conversations together I realised we had a connection.’ Despite some rocky moments for the pair during their time in the villa, Mitchel is looking forward to testing their relationship on the outside.
He said: ‘Things were going really well and I thought there should be a bump in the road from past experiences with exes. I questioned it, and normally I would have talked to my friends at home, but when you talk to the people in the Villa it gets round very fast and of course turned into a big argument.

The real test is on the outside which is what I am looking forward to.’ On who he thought could go on and win the show, Mitchel said: ‘Sammy and Jess. I definitely think it has the potential to last. I’m a people watcher, and whenever I see them I think they are perfect.’ Meanwhile, on Ella B said of her villa exit: ‘It’s a bittersweet moment for me.
My time was pretty short but I feel like I definitely made the most of it. I went on my first date with Mitch and I’m leaving with him so I’m really happy.’ Ella B set the cat amongst the pigeons when she first entered the villa when it emerged she already had history with Tyrique, who was coupled-up with Ella Thomas.
On if she planned to explore things with Tyrique when she first entered, Ella B said: ‘I know Tyrique as we had a bit of history but before entering the Villa I knew he was pretty closed off with Ella. ‘I saw how he reacted when she brought Ouzy back. I was going into the Villa open-minded – I wanted to see where his head was at but I wasn’t putting all my eggs in one basket with him.
‘I didn’t know how he was going to react to be honest and that’s why I took Mitch on a date. I really fancied Mitch and I knew we’d get on.’ On her connection with Mitchel, she continued: ‘From the moment we had that first date, we were bouncing off each other and I knew we had an instant connection.
- When I came back into the Villa and we had two or three more in-depth chats, I knew from the get go it was him.
- ‘He’s got such high energy and honestly makes me belly laugh.
- I’m quite laid back and he’s like the class clown – he brings out the funny side in me.
- He talks about his family a lot and family is a massive thing for me.
Obviously he goes to gym and has got a good body – he’s really motivated so we definitely align.’ Champs? Both Mitchel and Ella B said Jess Harding and Sammy Root (pictured) could be crowned winners of the show on Monday On where she sees thing heading with Mitchel now, she said: ‘I feel like especially after our final date and becoming exclusive, we’ve become really strong.
- Mitch wants to move to London which is ideal for me so he’s going to be close to me.
- In terms of the outside world, I don’t think there’s going to be anything that we can’t conquer.’ Meanwhile, she predicted Jess and Sammy could also be crowned winners of the show, the same choice as Mitch.
- She said: ‘Jess and Sammy.
I feel like they’ve had every test in that Villa. Seeing them in the Villa and out of all the couples, they are the same person. I’m definitely rooting for them and I think they’ve got the strongest connection.’ Love Island: The Live Final airs tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
