Who finished 2nd on masked singer?

The woman inside the Medusa costume — Bishop Briggs — is named the winner. – (Michael Becker | Fox) The Macaw performs on “The Masked Singer.” Fifteen years after he finished second on “American Idol,” David Archuleta is once again the runner-up in a nationally televised TV singing competition.

Turns out that all the speculation about Archuleta being in the Macaw costume on Fox’s “The Masked Singer” was correct. But while that was expected, it was a bit of a surprise when — once again — he didn’t win. The trophy went to Bishop Briggs, who performed inside the Medusa costume, in the season finale on Wednesday night.

(Michael Becker | Fox) Host Nick Canon and runner-up David Archuleta in the season finale of “The Masked Singer.” Any doubt that Archuleta was inside the Macaw costume evaporated in the opening minutes of the episode when — through a digitally disguised voice — he said, “Becoming the Macaw is exciting because it’s like I’m becoming a new person.

  • Even though people can’t see me in this, in a way, it lets me show a lot more of myself.
  • I can show the colors I was too afraid to show, and I’m able to tap deeper emotionally in my performances.” (Perhaps a reference to his coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021?) “I had a lot of anxiety coming here because I wasn’t sure I could handle an environment of being judged again, especially with millions watching on TV.

But being the Macaw makes it a lot more fun, and if I win, it means I actually can win something,” he said with a laugh. (A clear reference to finishing second on “American Idol” in 2008.) Archuleta didn’t say that he grew up a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and that he served a mission, but after revealing himself, he told viewers he “grew up very religious” and that he “believed that if I lived,

being queer, I was going to be evil. So I worked really hard to be anything but that. It got to the point where I thought maybe it’s better if I’m not here,” he said, his voice breaking. He went on to say that he “realized I can’t change this,” and he encouraged any other members of the LGBTQ+ community who grew up “feeling like they were bad just because of who they were attracted to, who they loved, I want you to know that it is worth taking the courage to show your true colors.

It’s scary, but you’re worth it. You matter.” Before his unmasking, Archuleta performed “Hold Back the River” and “All by Myself” to rave reviews from the show’s judges — Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke. “We are witnessing some sort of evolution of the Macaw, and it is beautiful,” Jeong said.

  1. And Scherzinger added, “You are such an inspiration to so many.” Whereas 97 million votes were recorded when Archuleta finished second on “American Idol” in 2008, the winner of “Masked Singer” is chosen by the votes of the show’s judges and studio audience.
  2. Michael Becker | Fox) Bishop Briggs was named the winner of “The Masked Singer” on Wednesday.

And it was pretty clear that two of the judges have never heard Archuleta sing, because just listening to the Macaw’s performances made it clear it was him. However, McCarthy’s final guess was that Neil Patrick Harris was inside the costume; Thicke guessed Jason Mraz; Jeong and Scherzinger correctly guessed Archuleta.

  1. Just before his unmasking, the Utahn reiterated that he “had a lot of anxiety before coming onto this show because I was afraid to show myself.
  2. It’s been a difficult last couple of years.
  3. And (I’m) truly humbled.” Later in the show, Archuleta said that he didn’t think he would make it to the “Masked Singer” final, adding that “honestly, I didn’t even know if I’d still be singing at all.

Not a lot of people know this about me, but I had a major injury last year that left me completely silent for three months.” Archuletta revealed in early 2022 that he had to cancel a concert tour because he had surgery to remove nodules from his vocal chords.

  1. I was also going through some pretty big life events, and I began to wonder if this is really for me,” he said.
  2. But after taking time to reflect, I realized,
  3. That I should keep trying, even with all the changes.” Although he’s finished second twice, Archuleta has won a televised singing competition.

In 2003, when he was just 12 years old, the Utahn was the junior vocalist champion on a CBS version of “Star Search.” He pocketed $100,000 for that. And it’s not altogether accurate to call “The Masked Singer” a singing competition. It’s a costume spectacular with singing, but not all those who compete are talented vocalists.

Who is the couple on The Masked Dancer

Answered By: Caleb Hill Date: created: Jan 28 2024

Now we know! (Picture: PA) First ever masked duo Pillar and Post have been revealed on The Masked Dancer due to a medical injury which forced Pillar out of the competition. Husband and wife duo David and Frankie Seaman were revealed to be the couple behind the masks.

‘It was nerve-wracking,’ David admitted afterwards, despite the pair being ‘gutted’ to go due to Frankie’s leg injury. From all the clues so far, fans had been guessing it was the Dancing on Ice duo, although, Rochelle and Marvin Humes, and Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden’s names had also been thrown into the mix.

Sorry, this video isn’t available any more. Host Joel Dommett explained on tonight’s episode: ‘Sadly, Pillar took a tumble during rehearsals and I am absolutely gutted to tell you that on medical advice they have had to withdraw from the competition.’ After the panel – Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall and Peter Crouch – had shared their final guesses as to who they thought was behind the masks, Pillar and Post were revealed to be the goalkeeping legend and ice skating star. David and Frankie were behind Pillar and Post! (Picture: ITV) Fans had been guessing the goalkeeper and ice skater (Picture: ITV) In a statement, Frankie said of leaving the competition: ‘ We were gutted as we absolutely loved every minute! (Picture: PA) An ITV spokesperson confirmed: ‘Due to an injury sustained during rehearsals Pillar has had to withdraw from the competition, we wish her a speedy recovery.’ The last star to be unmasked on the show was 46-year-old choirmaster Gareth Malone, who was sent home by judges Peter Crouch, Davina McCall, Oti Mabuse and Jonathan Ross last week. Gareth Malone was unmasked as Cactus (Picture: ITV) Despite his musical background, Gareth confessed to being out of his ‘comfort zone’ on the show, and added: ‘I’m never doing it again. I was sick with nerves. I’m so out of my comfort zone. I don’t know how to dance, I don’t have that thing.’ Earlier in the second series of the hit show, Desperate Housewives actor Jesse Metcalfe was the first contestant to be unmasked having performed as Astronaut.

Elsewhere, Joanna Page was unveiled as Pig and Stacey Dooley was Prawn Cocktail, The Masked Dancer continues next Saturday at 6.30pm on ITV. Got a story?
