Who won The Masked Singer tonight

Answered By: Rodrigo Martinez Date: created: Jan 10 2025

THE MASKED SINGER Warning: This article contains spoilers from the season 9 finale of The Masked Singer, And just like that, another season of The Masked Singer has come to an end. It finished much the same way it began, with Medusa slithering her way to victory by wowing the panelists with her high-octane performances.

  1. This time around, that included “Elastic Heart” by Sia and “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance.
  2. Hers weren’t the only powerhouse vocals to bring the house down, though.
  3. Fellow finalist Macaw brought the panel to tears with his performances of “Hold Back the River” by James Bay and “All by Myself” by Eric Carmen.

In fact, the entire finale was incredibly emotional for everyone. After Macaw was revealed to be American Idol finalist David Archuleta (shout out to Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger for getting it right!), Jeong broke down in tears as he told the singer about how, when his wife was pregnant and on bedrest, and their babies were fighting for their lives, he and his wife would watch Archuleta on American Idol,

  • You were like a ray of light to my family, and it’s an honor to see you in this capacity,” Jeong told him, “Thank God for you, I love you.” The sweet moment ended with a rare group hug from all the panelists, who surrounded Jeong with love.
  • Macaw and Medusa both got to share their emotional journeys on the show as well.

It was a moment made more special by the fact they actually let Medusa stay on stage for Macaw’s reveal, as opposed to awkwardly moving her off to the side as has been done with past winners. All the feels finally ended with Medusa unmasking. Scherzinger was on fire tonight — she was the only panelist to guess both contestants’ identities.

  1. In the end, Medusa was revealed to be bestselling singer Bishop Briggs,
  2. Below, EW spoke with Briggs about what winning the show meant to her, why she was “a pest” on set, and her exciting new EP and tour.
  3. THE MASKED SINGER: Medusa in the “Season Finale” episode of THE MASKED SINGER airing Wednesday, May 17 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

CR: Michael Becker/FOX. ©2023 FOX Media LLC. Medusa on ‘The Masked Singer’ | Credit: Michael Becker/FOX ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: By the end of the season, we got way more performances from you than any other contestant. Did you ever get tired? BISHOP BRIGGS: I am really grateful for adrenaline. At the time of filming, I was about five or six months postpartum, and I feel like that sort of delirious energy can sometimes be incredible for vulnerability and being present in the moment.

And so I really tried to keep all those things afloat. Tell me about your finale songs — why did you want to sing those two specifically? Well, I begged and begged for “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance because that’s a song that I actually have in my own set. So it really felt like it represents who I am as an artist and performer, and so I really hope that My Chemical Romance feels proud of me.

And also, in true Masked Singer incredibleness, if that’s even a word, being able to stand on top of a piano with flames behind me I mean, it was such a dream come true. And then with a song like “Elastic Heart” by Sia — I really felt this as I was performing it — it felt like the lyrics were telling my story on the show, about having a thick skin and leaning in with my heart and soul.

  1. And so having the combination of both of those complete my journey, meant the world.
  2. Did you set out to win the show from the beginning or were you there just for fun? You know, I’m not competitive with others, but I’m very competitive with myself.
  3. And so I was really, really, really, really wanting to win.

And when I had that moment with Nicole ringing the bell, and I really saw my journey flash before my eyes, I felt so defeated and deflated. You learn in those moments how much you really want something. And because I was having time away from my son to be on the show, it made me even more determined and even more hungry, and just the thought of being able to show him the trophy made me so excited.

  • Since you were there more than anyone else, did you figure out who any of the other contestants were? Oh my gosh, I poked and prodded and asked questions, and I truly got nowhere.
  • I was a pest on set.
  • You can ask anyone that works there.
  • I was asking them for hints, clues, hair color, shoe size, anything I could.

But they are very professional and they would just laugh at me. The finale was probably the most emotional one yet. Walk me through what it was like up there for you in those moments with Macaw. I’m such a huge fan of, can I say his name ? David. Macaw. I’m such a huge fan.

And throughout the season, throughout every single round, I had no idea if I would make it to the next step. So to be standing on stage with someone that I admired not only as a vocalist, but as a human being, in that moment, we both were sharing our stories and our journeys of identity and having difficulty wanting to continue on in life.

And so to be on stage with him in that moment, I feel like we were kindred spirits. It was really emotional and it felt like something that I will hold on to for the rest of my life for sure. You just released a new song, “Baggage,” and you have more new music and a tour coming up.

  1. What can you tell me about all of that, and what about it are you most excited to share with people? I’m really excited.
  2. So my EP, When Everything Went Dark, comes out June 23.
  3. And I also just released a new song called “Baggage.” And, you know, in terms of what I’m talking about and going through with that EP, it really was a coping mechanism for the timeframe of losing my sister really unexpectedly.

And so it’s sort of like the past, present, and future. And I hope that when people finish the EP, they feel as though they can continue on and they can keep going and they can live alongside their grief, no matter how heavy it feels. And then with the tour, I can’t wait.

  • I’m going to be bringing my son along with me and my husband.
  • They’re going to be in the band.
  • No, I’m just kidding.
  • But I’m very excited.
  • They’re going to be coming along with me.
  • It’s a tour with MisterWives.
  • My main goal as a performer and every single tour that I go into, I want people to leave the show feeling like they are not alone in their pain, that we are in it together, and we will get through it together.

So I can’t wait for all the things. And I especially can’t wait for the Masked Singer finale to air because I am just sweating profusely every time I get a text from someone that knows me, or someone that knows my mannerisms, and not being able to respond to those texts, has been very difficult. Bishop Briggs | Credit: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic Tonight, you can just send out a bunch of snake emojis. Yeah. God, I can’t wait to send snake emojis. What did your time on The Masked Singer mean to you? It meant everything. It was such an interesting chapter in my life, and I also think it was a really big learning experience of just knowing that the emotion that I feel every time I sing, that it does translate to the people in front of me.

Did someone drop out of masked singer

Answered By: Gabriel Lewis Date: created: Jul 15 2024

The Masked Singer fans were left stunned during Wednesday evening’s episode after one of the new additions to the cast revealed they were pulling out of the singing competition. Scarecrow took to the stage for the first time during the Fox show’s November 23 “Fright Night” episode, performing alongside those in the Sir Bug a Boo and Snowstorm costumes. The Scarecrow left “The Masked Singer” fans shocked when they pulled out of the competition during the Wednesday, November 23, episode. They gave a performance of “Abracadabra” by the Steve Miller Band. Michael Becker/FOX Normally on The Masked Singer one performer is knocked out instantly after the first round, leaving the remaining two performers to compete in a battle royale to determine who will proceed to the next stage.

But before host Nick Cannon could announce which of the three performers received the least number of votes from the panel and studio audience, Scarecrow unmasked herself and pulled out of the competition. Earlier this year, ahead of the show’s return, The Masked Singer ‘s official Instagram account shared that Scarecrow’s first clue was a crow, leading fans to predict it could be Smashing Pumpkin’s lead singer Billy Corgan, singer Michelle Branch or The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder behind the mask.

During the episode, however, it was revealed that the famous face behind the Scarecrow mask was actually The Exorcist actress Linda Blair. Host Nick Cannon was left stunned when “The Exorcist” actress Linda Blair unmasked herself during the “Fright Night” episode of “The Masked Singer.” Michael Becker/FOX The star played Regan MacNeil in the 1973 horror film, and won a Golden Globe Award and received a nomination for an Academy Award for her performance.

On The Masked Singer Blair revealed to a stunned Cannon why she was leaving the show, saying: “I love this show so much. “I want to share how much I love you and what you all have done for the world and family entertainment. But I would like to officially bow out and unmask and let these two incredible competitors go on.

These two competitors are the real deal. I just came to bother Ken,” Blair, who has now stepped back from acting, added that she came on the show to publicise her work in rescuing animals across the country. Linda Blair has stepped away from acting to focus on her work rescuing dogs. She is pictured here at the 2018 American Rescue Dog Show on January 14, 2018 in Pomona, California. Jerod Harris/Getty Images The star, 63, has been rescuing animals since 1997, and in 2006 created her nonprofit Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, with a mission “to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home shelter animals while also focusing on educating the public on important life threatening issues plaguing the animal community today.” Newsweek has contacted representatives for Blair for comment.

Following Scarecrow’s shock exit Sir Bug a Boo and Snowstorm battled it out on stage, each performing “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell. The panel voted for Snowstorm to stay and Sir Bug a Boo was revealed to be Ray Parker Jr., who wrote and performed the Ghostbusters theme song. Snowstorm will now compete in the semifinals against Harp, who fans think is Glee actress Amber Riley, and the Lambs, who viewers believe are “Hold On” hitmakers Wilson Phillips,

The Masked Singer semis air on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, Snowstorm was crowned the winner of the latest “The Masked Singer” episode and has made it through to the semifinals. Scarecrow pulled out. Michael Becker/FOX

Who is in the finals of masked singer

‘The Masked Singer’ Finale Reveals Identities of Medusa and Macaw: Here’s Who Won Season 9 SPOILER ALERT: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 9, episode 14 season finale of “,” which aired May 17 on Fox. Like a river, kept a steady flow throughout Season 9 of Fox’s “The Masked Singer” — and her perseverance was rewarded with the championship.

  1. Briggs, as Medusa, won this season’s top prize and was finally unmasked on Wednesday night’s finale, along with runner-up, revealed as the Macaw.
  2. Briggs, who performed the most of any contestant this season, sealed her victory with performances of “Elastic Heart,” by Sia, and “Welcome to the Black Parade,” by My Chemical Romance.

Although Briggs said singing under the Medusa costume was a challenge, she pointed out that it was nothing compared to what she did last year. “When I was on the show, I was six months postpartum,” she said. “My most recent memory was performing at Coachella while pregnant, which was such an undertaking.

I feel like compared to that, this was okay. That made a huge difference that I had something so intense to compare it to, being six months pregnant and performing in the desert heat. And so, I think that helped my endurance a little bit.” Briggs is known for hits including “Wild Horses” and “River”; she recently released the new single “Baggage” and has the new EP “When Everything Went Dark” coming out next month, followed by a North American tour this fall with MisterWives.

In participating in “The Masked Singer,” Briggs said she was a fan of the show and was curious about “having the opportunity to really make it about my voice it was an adventure performing underneath the costume, for sure. I feel like I could see at the beginning of each song and then by the end of it, who knows what I could see.

But my expectations going in were just to be as authentic as possible. And my hope was that the emotion would come through.” Briggs was almost eliminated earlier in the season but saved by the show’s “Ding Dong Keep It On” bell. Asked to choose her favorite performance of the season, she went with her cover of Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.” “I got to do all the things that I love to do in my own sets,” she said.

“I got to lean into the passion of the song, I got to run around, and I love Hozier.” For Medusa, panelist Nicole Scherzinger got it right with Bishop Briggs. Robin Thicke thought it was Grimes. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg picked Fergie. Ken Jeong went rogue with Susan Boyle.

As for Macaw, Scherzinger got it right again, this time with David Archuleta. Jeong agreed. Thicke thought it was Jason Mraz. McCarthy Wahlberg went with Neil Patrick Harris. Like last season, “The Masked Singer” has once again adopted a “Champion of Masked Singer” format during the regular season. Each episode, three costumed celebrities performed, but only one would win and move on to compete again the following week.

New this season was “Ding Dong Keep It On.” In the new twist to the competition, panelists had the opportunity to save a singer from looming elimination, but the bell can only be rung three times during the first three rounds. Those three singers then faced off on a special episode in a battle to rejoin the competition — which wound up including Medusa.

Bishop Briggs as Medusa and David Archuleta as Macaw join Pentatonix as California Roll, Olivia Culpo as UFO, Lou Diamond Phillips as Mantis, Keenan Allen as Gargoyle, Melissa Joan Hart as Lamp, Alicia Witt as Dandelion, Dee Snider as the Doll, Christine Quinn as Scorpio, George Wendt as Moose, Holly Robinson Peete as Fairy, Alexa Bliss as Axolotl, Lele Pons as Jackalope, Malin Akerman as Squirrel, Michael Bolton as the Wolf, Grandmaster Flash as Polar Bear, Debbie Gibson as Night Owl, Howie Mandel as Rock Lobster, Sara Evans as Mustang and Dick Van Dyke as Gnome as the celebrities unmasked this season.

“The Masked Singer” entered Season 9 with 21 contestants include “Mustang,” “Axolotl,” “California Roll,” “Dandelion,” “Moose,” “Gargoyle,” “Jackalope,” “Doll,” Polar Bear,” “Night Owl,” “Rock Lobster,” “Gnome,” “Macaw,” “Squirrel,” “Wolf” and more. Tim Chappel is this season’s costume designer.

The Season 9 contestants “boast a combined 28 Emmy nominations, six Grammy wins, 10 gold albums, four Golden Globe nominations, five medals, 26 books, two Tony Award nominations, five Lifetime Achievement Awards, four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a combined 95,231,000 records sold.” Season nine will introduce all-new themed episodes, including “ABBA Night,” “New York Night,” “DC Superheroes Night,” “Sesame Street Night,” “80s Night,” “Movie Night” and more.

Here were the final two contestants and their performances on night fourteen: Nick Cannon and Medusa, “The Masked Singer” (Michael Becker/Fox) Pete Dadds

  • Medusa (BISHOP BRIGGS)
  • Songs : “Elastic Heart,” by Sia; “Welcome to the Black Parade,” by My Chemical Romance
  • Panel guesses: Elle Goulding, Fergie, Kesha, Grimes, Lorde, Shirley Manson, Bishop Briggs

Package voiceover : “I think people who know me wouldn’t be the least bit surprised I’m wearing a costume with a bunch of snakes all over it and looking creepy. Being a cheeky, reptilian enchantress is basically my aesthetic. The truth is, I feel really grateful I have such a powerful costume to embody.

  • Medusa has become my second skin.
  • The truth is I feel really grateful that I have such a powerful costume to embody.
  • Medusa has become my second skin.
  • I’m actually afraid I’ll get too used to it and won’t take it off when I go on tour.
  • I fought hard to get here, and it would mean so much to me to join the ranks of past winners like the amazing Queen of Hearts,

This experience is something I’ll carry with me forever I cannot believe I am here in the finale! It has been such a journey. I am grateful but deep down in my stomach there is a fire that makes me really want to win. Because more than any other singer this season, I had to fight the hardest to earn my place here tonight.

I was almost sent home, but all of those obstacles prepared me for this moment right now. Because no matter the circumstances, my priority is the connection with the people in front of me. And the hope that they’ll feel less alone because of my music. I hope when my son watches this he’ll hear Medusa’s message that we are capable of being so many different things at once.

That with great loss, there is always still joy. And more than anything, it’s worth fighting for. I hope I make him proud.” Previous songs: “Someone Like You,” by Adele; “Happier Than Ever,” by Billie Eilish; “Dancing Queen,” by ABBA; “New York, New York,” by Frank Sinatra; “Mercy,” by Shawn Mendes; “Take Me to Church,” by Hozier Previous panel guesses : Elle Goulding, Megan Markle, Jessie J, Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, Lorde, Tove Lo, Apple Martin, Dakota Johnson, Florence Welch, Shirley Manson, Susan Boyle, Kesha, Imogen Heap, Regina Spektor, Bishop Briggs, Amy Lee, Halsey, Ashlee Simpson, Grimes, Natalie Merchant, Paula Cole, Hailee Steinfeld, Dove Cameron, Dido. Nick Cannon and Macaw, “The Masked Singer” (Michael Becker/Fox) Pete Dadds

  1. Macaw (DAVID ARCHULETA)
  2. Songs : “Hold Back the River,” by James Bay; “All by Myself,” by Eric Carmen
  3. Panel guesses : Zayn Malik, Neil Patrick Harris, Doug Robb of Hoobastank, David Archuleta, Darren Criss

Package voiceover : “Becoming the Macaw is exciting because it’s like I’m becoming a new person. Even though people can’t see me in this, in a way it lets me show a lot more of myself. I can show the colors I was too afraid to show, and I’m able to tap deeper emotionally in my performances.

  1. You know, I had a lot of anxiety coming here because I wasn’t sure I could handle an environment of being judged again.
  2. Especially with millions watching me on TV.
  3. But being the Macaw makes it a lot more fun.
  4. And if I win, it means I actually can win something.
  5. Maybe the last night for Macaw, but he’ll live in me forever.

When I first started this competition, I didn’t think I’d make it this far. And honestly, I wasn’t sure I’d still be singing at all. Not a lot of people know this about me, but I had a major injury last year that made me completely silent for three months.

Has The Masked Singer started 2023

The Masked Singer 2023’s first clues as 13 stars get into costume for new series The Masked Singer is returning to ITV for 2023 with 13 stars in 13 brand new costumes amid a show first whilst Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall are all returning to the panel The Masked Singer 2023: Full line-up is returning for 2023 with 13 stars in 13 brand new costumes amid a show first.

  1. Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall are all returning to the panel for the show, which kicks off in January 2023 and will be hosted by comedian Joel Dommett.
  2. With a record 13 new stars and 13 new costumes, no expense has been spared.
  3. The fan-favourite series will be airing on the very first day of the new year at 6:30pm on ITV1.

Vying for the coveted Masked Singer crown in series four will be Fawn, Jacket Potato, Piece of Cake, Pigeon, Rhino, Rubbish, Ghost, Jellyfish, Knitting, Otter, Phoenix and for the first time on The Masked Singer, there will be a duo under the guise of Cat and Mouse.

  1. There’s 13 new stars ready to fight to keep their mask on ( ITV) Davina recently sat down with and Phillip Schofield on to discuss the upcoming series.
  2. Pigeon played pigeon so well.
  3. Phoenix was a phoenix.
  4. I started forgetting there was a celebrity in the costume, phoenix was so good,” she said.
  5. The star also explained how she’s able to guess so many celebrities correctly when they’re hidden under a mask.

“Some people you can tell from their gait. I just met somebody back stage said their guess is Gloria Hunniford from the way she walked and nothing else,” she said. The new arrivals come after Natalie Imbruglia was revealed to be masquerading as Panda on series three of the show, with other stars including footballer Michael Owen, who hid behind a Doughnuts mask, and Charlotte Church was hiding under a Mushroom costume.

Here we take a look at some of the early clues from the panellists, ahead of the show starting on January 1, 2023.Cat and Mouse are the talk of the town, given they’re the first ever duo on The Masked Singer.

“It’s funny because you’d think, “Oh. Well, there’s two of them. If they’re a duo, then it’s easier to guess”. But I’ve been looking at them thinking, “You’re not a couple,” but then they might be acting like they are a couple,” Davina said of their identity.

Jonathan also admitted it made things harder for them in deciding who might be behind the mask, adding: “So it makes it a bit harder to guess because the clues could be about one of them or both of them, you know what I mean? Jacket Potato will be serving their songs up hot! ( ITV) “So it’s harder in many ways but it’s a lot more fun to watch because you try and pick up from them what is their relationship? Are they people who are together off screen? Are they people who work together? So it feels like a different element and it means that they can do different things on stage together as well.

So you have a different kind of comic dynamic going on there. Mo – who is returning to the panel after taking a brief break during last year’s Masked Dancer – teased some great costumes ahead. He said: “Probably this series, my favourite costume is Jacket Potato, it’s so weird! You’ve even got styrofoam feet that you get for jacket potatoes.

And you just look at it and the attention to detail is insane, he’s got a shirt of beans and there is butter on his head. “And then there’s Otter, I love otters, one of my favourite animals. Otters have a stone that they have to smash clams, so ours has little pockets for the stones on the costume. The attention to detail and the costumes are so cool.” There’s even more crazy costumes this series! ( ITV) There will be some emotional performances this time too.

Davina divulged: “Absolutely!! Jellyfish is an extraordinary performer and has made us all feel pretty emotional. Rhino, as well, has been particularly emotive. There are people who completely draw you in. “It’s lucky for Rhino, actually, that they can pull some emotion out of the bag, because it’s very, very hard in that costume to give us anything at all.

  • They are massive, and they are quite humble.” She added: “They keep putting their little hooves together, it looks so sweet.
  • If it’s possible to have a sweet rhino, this is it.” *The Masked Singer starts on 1st January at 6.30pm ITV1 and ITVX.

  1. They are massive, and they are quite humble.” She added: “They keep putting their little hooves together, it looks so sweet.
  2. If it’s possible to have a sweet rhino, this is it.” *The Masked Singer starts on 1st January at 6.30pm ITV1 and ITVX.
