- They are not sanctioned by the BBBofC and are instead overseen by the Professional Boxing Association in white collar-stye fights.
- Misfits is promoted by experienced brothers Kalle and Nisse Sauerland and broadcast by DAZN.
- All parties insist medical procedures around the events are stringent but BBBofC general secretary Robert Smith has voiced his fears.
- He said on George Groves Boxing Club podcast: “I have spoken to members of Misfits about having a meeting because I am concerned.
“If somebody gets injured it’s boxing, it’s not Misfits boxing, it’s boxing. The first person who’s going to get the phonecall is me. “The trouble we’ve got is they may not want to come to the Board because they know they won’t get a licence so there’s half the show gone and I fully understand that.
- KSI, 29, has now boxed in six bouts, but only one has been professionally sanctioned.
- , a win over over Joe Weller, 27, in London and a draw with Logan Paul, 27, at the Manchester Arena.
- But KSI beat Paul in their rematch a year later which was sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission.
- KSI’s three wins since then have all been on Misfits and thus not as a pro boxer.
- Meanwhile, Paul’s brother Jake, 26, is a 6-1 pro prizefighter having been licensed to box in Florida, LA, Georgia, Ohio and Arizona.

- The American and KSI to finally settle their feud.
- But demanded the bout be under the BBBofC if he is to travel to England, leaving Smith expecting to apply for a licence.
He said: “We won’t start looking at it until he applies but I presume that’s coming. But if he’s not good enough he won’t get one, it’s as simple as that. “Jake Paul has a licence with California, he’s not the best boxer in the world but I don’t think he disgraced himself,

Is misfits boxing white collar?
Shalom Rejects Misfits Boxing Being Called ‘Boxing,’ Firm That Sky/Boxxer is Best Option For UK Fighters
Promoter Ben Shalom of Boxxer is firm in his opinion that former world champion Liam Smith is a tougher opponent than Conor Benn for Chris Eubank Jr.Eubank was scheduled to face Benn last fall, but the entire event was called off when Benn tested positive for a banned substance. This Saturday in Manchester, Eubank will collide with Smith in a middleweight showdown.
“Smith is a much better boxer than Conor Benn and is probably a much better boxer than Eubank Jr, he’s a former world champion. Smith has done much more in his career than Eubank Jr, it’s a tougher fight than Conor Benn,”, Shalom shook his head at the recent events being staged by Misfits Boxing.
- The events, which are carried by DAZN, involve boxing matches with social media influencers.
- It’s dangerous to call the Misfits card boxing, it’s entertainment, it’s celebrity white collar, but make sure it’s not called boxing because it’s not.
- It’s confusing and misleading and a bit of a freak show,” Shalom said.
I’ve not got anything against it, it what it is – I don’t have anything against it. But it’s entertainment for their followers. If they were playing football, golf, or swimming they’d have a sold out arena, the people are coming to watch them. I think it’s a bit funny when boxing media are covering it because it’s not boxing.
- I’ve nothing against these guys, but just be upfront about it, it’s celebrity white collar.” The young promoter feels strongly that Boxxer and Sky Sports, who have an exclusive working relationship, are currently the best option for fighters in UK.
- Sky is the biggest platform in the UK; it has millions and millions of sports fans.
It’s like no other. For boxers, it’s not just about how much money you can make but how famous you can become. And ultimately to be a boxer in this day and age you need to be well known. That’s how you’re going to make your money and there’s no better machine, no better place than Sky,” Shalom said.

DAZN (; “da zone”) is an international over-the-top sports streaming service owned by DAZN Group, which is majority owned by Access Industries, DAZN Group began operations in 2016 under the ownership of Perform Group, anchored by its purchase of global media rights to Japan’s J.League football.
It launched in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland on 10 August 2016, followed by Japan on 23 August 2016. The service expanded to Canada in 2017 (with a focus on streaming rights to the National Football League ). After hiring former ESPN president John Skipper, DAZN expanded into the United States in 2018 with a focus on boxing, including major broadcast agreements with promoter Eddie Hearn and Mexican boxer Canelo Álvarez,
In 2018, DAZN and Perform Group’s content business was spun off as DAZN Group, with its sports data business later sold to Vista Equity Partners, who merged it with STATS LLC to form Stats Perform. In 2020, DAZN announced plans to expand worldwide, with a focus on its portfolio of global broadcast rights such as boxing, and original content.
Who is the owner of DAZN
‘Netflix of Sport’ – Blavatnik has been the owner of DAZN Group since 2014 after Access Industries increased its stake from 42.5% to 77%. In 2016, OTT sports platform DAZN launched in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Japan and then Canada the following year.
- It has since opened in 200 countries and territories, including Italy, Spain, Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States.
- DAZN are looking to make a big dent in the sporting world and have been successful across Europe in Italy and Germany.
- They currently have the rights to Serie A in Italy and it is believed they have an estimated one million subscribers while DAZN Germany have exclusive rights for the Bundesliga.
While they have also enjoyed success in Japan, the same cannot be said about DAZN USA. Despite pumping hundreds of millions into boxing and MLB, DAZN have under one million subscribers compared to nine million for ESPN+. Following the huge success of vs on DAZN Germany – with more than one million streams – DAZN decided to focus on boxing as their marquee sport to begin with on DAZN USA.
They made the face of their flagship on a $365million, 11-fight deal to make it the largest contract signed by a professional athlete. And Michael Buffer was the announcer who shouted the rhetorical slogan of ‘pay-per-view is dead’. Canelo fought just three of the 11 bouts agreed after filing a lawsuit against former promotional company Golden Boy.
It released him from his contract and he is now a free agent. And four years on from telling fans that paying for additional fights was dead, DAZN will stage their first PPV event on May 7 when Canelo takes on Dmitry Bivol. The streaming platform is continuing their efforts in boxing though and will also stage the upcoming middleweight unification between and Ryota Murata on April 9.
Who is replacing DAZN?
The winner of the latest round of streaming wars is fuboTV. The American streaming service announced today that it secured exclusive broadcast rights for the Premier League in Canada. Beginning next season on a three-year deal, it will replace DAZN as the country’s broadcaster for England’s top soccer league.
