Was Mad-Eye Moody always Barty

Answered By: Simon Wright Date: created: Jun 28 2024

Barty Crouch Jr. despises Draco Malfoy when they meet in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and there is a good reason why. In the fourth Harry Potter film, Barty Crouch Jr. is enlisted by Voldemort to infiltrate Hogwarts to get closer to Harry Potter.

He does this by assuming the identity of ex-Auror, Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody and taking the position of the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. While disguised as Moody, Crouch attacks Draco by turning him into a ferret. Initially, this comes across as a gesture of goodwill as “Moody” says he did it because Draco was going to curse Harry behind his back.

This sort of small detail in Goblet of Fire hides the twist that Moody is Crouch in disguise. However, “Moody” attacking Draco takes on a whole new meaning when looking back on the scene and realizing that it is in fact Crouch.

Moody joined the Auror Academy after graduating from Hogwarts, and shortly after graduating from the Academy he was picked for the Most Charming Smile Award by Witch Weekly.

Sometime after graduation he was partnered with Michael Proctor. At some point Moody became acquainted with the Muggle sport of golf, and declared to Albus Dumbledore that it was the only leisure activity he actually found relaxing. One of them was Snape, which might have indicated a strained relationship after Snape’s betrayal.

Why do the Malfoys hate Dumbledore

Answered By: Nathan Ward Date: created: Nov 11 2024

Albus Dumbledore – Albus Dumbledore, his enemy ” I’m afraid we feel you’ve rather lost your touch. ” —Lucius on Dumbledore’s suspension Lucius Malfoy had a strong dislike of Albus Dumbledore, This is due to two reasons – Dumbledore believed in Muggle rights which contradicted Malfoy’s pure blood beliefs.

  1. In addition, Lucius was a Death Eater, so he believed that Lord Voldemort was a much more powerful wizard than Dumbledore.
  2. Lucius always believed that Dumbledore becoming Headmaster was the worst thing that happened to Hogwarts,
  3. In 1992, Lucius Malfoy was indirectly responsible for the second opening of the Chamber of Secrets,

This was an attempt to discredit Arthur Weasley but Lucius also wanted to include Dumbledore by using the excuse of blaming him for doing nothing to stop the Chamber’s opening. Lucius abused his position as a Hogwarts Governor and threatened the other Governors to vote for Dumbledore’s suspension after several attacks on Hogwarts students.

  1. However, when Ginny Weasley was taken into the Chamber, the other Governors decided to face Malfoy and Dumbledore was reinstated.
  2. Lucius was furious that Dumbledore dared to return to Hogwarts, but Dumbledore was aware that Lucius had threatened the other Governors.
  3. Consequently, Lucius was sacked as a Hogwarts Governor.

In the following years, Lucius continued to dislike Dumbledore and cause trouble for him. When Voldemort was resurrected in 1995, Lucius returned to his service. As the Ministry was refusing to believe Dumbledore about Voldemort’s return, they started a smear campaign to discredit him.

  1. Lucius contributed to this smear campaign by describing Dumbledore as “eccentric” for his past choice of teachers including the werewolf Remus Lupin, half-giant Rubeus Hagrid and ex- Auror Alastor Moody,
  2. Later that year, Lucius participated in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and fought against the Order of the Phoenix,

However, he was arrested and sent to Azkaban, Dumbledore believed that Lucius would feel “safe” in Azkaban because Voldemort was furious at Lucius’ failure in the Department of Mysteries,

Why do the Malfoys hate Muggles?

The Malfoy family, known for despising Muggles and Muggle-borns, actually gained property and wealth through interactions with Muggle royals. Draco Malfoy, influenced by his prejudiced father, eventually grows out of his family’s pure-blood mania, which was ingrained in the Malfoys’ ethos.

  • The International Statute of Secrecy changed the Malfoys’ relationship with wealthy Muggles, forcing them to fully assimilate into wizarding culture and embrace their belief in Muggle inferiority.
  • The Malfoy family is known in Harry Potter to despise Muggles and Muggle-borns, but their history reveals this wasn’t always true.

As members of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, the Malfoys prided themselves on their pure-blood status and saw interaction with non-magical people as a disgrace. The family had been prominent in the British wizarding world community for centuries, building wealth and renown through their influence within the Ministry of Magic.

” Barty Crouch was a stiff, upright, elderly man, dressed in an impeccably crisp suit and tie. The parting in his short grey hair was almost unnaturally straight and his narrow toothbrush moustache looked as though he trimmed it using a slide-rule. His shoes were very highly polished.

Why did the Goblet of Fire give 4 names?
