Was Michael Schumacher the Stig

Answered By: Elijah Baker Date: created: Sep 17 2022

Remembering when Michael Schumacher was unveiled as ‘The Stig’ – 10 years since his F1 retirement Michael Schumacher once revealed himself to be the Stig on Top Gear, he certainly would have been perfect for the role. It depends who you ask exactly, but no one could argue if you named Schumacher as the greatest Formula One driver ever to step foot in a car.

  1. With German won seven drivers’ World championships, giving him the joint most with Lewis Hamilton, and was a fierce and aggressive competitor.
  2. After winning two titles with Benetton, the legendary driver won five in-a-row with Ferrari, winning the first title in 21 years for the Prancing Horse, when he won his first in 2000.

One of his most iconic away from the track came in 2009, when he appeared on Top Gear, when The Stig revealed who he ‘really’ was. The Stig character was a masked racing driver who always showed Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May how to drive.

His actual name remained a mystery for years, as he only ever appeared dressed head to toe in racing gear, and never lifting his visor. With rumours flying about who it might have actually been, the Top Gear team decided to tease that they’d finally reveal who it was. Out came the Stig and he sat on the couch to be interviewed by Clarkson, who praised the mystery man with how well he drove the Ferrari.

That was some understatement when Schumacher was revealed to be the person wearing Stig’s outfit, but of course it wasn’t actually him. Schumacher celebrates his seventh world title. Image: Alamy Schumacher first joined F1 when he was given a seat at Jordan in 1991, and he impressed straight away with the midfield team. He won his first Drivers’ Championship in 1994, with the season marred by the death of Ayrton Senna, sadly fans never got to see the two greats battle it out for a title. Schumacher leads Hill in 1994. Image: Alamy The Benetton driver defended the title the following year, once again defeating Hill but this time by a much bigger difference in the points standings. He moved to Ferrari in 1996, with Hill winning the title that year and then Jacques Villeneuve and Mika Hakkinen winning the subsequent years.

  • Schumacher then came roaring back, and creating the most dominating period of any driver in history, winning five-in-a-row.
  • He retired at the end of the 2006 season but returned in 2010 with Mercedes, in the new German team, driving alongside Nico Rosberg.
  • Schumacher drove for two years with the Silver Arrows before hanging up his helmet for good, leaving the sport as a legend.

Sadly in 2013 he suffered an awful accident whilst skiing, falling onto a rock and suffering a head injury and being induced into a coma. He has not been seen in public since his accident, but he remains a hero to millions around the world. : Remembering when Michael Schumacher was unveiled as ‘The Stig’ – 10 years since his F1 retirement

Who was the 3 Stigs?

Identity – Main article: The Stig’s identity The eyes of The Stig which would turn out to be Ben Collins. The Stig’s true identity is never revealed on the show, and in order to maintain the secrecy, all shots show him wearing full racing overalls and matching Simpson Diamondback helmet, All that can be seen from the gap between The Stig ‘s helmet and jumpsuit is that he is a white male with dark hair.

  1. It is also known that he wears Size 9 racing boots as discovered by the Sunday Times and a well-timed camera flash managed to show The Stig’s eyes by Auto Trader.
  2. Following Perry McCarthy and Ben Collins outing themselves as the first two incarnations of The Stig, it is strongly believed that the race driver portraying the third and so far, longest lasting incarnation of The Stig since 2010 is Phil Keen.

This was due to a faux pas made by presenters Matt LeBlanc and Rory Reid, who both followed the otherwise relative-unknown on their social media accounts. In addition, the identity of Keen was put forth by tabloids as early as the search for Collins’ replacement, potentially indicating a leak from within Top Gear.

Who is the real Stig?

Black Stig –

The Stig (Black)
Top Gear character
Portrayed by Perry McCarthy, occasionally others
Duration 2002–2003
First appearance 20 October 2002 ( Series 1 ; Episode 1)
Last appearance 26 October 2003 ( Series 3 ; Episode 1)

Racing driver Perry McCarthy appeared in 22 Top Gear episodes as the black-suited, original Stig. McCarthy was cast as the Stig following a chance meeting with Jeremy Clarkson at the 2002 launch party for McCarthy’s autobiography, Flat Out, Flat Broke: Formula 1 the Hard Way!,

This led to an audition as a regular presenter, before the production team decided the racing driver would be anonymous. (Contradicting this, McCarthy said in 2008 that Clarkson had mentioned the idea of a “top secret” racing driver at their first meeting.) After the first series ended, an article in The Sunday Mirror on 12 January 2003 named McCarthy as the Stig.

The newspaper quoted a show insider as saying, “Just a handful of the crew know that he is actually Perry.” McCarthy responded at the time, “I do know who the Stig is but I cannot comment any further.” After the second series ended, McCarthy published the second edition of his autobiography, in which he confirmed that he was the Stig.

  1. McCarthy was then “killed off” in the first episode of the third series,
  2. The scene which saw Black Stig “killed off,” nicknamed “Top Gun vs Top Gear,” was an attempt to race to 100 mph (160 km/h) and then come to a halt on the 200 metres (660 ft) long flight deck of HMS Invincible, a Royal Navy aircraft carrier on which British Aerospace Sea Harrier jump jets reach 100 mph (160 km/h) before take-off.

He would be using the “old Top Gear Jag,” a white Jaguar XJS bought for a ” couple of hundred quid,” stripped of its fittings and fitted with nitrous injection to take it to 500 bhp (370 kW). The Stig accelerated along the deck, and an on-screen speedometer indicated 109 mph (175 km/h) before a cutaway shot saw the car flying off the end of the runway ramp and into the sea.

  1. Clarkson then revealed in the last scene of the episode that a glove floating on the sea was all that divers had found.
  2. According to McCarthy, “We tried to make it as much like a scene out of James Bond as possible.” The explanations for McCarthy’s exit vary.
  3. While McCarthy described the parting as amiable in 2008, The Times claimed in 2009 that he had fallen out with producers.

In 2010, McCarthy said he had become tired of the job, which he claimed paid £700 a week, and that part of his annoyance stemmed from an attempt by a car owner to sue him for ruining his car and the BBC’s refusal to defend him due to his anonymity. He said the BBC chose not to renew his contract and had him written out of the show.

  1. Although McCarthy said in 2006 that, following his exit from Top Gear, he harboured ambitions of re-entering racing in the Grand Prix Masters series, he went on to run an investment company and appear as an after-dinner speaker,
  2. According to the Sunday Times, writing in 2009, McCarthy revealed in his book that there had always been more than one Stig, and that then 47-year-old Julian Bailey, a former Formula One driver, had acted as a stand-in for McCarthy.

In a June 2009 interview with the Daily Mail, Bailey, who was selling his home in Effingham, Surrey, said “I was one of the Stigs, which was pretty handy as filming was done just down the road. I have stopped now, but I am not supposed to talk about it.”

Was the Stig in F1

Answered By: Gavin Bailey Date: created: Aug 10 2022

March 3 down the years

What happened on March 3 in Formula One history? 1961 Perry McCarthy, who failed to qualify for any of the F1 races he entered with the hapless Andrea Moda team in 1992, was born. He is better known as the original Stig from the BBC’s hit Top Gear programme.

The popular after-dinner speaker outed himself as the anonymous black-clad test driver in his autobiography Flat Out, Flat Broke, His contract was terminated at the end of the show’s second series. He was replaced by the white Stig.1927 Welsh racing driver John Parry-Thomas became the first man to be killed in pursuit of a land speed record he had held until weeks before when a drive chain broke at 170mph on his remarkable 27-litre car Babs, striking him on the head.

The car rolled over and caught fire, and by the time spectators arrived the partially decapitated Parry-Thomas was dead. In order to retrieve the body from the blaze two of his crew had to break the legs of the corpse to extricate it from the vehicle.

  1. Babs was buried at Pendine Sands close to where he died, but 40 years later it was recovered by Owen Wynn Owen and restored over the next 15 years.
  2. The car is now on display in the Pendine Museum of Speed in Carmarthenshire and occasionally makes appearances at historic events.1992 Maria Grazia Lombardi, better known as Lella and arguably Formula One’s most successful female driver, died at her home in Milan aged 50.

After a busy race involving two safety cars, it was eventually won by Ferrari’s Michael Schumacher, It was an event of high attrition, with just eight of the 22 starters reaching the finish line. The biggest accident was caused by a collision at the start when Ralf Schumacher’s Williams was launched into the air after hitting Barrichello’s Ferrari.

A pile-up at turn one followed, eliminating eight cars. Heinz-Harald Frentzen was disqualified for leaving the pits under a red light, and Enrique Bernoldi for using the spare car. It was the first appearance in F1 for Felipe Massa, Takuma Sato, Allan McNish, Mark Webber and the Toyota F1 Team.1979 Danish driver Nicolas Kiesa was born; although he competed in five grand prix he failed to score any points, but did finish all the races.

Was Lewis Hamilton the Stig?

Who else has been linked to the Stig role? – Michael Schumacher lifted off the Stig helmet at the beginning of series thirteen to a rapturous viewer reception, but this was just a joke. Before Collins came out as the Stig, it was reported that eight different drivers all shared the role, including Lewis Hamilton, Heikki Kovalainen, Chris Goodwin, Dan Lang and Julian Bailey.

Why did Stig leave Top Gear?

Ben Collins On Being ‘The Stig’ – 1. What sort of measures did you have to take to guard your identity for so many years? P.S. Big fan. (liesliesfromtinyeyes) I got myself a BBC ID card with a fake name “Richard Jameson” cleverly made of the 3 presenters names – so that i could book hotels and get up to mischief without getting caught.

Used to wear a balaclava everywhere to hide my face anywhere near a Top Gear shoot and generally be as sneaky as possible.2. At first when you came out as ‘The Stig’ there seemed to be a feud between you and Top Gear but you’ve been on the show since. How’s your relationship with Top Gear now? (fakenoveltyaccount) Frosty but warm – but not boiling, more luke with a slice of lime and hint of mint.3.

Why aren’t you stig anymore? (MrStarkiller1233) Great job but i decided to leave because after 8 years the game was up in terms of keeping it secret. The BBC had leaked my name to the Radio Times and the tabloids ran varous stories, so i handed in my notice.

I wanted to go full time racing again anyway so it was a new lease of life, but it didn’t work out well for the cardboard cut-outs of STIG.! 4. Were you always the Stig? Or were there stand-in Stigs? Did the presenters always know that you were the Stig? (poppynor) I couldn’t make a photo shoot once because I was filming for Top Gear elsewhere and they booked a stand in – apparently Jeremy said “get rid of it” and refused to have his photo taken with him, which made me laugh.

With some very rare exceptions, i did all of my stuff from walking through London to all the testing off camera and all the studio work. The presenters didn’t know for a while at first then yes, they knew, but Jeremy often used to open the visor just to double check. 5. If you could come up with your own “some say” intro for The Stig, what would it be? (courtachino) Some say they should just give me the keys and let me drive without the damn intro! 6. Do you know who the current Stig is? (georgetheguinea) There’s several bless them – it was like the night when they fed Gizmo’s brothers after midnight and Stigs started popping out everywhere.7.

  • How much of the time Stig was on camera did you actually spend in the suit? Was it you walking around London, appearing in studio. etc.
  • Foscarench) I was entirely method.
  • I slept in that suit.
  • I spent family christmases never revealing my identity.
  • To anyone.
  • Not even myself.8.
  • How did you get the job? What kind of training did you go through to become such a badass driver? (Scooby303) Still learning – I had the best teachers which is to say i’ve raced some big talents and you have to learn quickly or finish 2nd all the time.

I got the job by writing to the boss, meeting him and then driving a car – quickly. Quite traditional. I beat the Old Stig’s lap times and got hired – SWEET! 9. Has being a former Stig gotten you out of paying for tickets or vice versa? (Daniiiiii) The Police are pretty cool in my experience but i’ve only ever pulled The Stig card when i was wearing The Suit – otherwise it would have been a double whammy – jail and get fired.

12. Why did you have to ruin the mystery ? (BradMaddox) I did my best for 8 years – which was 7 years longer than the first Stig, so not too bad, but I’m sorry if I ruined christmas.

Why didn’t Michael Schumacher do a lap on Top Gear?

Power Laps – Top Gear Test Track Power Laps is a segment of the programme in which The Stig completes a lap around the track in a reviewed car to compare its performance to previous contenders. To be eligible to appear on the Power Lap Times board, a vehicle must be a road-legal production car and must have sufficient ride height to clear a standard, although occasionally vehicles that do not qualify to appear on the list are still timed.

Whenever a is raced, the time is compared to the official Power Laps but then removed from the board, for example—the owned by (1:10.7) was taken off the board after because it both failed to meet road legal standards and used, All laps are timed with the car’s manufacturer-provided adjustable settings configured for maximum performance—all adjustable suspensions are set at their most efficient, all gear shift maps are at their most aggressive, and driving aids such as traction control are deactivated.

Lap times do not offer complete comparisons between the cars, mainly because wet or otherwise poor weather conditions (see below) can negatively affect lap times.

Why was Black Stig killed off

Answered By: Cole Barnes Date: created: Nov 05 2022

Test your knowledge: Who played the original Top Gear Stig? WHISPER IT Top Gear’s The Stig is a character played by a normal, human racing driver. More than one, in fact. That’s right, contrary to what Top Gear would have us believe, he doesn’t have a digital face, nor does he shed his skin like a snake. If that revelation has shocked you then we must apologise, but everyone finds out at some point. In other news, Father Christmas is oh, never mind.

In September 2010 Ben Collins revealed himself to be the second of Top Gear’s “tame racing drivers” in his controversial book The Man in the White Suit. However, before the white Stig there was the original character, dressed in black, who made his way into the very first show of “new Top Gear” in October 2002.

Black Stig, as he has since become known, lasted 22 episodes before unmasking himself after series two of Top Gear. Do you remember his real name? Some say the answer will be revealed below. Scroll down to reveal it Keep going The original (black) Stig character was played by Perry McCarthy, the London-born racing driver. His identity was first published in a Sunday newspaper in January 2003 but it was later confirmed by McCarthy in a re-issue of his own book, Flat Out, Flat Broke: Formula 1 The Hard Way. : Test your knowledge: Who played the original Top Gear Stig?

What does Stig stand for?

While the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) provides reference guidance across the federal government, and the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) provides guidance for civilian agencies, Department of Defense (DoD) systems have yet another layer of requirements promulgated by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

Federal IT security pros within the DoD must comply with the technical testing and hardening frameworks known by the acronym STIG, or Security Technical Implementation Guide. According to DISA, STIGs “are the configuration standards for DOD and IA-enabled devices/systemsThe STIGs contain technical guidance to ‘lock down’ information systems/software that might otherwise be vulnerable to a malicious computer attack.” To date, DoD has released 461 STIGs, and continues to release more on a semi-regular basis.

While meeting so many requirements may seem daunting, DISA provides both requirements and tools for validating and implementing the security requirements. There are several common testing tools that implement STIGs. Some, like Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), were developed by industry specifically for DISA.

Was Ben Collins always the Stig?

Ben Collins: The Stig was fun but my best year was as Bond’s double Updated: 09:51 BST, 21 May 2023 The name’s Stig: Ben Collins at a track day

  • Racing car driver Ben Collins earned significantly more from writing a book about his time as The Stig on Top Gear than he made appearing on the hit BBC show.
  • The former Formula Three racing driver and European stock car champion worked as The Stig between 2003 and 2010 where his identity was never revealed and the BBC unsuccessfully tried to prevent publication of his autobiography, The Man In The White Suit.
  • While the book was a success, he tells Donna Ferguson his best financial year came later – as a stunt driving double who drove Batman’s Batmobile and James Bond’s Aston Martin.
  • Aged 48, he eschews pensions for investing in cars – with his latest an Arkonik Land Rover Defender for £200,000.
  • Ben runs the, where he reviews cars and gives driving masterclasses to celebrities.

Get a job. It was sound advice and I avoided student debt by working as a labourer on the roof of Exeter university library where I took my law degree. I learned more on the roof. Both my parents were hard-working and comfortably off when I was growing up.

After Dad left school he became an apprentice and worked his way up to a manager of a FTSE 100 company. He was very good at taking a struggling business and turning it around into something that was viable. Mum was a nurse in the Royal Navy and after she retired became a farmer. So from the age of ten, I grew up on a farm in Morchard Bishop, Devon.

That’s where my love of driving began. Aged 11, I sped around on quad bikes, herding animals and moving hay bales. Then at 13, I went off to Blundell’s boarding school in Devon and loved it. But I’d come home and work during the holidays, which was good for me, and fun.

  1. Have you ever struggled to make ends meet? As soon as I flew the coop, I wanted to strike out on my own and to not be reliant on anybody except myself so there were lean times.
  2. I slept on a friend’s bedroom floor for a couple of months when I first moved to London and was job-hunting.
  3. Did you earn a lot on the BBC’s Top Gear? Top Gear was huge fun but it wasn’t entirely reliable.

I never knew how many days a year I would be asked to work. They gave me anything from one-day contracts to five-day contracts, and I’d be asked to be involved at very short notice. I was also racing at the same time – I was part of the team that won the European LeMans series in 2010 – and working in movies as a stunt driving double.

Have you ever been paid silly money? The success of my first book, The Man In The White Suit, in 2010, took me by surprise. I had never earned anything like that money before and it was the equivalent of several years’ salary on the show. Newspapers paid for serial rights and Harper Collins stood firmly behind me when the BBC tried to put an injunction on me and ban the book.

There was a battle about whether I could talk about my identity as The Stig. The BBC didn’t want anyone to know who The Stig was, even though it had already been leaked to the media. Is racing cars well paid as a job? It can be, but not always. Only a tiny percentage of drivers make it professionally and get paid.

  • I was in that group but I rarely worked for the prize fund.
  • There aren’t really big prizes in racing, but one thing you can try to get which the drivers rightly get excited about is winning a Rolex Daytona if you win Daytona.
  • Sadly, I never did.
  • In fact, my car broke down – so I never got my hands on one.

The take-homes that mean something are the trophies. What was the best year of your financial life? It has to be 2013 when I took on a lot of well-paid speaking events, earned good money working as a stunt double. I was James Bond’s stunt driving double for some of the scenes in the Aston Martin in Quantum Of Solace, some scenes in Skyfall, one scene in Spectre and one scene in No Time To Die.

The four months I spent in Turkey working on Skyfall were also amazing. I drove a Land Rover, an Aston Martin and a Jaguar – which had some harsh treatment in London. During filming of The Dark Knight Rises, I drove one of the Batmobile Tumblers, which was a pretty awesome ‘pinch yourself’ moment. What is the most expensive thing you bought for fun? An Arkonik Land Rover Defender for £200,000.

It’s a bit of an investment but worth it. There’s a waiting list to get them. They’re pure joy to drive. Engineers take a derelict vehicle – in my case a 1998 110 Defender – strip it down to its spare parts, restore everything and modernise it sympathetically, but with a 500 horsepower engine.

I purchased mine 18 months ago and it’s still being made. Shaken, not stirred: Ben Collins as stunt driving double for James Bond star Daniel Craig What is your biggest money mistake? Buying shares with no idea what I was doing. Five years ago, I invested several thousand pounds into a reputable fund with a well-known manager that went down 97 per cent.

All you can do is laugh and learn. It is a painful memory. The best money decision you’ve ever made? In my 20s, I invested my paltry savings into one case of Chateau Lafite Rothschild wine. I bought six bottles for £2,500. I sold five years later and the price had doubled.

Do you save into a pension? I don’t trust pensions because the laws keep changing so I’ve started buying cars instead. There’s no capital gains tax on the appreciation in value of a car because it is a deteriorating asset, unless you look after it, of course. New cars often fall in price unless they are highly sought after, in which case they can go up.

After 25 years, I feel like I know what’s a good investment. As well as the Land Rover, I’ve got a Lancia Delta Integrale and 911 Turbo. What is the one luxury you treat yourself to? I get the same feeling skiing as when I’m racing around Le Mans but with utter freedom.

  1. Do you donate money to charity?
  2. Yes and my time – I’m a fan of the Prince’s Trust for empowering young people, as well as Mission Motorsport, which supports our military personnel.
  3. What is your number one financial priority?

I’m focused on growing, The channel is very much a follow-on from my Top Gear life. Some links in this article may be affiliate links. If you click on them we may earn a small commission. That helps us fund This Is Money, and keep it free to use. We do not write articles to promote products.

When was Schumacher’s accident

Answered By: Bruce Turner Date: created: Jan 12 2023

F1 legend Michael Schumacher will go down in history as one of the greatest racing drivers of all time. But Schumacher’s life changed dramatically when he suffered a horrific skiing accident in December 2013. The seven-time world champion has been out of the public eye ever since and his health condition has been kept private, with his family only issuing rare updates.

What happened to Schumacher? Schumacher was left in a critical condition after an accident while skiing with his son Mick in the French ski resort of Meribel on December 29 2013. The then 44-year-old had only just retired from F1 for a second time at the end of the previous season, having returned to the sport with Mercedes between 2010 and 2012.

Schumacher, who was wearing a helmet when he fell and hit his head against a rock, suffered serious brain trauma and was in a coma when he arrived at a French hospital. He underwent immediate surgery before a second operation during the night. Germany’s Bild newspaper reported at the time that Schumacher’s condition had worsened and surgeons had drilled holes in his skull to reduce the pressure on his brain.

Now, the Stig has done it again.

And it was at the wheel of another Ferrari: The SF90 Stradale. Following the premiere of the 29th season of Top Gear on BBC, the show uploaded the SF90 Stradale’s full onboard lap recored video to YouTube for us to enjoy. It was able to set a time of 1:11.3 around the figure-eight style test loop, beating its 710-horsepower Pista sibling by well over a second.

The first few turns are handled without issue, the car’s trick all-wheel drive system able to keep the car pointed in the right direction. Its explosive power makes itself known on the straights, as the Stig climbs through the gears without drama. The only time when he manages to upset the car is through Bentley, the fast right-hander, where the car kicks itself sideways and loses a bit of momentum.

We suspect the Stig could go even quicker if he was given the time to lay down a cleaner lap. Seeing at the peak of Top Gear’s lap time leaderboard isn’t a surprise. The car makes 986 horsepower thanks to a twin-turbo V-8 augmented by three electric motors, allowing for a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds, and a 0-124 time of just 6.7 seconds—quicker than a LaFerrari.

What was the Stig favorite car?

Ever since the man in the white suit came out as Ben Collins, the news has been rolling on out to no doubt capitalize on such a popular topic of conversation. Collins was recently asked by The Daily Telegraph what his favorite car was during his time as the famous Stig. One might think it would have been a Ferrari->ke252 or a Lamborghini->ke44, but you would be very wrong. His favorite car was the little Toyota Aygo->ke2535, which was used to play car football. He said: “We had about five or six touring car drivers on that day and we unanimously agreed we hadn’t had that much fun in a car that we could remember. “The Aygo was the most fun although it was the cheapest.” That’s all well and good, but what about the high performance machines? For this category, Collins picked the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports as the best high-end vehicle during his time on Top Gear->ke1860, stating that it “was the fastest thing we ever drove”. So, what car does The Stig hate more than any others? That’s fairly easy if you remember one of the biggest wrecks Collins had during his time on the show. During a test lap, he lost control of a Koenigsegg->ke43 and damaged the very rare machine by putting it into some tires. To find out more about Collins, you can pick up his new book, The Man in the White Suit: The Stig.,

Was Lando in F2

Answered By: Oscar Walker Date: created: Aug 18 2022

Another racer whose time in F2 was only fleeting: Lando Norris is proof of the age-old proverb that states ‘if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.’ The McLaren F1 junior wasn’t technically a rookie due to his appearance in the 2017 F2 finale at Abu Dhabi, but, more than a year George Russell’s junior, he was young, raw and inexperienced.

McLaren had big plans for the Bristol-born British racer and earmarked him early on for a potential 2019 race seat in F1, when the driver market was set for a shake-up. Still, Norris had to prove he had the mettle. Victory in the first round of 2018, in the Bahrain Feature Race, wasn’t a bad way to start.

He would then keep pace with eventual Champion Russell throughout the campaign, securing a further eight podiums on his way to second place in the Championship. Known for his boyish charm and playful sense of humour, Norris has taken to F1 like a duck to water both on and off the track, impressing alongside his more experience McLaren teammate Carlos Sainz.

Who was kicked out of F1?

Nikita Mazepin was sacked by Haas following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine Sacked Formula One driver Nikita Mazepin says his dismissal by Haas left him with no “trust” in the team. US-owned team Haas had been under immense pressure to act on Russian driver Mazepin’s future following his country’s invasion of Ukraine, with sport around the world cutting ties with Russia.

FIA reveals pledges Russian drivers must make to race in F1 Haas split with Russian driver | Mazepin: I had agreed to all conditions F1 terminates Russian GP contract

Speaking from Moscow for the first time since his dismissal, Mazepin said: “I was ready to agree with this and consider myself neutral. “When they added an additional letter which I had to sign, I did not look at it because my contract had already been terminated.” Mazepin also said he discovered his contract was terminated through a press release, and did not rule out taking legal action against Haas.

  • Formula One is a dangerous sport and you have to rely on the team you are working with.
  • It is a question of safety, and it is fair to say I don’t have that trust in them.

“It is good to keep all (legal) options open. There was no legal reason that could enable the team to terminate my contract. “I was very disappointed with the way it was handled. I was told if the FIA allowed me to compete on their rules, and I agreed to them, there would be no actions to remove me from the seat.

  • I have not heard from the team since it happened and I learnt about the firing of me the same time it was released to the press.

I learnt the same time as you did. “I lost my dream which I have been working towards for 18 years. I didn’t imagine the situation of losing my drive would happen so soon. “But I absolutely do not see Formula One as a closed chapter. I am going to stay in race condition and I will be ready to take on an opportunity if it comes.”
