Who won Starstruck 4th march 2023

Answered By: Leonars Adams Date: created: Jan 19 2024

ITV viewers were left complaining that the latest winner of Starstruck wasn’t given their ‘moment of glory’ after their win on Saturday, as the fina came to an abrupt end. After seeing of her fellow Adele soundalikes in an earlier round, Abbie Edwards battled it out against other doppelgangers in the finale of Starstruck’s second series this weekend, in front of host Olly Murs, judges Jason Manford, Beverley Knight, Adam Lambert and Shania Twain, the studio audience and millions of viewers at home.

  • Looking very much like Adele from the Brits 2011, Abbie sang Someone Like You as she bid for victory against tributes to the likes of Ed Sheeran and Beyonce.
  • And, after the studio audience had their say, it was Abbie’s name that Olly called as champion.

But, as Olly rushed to end the show, credits rolled without Abbie getting to perform again. And the move did not go un-noticed on Twitter, with one fan writing: “Hold on.they didn’t even give the winner time to sing at the end on #Starstruck ?” Also disappointed by the frantic way the show was wrapped up, a second tweeted: “Why didnt they have the winning contestant “Adele” song at the end of the show, a real anticlimax.

Who won the Starstruck Abbie?

School teacher Abbie Edwards has been crowned the winner of ITV singing contest Starstruck after performing as Adele. The aim of the show is for different teams each week to perform as their singing idols. The winner from each team is then put through to the final, and Abbie was declared champion of the series tonight (Saturday April 8) after beating off competition from Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Frank Sinatra, Meatloaf, Sam Cooke and Sam Smith sound-alikes.

Hosted by Olly Murs, the singers performed for judges Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, Jason Manford and Shania Twain with the studio audience voting for their favourite. Abbie performed a spine-tingling rendition of Adele’s Someone Like You, bagging the £50,000 cash prize. The 27-year-old was in tears as Olly declared her the winner and she gave an emotional shout-out to her daughter Lacie who was proudly watching in the audience.

She credits Starstruck for boosting her confidence after an “uncomfortably shy person.” “I decided to apply to prove to my friends that I couldn’t and wouldn’t get on TV,” she said.

“But then once I made it onto the show, I just wanted to prove to all the kids that I teach and especially to my daughter, Lacie, that you can do anything you want to and that if I can stand up there on that big stage and perform as Adele then you can do anything you want to.” She added: “Even when I was nervous or second guessing myself my daughter was the reason to step on that stage despite my nerves and self-doubt.

If I can inspire my kid to do something like that and help other kids on their journey, then that’s all I wanted.” Asked if she had ever done anything like this before, she said: “No, never! I used to sing at school and try the odd bit of karaoke but I’d never sung on a proper stage before as an adult. Abbie wiped away tears (Image: ITV) “The first time I sang in front of my friends I had to do it hiding behind a cupboard. But being on Starstruck has given me a huge amount of self-confidence.” She added: “It was the first time I’d ever left Lacie and although it was hard and I missed her, it allowed me to remember who Abbie was. Does Starstruck have a happy ending?

Starstruck (BBC Three/iPlayer), Rose Matafeo’s beloved, warm-hearted sitcom, could very easily have ended after two series, After 12 episodes of push-and-pull, quirky New Zealander Jessie (Matafeo) and dreamy Hollywood A-lister Tom (Nikesh Patel) finally seemed to get their happy ending, wading knee-deep across a lake to declare their love for one another.

  1. It felt like the show had reached its natural conclusion and it was hard to know where Matafeo could take the story next without falling into the perennial TV trap of dragging out a good show well beyond its natural shelf-life.
  2. But, judging by the first two episodes of the new series, the writers have managed to pull it off, freshening up the format while retaining the screwball comedy’s characteristic cheeky charm, messiness and wit.

With its Notting Hill-esque premise, Bafta-nominated Starstruck started life as a will-they-won’t they millennial romcom after the unlikely pair have a one-night stand (“He’s a famous actor and you’re a little rat nobody,” Jessie is informed). The first series was BBC Three’s best-performing comedy of the year, racking up five million views on iPlayer.

  1. On its return last year, we saw the couple navigate the ups and downs of their on-and-off-again relationship.
  2. This time round, though, things are very different.
  3. It’s not really a spoiler to say that when we pick up with Jessie and Tom again, they are no longer together.
  4. An opening montage speeds through the demise of their relationship and then, fast-forward two years, they meet again at Jessie’s best friend Kate’s wedding – cue lingering looks across the dance floor.

Now in their 30s, Tom has a fiancée in tow, Kate (Emma Sidi) is pregnant and getting married, and even Jessie’s awkward supervisor and former admirer Joe (Joe Barnes) is going through a divorce. Our heroine is stuck, however, even working the same dead-end job she had in series one.

“Just because everyone else is getting engaged, getting married and moving on to the next stage of their lives, it doesn’t mean that you should feel like a failure in any way,” the well-meaning if tactless Kate blunders. The chaotic, high-energy Jessie viewers have come to love seems calmer and more mature in her “post-Tom era” – although she still has her moments.

This isn’t a script failure, it just represents a realistic development for a character whose edges have been knocked off by heartbreak. While Matafeo dwarfed the previous series with Jessie’s infectious personality, the excellent cast of supporting characters are now given a chance to come into their own.

There’s a great scene where husband-and-wife duo Steve (Nic Simpson) and Sarah (Lola-Rose Maxwell) deliberately lose their daughter in a game of hide-and-seek while Kate is a consistently hilarious, highly-strung presence. You do, however, end up feeling nostalgic for the cosiness of Jessie and Kate’s flat-sharing days.

A new love interest – and sparring partner – is thrown into the mix in the form of sharp-witted Scottish electrician Liam (Lorne MacFadyen). Time will tell if he’ll be able to bring Jessie’s spark back or whether she’ll end up falling into the arms of Tom once more.

Do they end up together in Starstruck?

How many times can Starstruck play out a version of the same storyline, with some tweaks here and there? Girl meets boy; or, in some cases, is reunited with boy. Sparks fly. They go home together. Everything is magical. But slowly, and unbeknownst to the happy couple, the relationship starts to fray.

They push one another apart. Thankfully, right before the final episode, the pair has an epiphany: They’re meant to be together. With minutes to spare before the season concludes, they race into each other’s arms—love, at long last. The answer is as many times as Starstruck wants. I will gladly watch Jessie ( Rose Matafeo ) and Tom ( Nikesh Patel ) on a romantic comedy loop, because the show is so masterful and comforting that originality no longer matters.

In its third season on Max, Starstruck goes above and beyond the rom-com magic we’ve come to expect—we get those same rom-com beats (the meet cute, the reunion, the will-they-won’t-they) with some fresh storylines threaded into the mix. Starstruck needn’t do anything beyond giving me some banter between Jessie and Tom, but because it is a perfect (yes, perfect !) rom-com series, it offers up even more—Heartbreak! Rain soaked confessions! Adorable side characters!—than just that.

  1. Starstruck Season 3 begins like the two seasons that came before it: average woman Jessie and actor superstar Tom are dating.
  2. Thank god they’ve found each other.
  3. In a montage—another rom-com element, another “Hallelujah!” from me screaming in delight at my “telly”—we see Tom and Jessie cohabitating.
  4. Giggly tooth brushing, snuggles in bed, that famous banterlove is real, guys.

Until it isn’t, because Tom is busy with work, now they’re fighting more and more, and the relationship simply isn’t working out. Jessie and Tom, for a third season, do the hardest thing possible: They break up, even though they’re both still deeply in love with one another. Nikesh Patel and Rose Matafeo

How does Starstruck season 2 end

Answered By: Wallace Hayes Date: created: May 03 2024

‘Starstruck’ Season 2 Ending Explained: Where Do Jessie & Tom Go From Here? Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers for Seasons 1-2 of the HBO Max series Starstruck, Season 2 of the rom-com series dropped on March 24, and left fans with yet another tantalizing cliffhanger ending.

The series, imported from the UK, follows Jessie ( Rose Matafeo, also the show’s creator and writer), a 28-year-old navigating adulthood and two part-time jobs she actually kind of hates in London. In Season 1, she had a one-night stand with a cute guy, Tom ( Nikesh Patel ), whom she met at a bar on New Year’s Eve.

When she woke up at his place the next morning, she discovered he was actually a famous movie star. An on-again, off-again relationship ensued, exploring both Jessie’s and Tom’s insecurities as they tried to make it work while he’s on movie sets and attending premieres, and she’s working at the local cinema and as a nanny, though she loses the nanny job in Season 1. At first giddy about her decision to stay, Jessie soon has a minor freakout about not going back home, since her mother changed the sheets in the guest room and everything. And that’s what makes this show so great and relatable. Even though Tom is a well-known actor, you can empathize with what he’s going through and what Jessie’s going through as she tries to build a relationship with him.

  1. It’s the little things, like guests at Tom’s birthday party assuming she’s a waiter and Jessie feeling guilt about missing Christmas with her family because her mom made the effort to change the guest room sheets.
  2. Oh, and she booked a flight to the other side of the world, and then purposely missed that flight, which is a lot of money for us non-celebrity types.

Jessie and Tom face their first major hurdle when Tom, for reasons known only to Tom, purchases a ticket to New Zealand for Jessie “just in case” and “as a joke.” After this ripple, which Jessie quickly forgives him for, the two settle in for a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship that has its ups and downs, such as Tom’s family and colleagues saying Jessie “must have a great personality” because they’re used to him dating fellow actors and models.

But the ultimate test comes when Jessie sees her ex-boyfriend, Ben ( Edward Easton ), at his nan’s funeral. The two rekindle something, which Jessie seems to think is friendship and Ben knows all along is his master plan of winning her back. Before long, Ben’s plan succeeds, and he tears Tom and Jessie apart.

They break up, and no amount of screaming “nooooo!” at the TV screen will stop them from doing so. By the time we get to Episode 6, the season finale, Jessie and Tom have been broken up for three months, and she and Ben are seeing each other again. In the meantime, Jessie’s friends, Steve ( Nic Sampson ) and Sarah ( Lola-Rose Maxwell ), have become engaged, and the season finale focuses almost entirely on their joint hen/stag party.

  • Steve has planned an all-day affair, and upon arriving to the first stop, a miniature golf game, Jessie finds that he’s invited Tom to join in the festivities.
  • Ben is also there, as he’s Steve’s best man.
  • Awkwardness, and Jessie’s realization that she made a mistake by breaking up with Tom, ensues.
  • Throughout the day, through laser tag and karaoke and finally, a boat trip across a pond, Tom and Jessie manage to have a couple of conversations, and it’s clear that neither of them really wanted to break up with the other.

They maintain that they’d like to be friends, but we all know they want more than that, right? The laser tag incident proves that right away, as after Tom “shoots” Jessie as part of the game, they share a brief, but powerful, kiss. And then she finally realizes that she shouldn’t be with Ben, either. For the final event of the day, as the gang separates into boats by gender, Jessie’s girlfriends question her about Tom, and why they broke up in the first place. Through this conversation, with Joe ( Joe Barnes ) included as well, because there were more guys than girls, the friends tell Jessie the tough-love truth: she wasn’t ready to be in a relationship.

  • She was a commitment-phobe, and sabotaged her relationship with Tom, just as Ben had done with her, when they were together before.
  • Oh my God, I’ve Ben-ed Tom!” Jessie exclaims.
  • It’s at this moment, she realizes what she’s done, and she jumps from the boat, wading across the pond to Tom’s boat, even as her friends keep yelling that she can’t swim.

It’s all very chaotic as both boats erupt into yells and excited chatter, but they quiet down when Jessie reaches Tom’s boat. It’s there that she declares her love for him, and of course, he jumps out of his own boat to meet her, and tells her he loves her, too. Image via HBO Max Zoom out, fountain erupts as they kiss, happy ending. But, Tom has committed to film a movie for eight months in Atlanta, and said earlier in the episode that he would be leaving the next week. And he’ll be gone for nearly a year. Jessie has no plans to leave London anytime soon, so was this actually a happy ending after all? There has been no word on a Season 3, but it’s easy to see how it could play out.

Fans would probably be thrilled to find out how Jessie and Tom navigate a long-distance relationship — or if they even try to. Perhaps they’re okay with saying the “L” word and then continuing on living separate lives. That’s harder to imagine, however. Other successful British comedies like have had two seasons and been done, and in an, Matafeo did say, “I always thought two and out; it’s the British way.” But she does seem open to the possibility of a third season.

Though there’s something to be said for ambiguous endings, Starstruck is the kind of series we need to know a definite ending. Jessie and Tom have been through so much already, and have broken up so many times, we almost need a permanent commitment from them both, so we know they’ll be okay.

Who won the meat loaf on Starstruck?

Impersonating iconic celebrities is never going to be easy – but viewers were left fuming during ITV 1’s Starstruck on Saturday night as the “worst” team won the episode. The show, hosted by Olly Murs, sees members of the public work in teams to impersonate different famous singers and musicians.

  1. Judges Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, Jason Manford and Shania Twain then have to decide which team performed the best, before the voting studio audience picks which individual member of the winning team was their favourite.
  2. On Saturday, February 25, the judges picked the Meatloaf team, despite a very strong performance from the Christina Aguilera team.

Countless viewers were not happy that the Meatloaf team was picked and many took to social media to say Team Christina should have won. One angry viewer said: “Can’t believe ITV Starstruck tonight Team Meatloaf were the worst of the night. Team Christina should have gone through!” READ MORE: ITV Starstruck 2023: When is it on? Team Christina were so much better #starstruck”.

  • A fourth said: “Watching Starstruck on ITV.
  • How on earth did the meatloaf act beat Team Christina,” whilst another said: “Meatloaf? Seriously??? Obviously team Christina should have won.
  • Starstruck”.
  • When picking the winner, the judges said: “What you guys have done tonight was not easy.
  • Most of you have never been on a stage this kind of scale in public but tonight the team that is going through to the sing-off is team Meatloaf!” William from team Meatloaf went on to win the show and he will go through to the series finale and will be in with a chance of winning £50,000.

Elsewhere in the show there was a Shania Twain team, who got the opportunity to perform as their idol in front of Shania herself. READ NEXT:

Did they kiss in StarStruck movie

Answered By: Charles Williams Date: created: Jun 16 2024

A little unrealistic, but ok. – It was quite good actually. I didn’t think Disney was capable of making a movie with no kissing but I was wrong. Sort of. There were two attempts to kiss but both were interrupted. There was no violence or rude language either.

I didn’t like the way Jessica treated her sister. She was just unkind and rude, which is a bad example to young kids. And her relationship with Christopher Wild was so on and off. One moment they were up in each other’s faces and the next they were chatting and messing about like nothing had happened. That was rather unrealistic.

A lot of it was unrealistic in fact. But other than that, it was pretty good.
