What specifically attracts you to this role?

Focus on the company – It is important to have a vested interest in the particular company you are applying to that are specific to that organisation. Saying ‘I need to pay my bills’ is not a viable reason for applying for a job and shows you are only interested in the pay and not the company or the role itself.

History – a popular angle when answering this question is to highlight your interest in the company due to its reputation, history or innovation within the industry. This shows you are involved in the company’s growth, understand its current position and want to be part of that journey. Problem-solving – this requires some research but can be a very good answer if approached in the right way. This is where you will highlight an issue within the business that you could help solve, or perhaps a trend that you foresee coming that the company has not addressed. This also shows that you want to help the company achieve success and are aligned with its mission and goals.

Example answer: One of the big factors that attracted me to this role is the company itself, I have loved your recent innovations and the development of ‘X’. Historically, the company has proven time and time again to be a market leader and that would be a great environment for me to develop in.

What is a weakness of Aldi?

    Weaknesses –

Limited product range : Aldi’s focus on a limited product range can be a drawback for some customers who may not find everything they need in one store. This may lead them to shop at competitors that offer a more extensive selection. Lack of brand variety : Due to its emphasis on private label products, Aldi may not always have the range of popular brands that some customers prefer. This can result in consumers shopping elsewhere to access their favorite brands. Perception of low quality : While Aldi is known for offering high-quality products at low prices, some consumers may associate low prices with lower quality. This perception may deter potential customers from shopping at Aldi stores. No-frills shopping experience : Aldi’s cost-cutting measures, such as the no-frills store environment and absence of loyalty programs, can make the shopping experience less enjoyable for some customers, who may prefer a more traditional or luxurious retail experience. Limited marketing and advertising : Aldi invests less in marketing and advertising than its competitors. While this helps to keep costs low, it may also limit brand awareness and hinder the company’s ability to attract new customers. Lean staffing : While Aldi’s lean staffing model reduces labor costs, it can sometimes lead to long checkout lines or slower restocking during peak shopping times. This may result in customer frustration and a less satisfying shopping experience. Limited online presence : Compared to other retailers, Aldi has a relatively limited online presence and e-commerce offering. This may put the company at a disadvantage in an increasingly digital retail landscape. Intense competition : Aldi faces fierce competition from other discount retailers, traditional supermarkets, and e-commerce giants. This competitive environment can make it challenging for the company to maintain its low-price advantage and continue expanding its market share.

What do you want to work for us?

One way to organise your response to this question is by focusing on the company’s reputation. Focus on the positive things you’ve heard about that company and why this makes you excited to work for them. Showing you understand the reputation of the company proves that you would uphold this reputation as an employee.

    What is Aldi brand personality

Answered By: Henry Young Date: created: Jun 09 2023

Using brand personality to jump out of hot water – When you take away the personality element, I think it’s clear to see a line’s been crossed. It’s easy to get caught up in the jokes on social media. Don’t get me wrong, teams live for the thrill of drafting a witty reply and getting sign-off from the client, but in this scenario, do we need to face facts that this façade could all have been a clever tactic by Aldi to mask its supposedly lazy product development? Aldi’s quickly become the nation’s underdog.

Known for its ‘like brands, only cheaper’ approach, we’ve accepted its behaviour as part of the challenger brand model. Aldi’s brand personality is relatable and fun, consumers champion the way Aldi shows its colours but, like pirates, some believe they take your treasure. The issue for me is that if any other brand had gone at M&S the same way Aldi did, it wouldn’t have gone down quite as well.

The way Aldi routinely shows its lack of fear towards having pop at other big supermarkets – or anyone for that matter – has meant that consumers are quick to rally round the underdog and jump on for the ride. The result? We condone its behaviour offline because of this.

Is ALDI nice to work for?

ALDI has an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5, based on over 13,019 reviews left anonymously by employees.58% of employees would recommend working at ALDI to a friend and 54% have a positive outlook for the business. This rating has been stable over the past 12 months. Does ALDI pay their employees well?

Why would you want to work for this company answer?

Delivering a smooth response to ‘Why do you want to work here?’ – In an actual interview situation, you want to deliver your prepared answer in a polished but natural way. Consider using one of the following lead-ins as the inspiration for crafting your tailored response:

“I see this opportunity as a way to contribute to an exciting/forward-thinking/fast-moving company/industry, and I feel I can do so by/with my ” “I feel my skills are particularly well-suited to this position because ” “I believe I have the type of knowledge to succeed in this role and at the company because ” “I’m excited about this job opportunity, as it would allow me to ”

When faced with the question “Why do you want to work here?” (or other challenging ones like ” Tell me about yourself ” and ” What are your greatest weaknesses? “), some job seekers freeze up, worried they’ll say the wrong thing. But if you anticipate the question and take time to prepare an answer before the interview, you’ll avoid feeling flummoxed — and your chances of hitting the mark with a winning answer will rise.
