What illness does Darren Scott have

Answered By: Ronald Perry Date: created: Jul 23 2023

Popular radio and TV personality Darren Scott has been given a good prognosis today, following his operation last week to remove melanoma cancer from his lungs. – Why Is Darren Adam Not On Lbc Sarah-Kate (pic on left) this week and Darren Scott today – “Selfie from the belly of the beast!!!”. Photos: Facebook In an update on Facebook this evening Darren revealed that doctors gave him the good news today that they’ve “got whatever melanoma and potentially infected nodes in the excised lobe of my lung, and prognosis is good”.

Although Darren is still in CCU he says he is “really feeling good”, although “desperately missing my boys”. It’s been a week since he saw them, as children are not allowed in ICU “for obvious reasons”. Darren is due to have a drain taken out his lungs today, which will leave just one more before he can leave ICU.

In typical South African fashion his mind has been on biltong (thanking David O’Sullivan for the “BEST biltong to ever come out of a cow”), hot curry (which he’d like after ICU) and rugby (joking that he was joined by Scottish patients with “VERY high blood pressure” after their loss to Australia on Sunday night)! Known for his upbeat nature, Darren has been joking from ICU that post-op he felt like “someone parked a Jeep in between 2 of my ribs” and thanked the Boks for causing ” a near relapse – you almost made me pull the rest of the lung out myself!” Darren and his wife Sarah-Kate, former Mrs South Africa, have thanked the Milpark ICU for being “brilliant”.

Statistical categories led : Most goals in jumper 19 Picked up by the Eagles for their inaugural season after having played in the WAFL since 1982, Bennett had once kicked 22 goals straight (with one out on the full) in a Reserves game and 10 goals in a senior semi final.

Despite playing in West Coast’s first VFL match he was delisted after just four games and the latest in a series of knee injuries. Requiring an eighth knee operation since 1983, the Eagles intended to return him to their list the next year. Desperate for firepower up forward, the Demons flew Bennett to Melbourne and put him through two days of examinations before taking a chance on him with their first draft pick,

He had been out of the game for the entire 1988 season due to the injury, and Melbourne had run him through a number of medical tests to make sure the knee would stand up. They decided he was and despite a scare early in the season where he missed three games with knee trouble they were rewarded with 208 goals in five seasons.

  • He missed the first two games of the 1989 season with ongoing knee concerns, and missed six weeks in the middle of the year with injury but still kicked 34 goals.
  • He had five on debut and five on his comeback from the mid-season injury.
  • The next year was Bennett’s career best.
  • He opened the season with an eight goal haul against North Melbourne, and followed with another eight a week later against Geelong,

With 16 goals in two games it looked as if he was on target to be the Demons first ever century goalkicker but despite four more six goal hauls for the year, Bennett fell thirteen short of the ton and 11 behind of Coleman Medal winner John Longmire. Only Norm Smith (89 goals in 1941) and Fred Fanning (87 in 1944 and 97 in 1947) have ever kicked more goals for the Demons in a season.

In contrast Bennett had an up-and-down 1991, The season started disastrously for everyone with the Demons kicking just two goals against West Coast in Perth. After being held goalless Bennett bounced back the next week to kick eight as Fitzroy were massacred by 131 points, In a first half of the season where Darren Cuthbertson was also starring with the boot, Bennett picked up where he left off in 1990 but the startling arrival of Allen Jakovich on the scene in the second half of the year pushed him out of the frame.

After a seven goal haul against Sydney in round 15 he kicked just four more goals in the last eight games of the season, including 1.6 in Round 16 and none in either of Melbourne’s finals. Having suffered a disappointing end to 1991, Bennett was a handy player in a deteriorating team throughout 1992 with 28 goals in 14 games.

  • Opening the next season in round 3, 1993 he suffered a broken arm which kept him out until Round 14 when he would play his last game.
  • Having previously been courted by American Football teams due to his long kicking abilities, Bennett abandoned his AFL career after being delisted by the Demons and began a successful run as a punter in the NFL.

A successful trial with the San Diego Chargers while in the US on his honeymoon led to a professional contract and he remained with them from 1994 to 2003, In 1996 he was named in the Associated Press All-Star NFL team, played twice in the Pro Bowl and was chosen as punter in the NFL’s All 1990’s side.

He also had a short stint with the Amsterdam Admirals in the second tier NFL Europe competition in 1995, In 2004 he joined the Minnesota Vikings and played two seasons there before retiring. After his career ended Bennett returned to San Diego, became a US citizen and took up football coaching. In 2012 he was elected by fans into the Chargers Hall of Fame.

His storied career opened the doors for other ex-AFL punters like Ben Graham and Sav Rocca to build lucrative punting careers in the US.

2. Maajid Nawaz – LBC presenter Maajid Nawaz officially “left” the LBC in January of 2022, after controversy emerged around his tweets regarding Covid-19 vaccinations. Nawaz joined the LBC station in 2016, and typically presented on both Saturdays and Sundays between 1pm and 4pm.

  • According to Maajid, it wasn’t his decision to leave the station, but the radio claimed the contract he had with the LBC was “ending” very shortly, and they had chosen not to renew his employment.
  • Nawaz tweeted he refused to “go quietly” after being dismissed.
  • The news of Nawaz’ departure was announced shortly after he posted a tweet linking to a report of mandatory vaccinations for people over 50 in Italy.

The tweet condemned the action as an attempt to suspend human rights. This was only one comment in a long list of statements Maajid has made regarding the vaccine in recent years. Nawaz has been criticised by many for sharing “fake news” and inciting fear about the vaccine. Why Is Darren Adam Not On Lbc Credit: Gage Skidmore

Who is Darren Scott’s wife?

Popular radio and TV personality Darren Scott and his wife, former Mrs South Africa Sarah-Kate Scott, have announced their separation in a joint statement. – Why Is Darren Adam Not On Lbc Darren uploaded this collage on Saturday after receiving a family visit in hospital where he is recuperating from an op three weeks ago. Source: FB/DarrenScott In the statement, published by each of them on their Facebook pages today, they revealed that “after much soul-searching and discussion” they’ve taken a mutual decision to separate.

The couple stressed that the wellbeing of their two sons is their only focus, and said that they remain “respectful” to each other, and ask that others treat their family with the same respect. The full statement read: “Our family has always accepted the notion that if you choose to operate in the public eye, you have to take the plaudits and good publicity, with the criticism and bad publicity.

“We are not on the side of those celebs who cry “privacy” when an awkward story rears it’s head, after accepting the media into our inner circle and benefitting from the feel-good stories. Source: FB/SarahKate “We’ve also always been an open book with you our friends, supporters and followers. With this in mind, we feel it is appropriate to share what is ultimately sad news for both of us.

“After 12 years together, and almost 6 years of marriage, nearly 5 of which have been characterized by various challenges to both our marriage and our family, and after much soul-searching and discussion, we have taken a mutual decision to separate. “This decision has been reached with the most important factor in mind, and one which we both have absolute agreement: our 2 boys.

They are all that matter in this. “We are well aware that Mark and Matthew are at ages where the presence of both their parents is crucial and with this in mind, we will remain part of each other’s lives as we continue to co-parent. We both brought 2 beautiful, amazing boys into this world and that is our only focus.

  • We remain firmly respectful of each other, and we ask that everyone else do the same with regards to our family.
  • Please understand this is – and has been – an extremely difficult time for our family, for various reasons, and we ask you to be considerate of the fact that we just wish to protect our children and give them as normal and happy an upbringing as they deserve, and as we were afforded.

“We have come to this decision together, and as mature adults will move forward in a mature manner, both remaining firmly committed to, and acting in the best interests of our children.” Although many people responded sadness, most wished each the best going forward and echoed the words of Dale Johnstone who wrote: “Although it be with tears in my eyes that I read this sad news, I would still like to salute both Sarah Kate and yourself for the way in which you both opted to handle this situation for the sake of your whole family.

Who are the presenters on Capital Radio 604

Answered By: Jesus Gray Date: created: Oct 02 2023

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Capital Radio 604

Broadcast area South Africa
Frequency 603 & 558 kHz & various short wave
History
First air date 26 December 1979
Last air date 29 November 1996

Capital Radio 604 was a radio station that broadcast to listeners in South Africa from transmitters located in the Transkei using Medium Wave (AM) on 603 kHz. Founded by Martin Rattle, the station started transmitting on 26 December 1979 and was shut down in 1996, as it was no longer financially viable.

  • Capital Radio 604 had often supported the anti-apartheid liberation struggle and many highlighted the irony; that it was under the very same government that Capital and its staff had fought for in the past that the station would had to close down.
  • Capital Radio 604 changed radio in South Africa forever when it introduced listeners to great uncensored music, polished presenters, uncensored news, and great jingles.

Previously, the state run radio stations (no private stations were allowed) were not allowed to tell the real news or play certain songs or music from certain bands. While this station is off the air now, an archive web site ( Capital Radio 604 ) exists that contains many photos, video, jingles, and recent interviews with ex-604 personnel.

There is also a podcast which allows listeners to hear re-broadcasts of old shows which originally aired in the 1980s. Capital Radio 604 was an almost carbon copy of Capital Radio 194 (1548 kHz) in London (which later split to become Capital Gold and Capital FM). Capital Radio 194 operated on Medium Wave at 194 metres (hence the name) and veteran broadcasting executive Michael Bukht, Capital Radio London’s first programme controller, acted as consultant to 604.

Capital Radio 604 actually operated on 603 kHz, Medium Wave, but promoted a frequency to which the jingles would rhyme. Bill Mitchell returned to re-word the deep gravelly voice drop-ins and simply said 604 instead of 194. Many presenters were chosen because they sounded like presenters that were already on Capital 194.

Finally the Capital 194 logo was slightly modified by changing 194’s swallow to a seagull (as a symbol of freedom) and obviously changing the number to 604. Some of the household names who presented shows on Capital included Alan Mann, Dave Simons, Steve Smith, Darren Scott, John Berks, Jim Ellery, Tony Newman, Martin Bailie, Oscar Renzi, Kevin Savage, Tony Murrell, Alan Khan, Dave Guselli, Allan Pierce, Steve Crozier, Justice Ramahlola, Steve Bishop, Lee Downs, Barry Lambert, Richard Jones, Kenny Maistry, Tony Blewitt, Brian Oxley, Treasure Tshabalala and former Magic 1548 Liverpool presenter Richard Jardine, brother of ITV1 Formula One pundit Tony Jardine,

‘Independent Radio News’ on 603, based in Johannesburg, was the first radio news service in South Africa not controlled by government although it conformed with South African media laws. The news department boasted a team of experienced radio journalists including Will Bernard, Gary Edwards, Julian Potter as well as Paddi Clay, Michael Letellier, Mike Hanna, David O’Sullivan, James Lorimer, Manu Padayachee, Zahed Cachalia, Nigel Wrench and Beatrice Hollyer.
